  1. I’m sure someone would buy them. Not my cuppa at all. But certainly love the grain and potential that’s there.
  2. Yeh, I can see Bitch working well. Roll up the bark and jamb it down the slot and off it goes.
  3. Not a mansion but a very poorly insulated single glazed farmhouse with 6 chimneys and full of women. 🤣 Double Glazing should have been installed last summer but “Covid”. One of the stoves does our cooking and hot water sinks on 24/7.
  4. Hmmmm, not buying it. When will you finish them?
  5. Just seen this on FB 🤣
  6. That’s great! To me that shows the power the people can have when not competing with people who’s cost of living and house prices are vastly less than us in the U.K. Brexits slowly but surely working.
  7. Yeh, time will tell. The reality of it is they where/are paying about the same as someone earns in Tesco’s stacking shelves. Utterly ridiculous. Their wages need to rise to a level that’s worthwhile spending considerable time away from their families and the skill level and responsibility involved. Now that the flood gates have closed hopefully that happens. £20 an hour does not sound excessive to me. Im hearing reports from the U.K. oil and Gas sector that people are now working for £100 a day. Imagine sacrificing your life and time away from your family for that? Joining the EU and employers access to cheap Labour has been a race to the bottom.
  8. I find a bong does the job nicely. [emoji16]
  9. Heating oil 10 years ago was 61p a litre and today it’s under 50p. Taking inflation into account that 61p would be £1 today. So heating oil is less than half of what it was then. I find oil fairly cheap but then we do have 2 x 10kw Stoves in the house as well and all the free firewood I can feed them with. I expect to put 40 m3 lose filled bags through this coming season.
  10. How did you get on flogging them? Im thinking of making a bunch to test the market. Did you make a jig to hold the the log in place?
  11. Only on two separate threads on here both updates within the last 12 hours.
  12. We have a massive driver shortage because the Haulage companies are greedy and short sighted. They’ve had 5 years to get a plan of action in place and have been complacent. Pay British people British wages and you’ll get Drivers. There is thousands of people with HGV licences in the U.K. that don’t wish to return to the job due to conditions and wages. But now the wages are significantly increasing due to Haulage Companies being forced to hire British people in Britain there is a resurgence in applicants and interest from those who already hold a licence.
  13. Let nature take its course. We need more candidates for the annual Darwin Awards.
  14. I see round my way there is people selling un-seasoned Spruce for £100 a 90x90 dumpy bag. (think he's a member here) Will be interesting to see how that goes. If this continues then I'll seriously get into selling firewood. Id rip Spruce Saw Logs into firewood for those prices.
  15. Are all the bolts and wing nuts tight when you use the Granberg? There should be little play, what you’re demonstrating indicates there is. Remember to lube the sliding arm so you’re not using more force to slide the grinder in and out. I feel you’re trying to tune a Lada like you’d tune a Ferrari. And you’re trying to run before you can walk. Save all that fettering around with different cutter heights for a year or two down the road. Pick an angle and grind them all at that and at the same height. Google the recommended raker height for the chain you’re using and use the granberg to take them down that height. The adjustment on the Granberg is quite fine tuned. Don’t introduce more variables than necessary and get the basics dialled in first.
  16. You look younger than I imagined
  17. And carers, and fruit pickers, and meat processors, and nurses ........... Pay British wages, get British workers. Now that the Haulage industry have finally realised this they have greatly increased their wages and now there is an influx of people showing interest in getting trained up. Who'd have guessed?
  18. Like the way the Tories are? It’s all I see on my FB feed, in the news and in here. Not that I disagree with the kicking mind. We all knew it was coming. We begged and demanded more and more protection, vaccinations, PPE, etc etc. Now we have to pay for it. Well, not me, but you get my drift.
  19. Exactly. Careful what you wish for. Now it’s time for everyone to bend over and take what we’ve known since the start was coming. Huge tax rises and we’ve by no means seen the end of that.
