  1. Not heard of the new Amazon series coming out soon? Called The Rig or something like that. Based in the North Sea.
  2. Don’t tell anyone! He does not need more competition. 🤣
  3. It’s maybe just oil town Aberdeen? I know Window Cleaners (no not that one) who travel an hour or so each way to clean up there as the rates are so good. He’s booked up for 3 months. Puts in silly quotes if he does not fancy the job and generally still gets them. That’s why I was helping out yesterday. £600 each in the hipper and we where only there 7 hours including two breaks and lunch, all customer provided. 😁
  4. He works part time just now. Does a week or so and then a week working on his own house. New porch going in, extension out the back next summer, new windows and doors. All cash. Nothing owed on the Pick-up or the wife’s car. I expect once he’s paid for all the work on the house he’ll get the mortgage paid off.
  5. You’re quite correct. That’s why he’s not interested. But up in Scotland with a £400 a month mortgage and total bills of less than £1000 it’s a nice living.
  6. I have no idea what you're talking about! I would like to inform you all that my new Boots and Stihl Post Hole Auger worked perfectly My Brother has some chainsaw tickets and was at Collage whilst serving his time with a local Estate before moving to London to get into the building trade, he worked his way up the ladder in the company he worked for and was even offered to become a member of the board of directors. Its a multi-million pound company with public and private sectors. But he was sick of London and wanted to come back to Scotland to raise his children. To get established up here he's taking on whats essentially odd-jobs to keep a roof over his head but its doing fantastically well for him. Inundated with requests and cherry picks the best. It certainly makes me wonder why I bother slogging my guts out Milling for £400 a day. Anyway, Im off to clean some windows in my new wellies.
  7. Sounds about right! My brother was on £250 a day managing the public sector arm of a Building Firm in London. He’s just been asked back for £450 a day. He obviously told them to poke it as he’s making more up in Scotland with a £400 a month mortgage and not a £1500 a month rent bill.
  8. Did a job with my brother today. Few jobs around a garden. Took some limbs down, dug 6 holes for trees. Set a couple of clothes lines in cement, lowered a coupe of drains and poured a wee 1m x 2m cement pad. £600 profit each for 7 hours work. Why folk bust their balls for a wage they can just exist on I have no idea. My brothers not made less than £600 profit a day odd-jobbing this year.
  9. Read the whole series. Great stuff. I like how they can’t remember her where earth is and someone suggests where it might actually be (they are correct) no one believes them. 🤣 I like his short stories as well. Some real mind benders and had me pondering over them for days. Much like Alistair Raynolds shorts. I love Science Fiction. I’ve loads of books if you want any Saul.
  10. Just paid a coupe of grand on a now worthless Trailer Licence. 🤣
  11. You get more working in Tesco’s! 🤣
  12. You’ve worded the first paragraph better than I. I don’t see how it contradicts what I said? Take your 1l Mica as an example. Do you think they should be allowed to jump into a Grand Cherokee regardless if it’s towing or not? Ironically as soon as my 18 year old will be doing just that if she passes her test at the end of the month. I really don’t care why it was brought in, I just don’t think the drop in traffic accidents since the 70’s is due to the trailer rule that came into effect in 1997. In my opinion the reasons as what you outlined in your first paragraph. But I’ll now be able to tow 3.5t without looking over my shoulder for the Coopers all the time. And that surely is gonna be much safer. 🤣
  13. Car safety features and build quality have improved massively since then though. As has the stringency of the MOT. It this is by far the biggest reason for the drop in deaths on the roads. Then we have the change in the publics views on drink driving and having that better enforced. In my opinion the change in requiring a Trailer License post 1997 would be a mere blip on the stats.
  14. It's an eco grill but they still shrink wrap it in plastic! Yeh, and the carbon footprint involved in kiln drying them, machining them and shipping them to the UK must be high. Like most things that are labled 'eco' they are anything but.
  15. Unnecessary but would be interested to seem them burn. Think I would of had one for £5 just for cracks. If Im back I'll pick one up.
  16. Yip. But its marketed as a BBQ. Was a pallet full of them reduced from £10 to a fiver. Would have had a punt at £2.50.
  17. I had a raised veg patch til last month. Never had an issue with Carrot Fly where as the FIL always does. Flattened the Veg patch now and put grass seed down as I'll be moving the veg patch further away from the house. Gonna stick with Garlic though as its the best money saving for the area and we eat about 4 a week at a minimum.
  18. Seen something similar in a garden center yesterday. Way to much work involved in these though
  19. There is something very wrong with his mental stability.
  20. I was hoping after all this time we’d a picture of this staircase he popped out to take a photo of. Instead all we got was a picture of him sanding a plank and some pictures he ripped off the internet he took credit for. 🤣
  21. By selling at a lower price than he’d ordinarily ask if required?
