I was once recommended to this company before http://www.trommel.co.uk Supposedly they'll make them any size you require. No idea of cost. I would make an angled frame with some lengths of angle face down about 2" apart and wide enough to tip your IBC's out onto then the 'clean' logs will tip straight into you truck/bag etc. Probably what I'll be doing myself. We reuse the small bits in the biomass boiler so I'd rather screen it after drying than during processing. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Hand feed is doable on the 400 I've found, (until the last 18" anyway) it's just then having to hand ball all the sticks out of the splitting chamber wastes the time you just saved not using the conveyor to feed it! I think 3's should work as long as the Log holder gets tight hold if the top one. They're all pretty straight by the looks of them. Perhaps a circular saw bench would be faster especially if you could position it to drop the logs onto the conveyor anyway. Aside from that it's grab them in a bunch with the 360 and run the chainsaw through the whole bunch in one go? Means picking them up to tip into IBC's with the skid steer after though or again holding over the processor conveyor perhaps. I'll time the different methods I think and post my findings! Why would it be faster than the tajfun aside from not needing to do a full saw cycle every cut perhaps? Does the v shape of the deck mean you can put multiple smaller pieces in at once? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

It's far easier with the 400. Have had a Farmi in before we got it and this is quicker for certain. May try putting 3 or more lengths in at a time as long as the log holder can get sufficient purchase so it doesn't snag the chain up. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

How do you all deal with smaller diameter stuff if you get any? We normally get 4-16" delivered but this load of thinnings was available. 95% won't be over 5" I guess and then maybe half of that won't even need splitting at all. If I could fully take out the splitter from the tajfun400 it'd be easy enough to do that way but I can't. Any suggestions? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

You'd beat a bobcat with a mustang anyday. Far better built machines, better balance and cheaper we found. We have a 1650r, about 21k new lifts nearly a ton, get it with foot pedals and levers, gives far better control. Speak to Mick at filtermech, Wakefield. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

How recently felled were they? I processed some a month after I felled them and they've gone a bit black on the tops and a touch mouldy but the kiln soon sorted that out. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Love the stuff, burns great when properly dry, easy to light, leaves very little ash and kicks off some serious heat. Most people haven't foggiest how different species burn even when you explain the difference. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Check the fuses in the front panel. Every single weird issue ive ever had on it has been to do with a fuse. There's an inline blade fuse on the main power input that has gone twice and caused all sorts of odd issues. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I've had a sliver of timber stuck underneath it before are you certain it's clear? Can't say I checked pressure gauge at the time. Chiselled out the sliver with a thin chisel to get it free Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Unless it's all identical size and perfectly straight you'll always struggle to get the quoted throughput. Especially if the customer is particular about log sizes. As an example I did a full 18t load of 3m long beech in 7 hours. So about 36 cube from my experience. That was with a few stops for chain tension, lunch, sorting out the ensuing log pile and one chain swap just to maintain cut speed. Pretty good going I felt. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Thanks, I'm no good with engines so I might have it serviced once it arrives to make sure on those things. However, The seller did say he reckoned it had maybe been used about 30 days, it certainly doesn't look tired in the pictures anyway. It was also serviced in march and he's sending the service report allegedly. We shall see! A forester friend has a 390 and reckons his has felled 12000 (? Maybe have been a typo in his text) Ton of timber in its life so 30 days is nothing by comparison. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Excellent. Ive bought a 18" and 28" sugi solid pro from FR jones for it. The 18 is mainly for the processor but it's the same fitting so it might come in handy. Planning to try some milling so got the biggest bar for now, it's not like I'll be traipsing around a wood with it all day long so no worries about weight! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Id rather swap it for a bigger saw plus a bit of cash if necessary. Think I'll be waiting a while to find the right one to swap for though. Unless anyone knows of one about? Can't say a bad word about the cutting performance of it on our Tajfun400 (fast, even chips, excellent stay sharpability) but on the old Stihl 034 it's very rough in comparison to stihl chain. However I've had one chain come apart at the original joint link on the processor and another was sent with a knot in it that can't be undone. After speaking to them they were to send a postage label for me to return to them but that has yet to arrive. Customer Service is very much lacking. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Thanks for your honesty, I felt that half price is low considering it's usage. The dealer we bought it off suggested £300-350 privately but as a trade back to them would be even less than half!
