I can't imagine you would find it very easy to market as 'poplar firewood' specifically. Maybe more use if it was in a bag of mixed hardwood, though it burns very similar to softwood in my experience. The general firewood buying public seem to have it ingrained that they want ash oak or birch. Wether they know the reasons why or not is completely irrelevant seemingly! Did 14cube of ash and sycamore on Friday. Taking it over to load in the kiln now. Did 18t of beech for a customer yesterday, mostly small stuff which is a pain in the backside. (3 high then 4 high then 3) the water would run off the tops and air would flow well underneath the pyramid. It's the same way we store straw although the straw sheets we use aren't breathable so wouldn't use them on logs. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Firstly, the bad experiences, particularly from suppliers who couldn't state a volume of their delivery- why did you even continue with the order if they can't clarify the volume. Second log size- if it wasn't as ordered, tell the supplier and get them to do something about it. If they didn't state a size and you didn't ask either then you can't expect it to be exactly what you want. A lot of your comments can be dismissed with the same logic- moisture, wasn't as stated- have them swap it. You didn't ask or clarify with them the moisture level- garunteed to get crap. I can think of at least half a dozen national suppliers who could do a better job in a crated load with British wood than you've experienced. In my area I can think of even more local suppliers (including myself) who I'd trust to buy a load off with clearly specified volumes, moisture levels, log sizes, wood species and delivery times. About 300-350 when below 20% moisture. Comfortably 500kg wet. Hardwood that is. Softwood will be 250kg dry tops. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

8 way for 10" and above usually. Just by eye though, don't measure them though. I'd probably use a 4/6 way more than I use the 4 way if I had one. Anyone tried a 12 on the 400? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I'll be glad to see the back of it purely because it's very tiring having to chase my tail to keep up, even without any extra promotion. I knew it'd be like this but due to farming/livestock commitments wasn't able to prepare as well I would have liked. I'm ready to get started now and be set up exactly how I want to maximise production and minimise time wasted during delivery season. It's tipped out of IBC's that have been in the kiln, then bagged. I wouldn't do it if we didn't have the concrete yard to load from though. I am also thinking of making a screen to tip them onto to grade the bark and shavings out of it after drying, it can all go back in the chip store for the boiler then. Would be easier with no teeth on that bucket though. For the barrow bags I fold the lids into the bag next to it to stop the logs falling between. You get a pretty even fill that way and can drop then straight on a pallet and string/tie round the 4 to make stacking easier. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Dealt with the same con artists! Apparently sells thousands of tonnes a year and has 4 glen farrow kilns on the go. Probably doesn't care if he gets bad publicity with all the RHI he gets. You can see the huge piles of trees in his yard on google maps! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
