  1. The chilling truth is we may never be permitted to return to normality APPLE.NEWS Anyone turning on their television after returning home from an unseasonably chilly bank holiday... I truly hope he is wrong but I fear a lot of what he says is all happening around us in plain sight. We have always been told follow the science, couple of questions I have for the members whom have advocated that path. 1, what is the point of the dishing out of the lateral flow tests on the scale proposed??. 2, science is now stating we are approaching herd immunity yet Hancock is choosing to totally ignore that fact. The more I look at the headlines the more I see the arguments for any of this making sense literally falling apart.
  2. You are correct Les, Covid is causing significant issues too in regards build time at the moment.
  3. I’d take the 3 phase option all day if I had it and was going the static route. I’ve ran a 130 set up for mobile use for a while and it’s been a great bit of kit. Mates just ordered a 130 max that’s gonna be set up in the static mode so the opportunity for comparison should be interesting. I’ve seen Andy’s Logosol and he’s right in saying it’s a well thought out and engineered bit of kit.
  4. Would you be going got a static or mobile, 3 phase or petrol ?
  5. Hi All Few pics I’ve been sent of a tree that needs removed and the guy is looking to get some of it milled. He says it’s walnut. Thoughts ??
  6. Thousands of tourists let into the UK as Brits are told to staycation APPLE.NEWS Around 8,000 tourists are arriving in the UK each day, it has been claimed In the industry I primarily work in ( not trees K) at the end of each project there is a sit down wash up meeting covering everything that was done from start to finish, part of that is a lessons learned so next time it can be done better 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️. Weak government and weak opposition is a bad combination.
  7. I’d like to think not, just wondered if anyone had good or bad experiences with a particular insurer.
  8. I have an ifor LM 146 owned from new and the standard of galvanising leaves a lot to be desired in places with visible rusting. I fabbed up an A frame for the back and had that galvanised locally pretty much straight after buying the trailer and the difference is night and day just a couple of years later with the A frame still perfect.
  9. As long as it leads somewhere 👍👍
  10. Hi Looking for someone whom will cover a mobile sawmill for theft and damage etc. I’ve already got public liability etc and arborisk stated they’d only quote for the mill if I had that with them. Any info would be appreciated. Cheers
  11. Nice looking log, should get some nice clean slabs from that.
  12. UK to offer Covid vaccines to Ireland APPLE.NEWS Britain is planning to offer 3.7 million Covid jabs to Ireland, in part to help lift the lockdown in... Nice little read for the UK critics on here.

There’s a good few guys on this site whom have other sources of income outside of Arb/Timber work.
  15. Decent market for smaller stuff I find, not everyone wants or needs monster size and expense slabs.
  16. Batley Grammar School: More people gather over Mohammed image row, as housing minister Robert Jenrick 'disturbed' by protest APPLE.NEWS Demonstrations outside a school where a teacher showed a caricature of the Prophet... Let's see if the police use the same tactic to break up this illegal demonstration that they did In London at a peaceful vigil. The ultra Woke PC brigade will say bugger all unless we see a teacher meet the same unfortunate fate of the French guy whom originally showed the Image.
  17. Depending on how difficult the extraction is id go for it, those logs may well produce some lovely boards, plenty of colour still in it.

My sentiments too, seen more than one animal with terrible jaw and head damage that has struggled on for days.

22 Hornet is not a reliable humane everyday roe calibre regardless of who’s on the trigger. I’m well aware of my own capabilities, I shoot 22rf,17hmr,223,243 and sect 1 shotgun in the field, each has its place. Many is the time I’ve had opportunity but not the right tool. Each to their own but it would not be me using it on roe.

Bullet placement is indeed everything but as for 22 Hornet on roe that would not be anywhere near enough to do the job effectively and humanely every time, short range yes it will drop one as would 22rf but would you class it’s ethically ok, I know I wouldn’t.

Id not argue with that, 308 is a great all rounder.
  22. Sadly a lot of that is true Les but where possible you can source better product/eqpt with a bit of time and effort, eg I always use Eley for rimfire ammo . If I can’t get British I’ll go European or American. Buying from China is only helping to keep UK manufacturing in the state it’s in now. As has been mentioned successive governments have played a massive short sighted part too. We should be seeing huge buy British campaigns on TV and in the media every day, my own pet hate is the current boom in renewable energy around our coast ie wind farms. The total lack of UK manufacturing input is a national disgrace but it’s hidden by media savvy energy companies having the structures built in China or elsewhere then shipped half way around the world and passed off as green energy. Meanwhile the potential for tens of thousands of skilled engineering and manufacturing jobs disappears. Those Chinese chainsaws I’ve seen mentioned on here recently 😳 id rather use a bloody axe than one of those.

17hmr is a good vermin control round and will deal with fox but it’s nowhere near the 222. 243 is another big step up. Better to be 100% sure of what each Calibre is is capable of and stick within its limits. Nothing worse than a wounded or poorly despatched animal be it vermin right up to reds.
  24. Making a conscious effort to buy British where possible and when not at least to buy decent quality. Not easy when you start trying to do it as the grip the Chinese have on manufacturing is staggering.

Yeah I’d agree in many respects. 222 will do anything you want in the field. I also do a bit of range work and used to do PR with an Armalon converted 700 in 233 so appreciate the ability to push out a bit further with the heavier 223 bullets that are available.
