  1. It might be worth contacting some of the kiln suppliers on this list for some literature- http://www.forestry.gov.uk/pdf/fcin24.pdf/$FILE/fcin24.pdf
  2. That's interesting, do you not use a filing guide? I am confident that I can maintain the correct angles filing freehand but I've always used a guide to maintain the correct gullet height.
  3. It's going to be a slow old job using an ACME thread for the rise and fall of the head!
  4. I own the woodland and meadows on the right as you go up to the pond, I had a nosey at your kit while it was parked up and I was very impressed, quality machinery!
  5. Was that your outfit working on the NT land at Holford recently?
  6. I wouldn't bother with 6 legs unless your floor is mirror flat, otherwise it will always be rocking.
  7. Varish protects wood from the elements, to protect wood from insect and fungal attack you need to use a wood preserver. Something like this: Lumberjack Triple Action Wood Treatment - Toolstation It's clear and soaks in so once it's dry it doesn't look any different if you want the natural look. Using the timber green is not ideal as it will move and shrink as it drys so chances are whatever you make will warp badly unless it's restrained.
  8. I'm guessing they are reclaimed beams so factor in the assorted ironwork buried in them. You might want to invest in a decent metal detector.
  9. Ash dieback breakthrough as scientists learn to spot resistant trees - Telegraph Was it this article from the Telegraph that was posted on SWOG?
  10. A few years since I did my tickets but I was told that the only manufacturer that advertised their saws could be started with the chain brake on was Stihl, and that all other manufacturers recommended starting the saw with the brake off?
  11. I would be interested too.
  12. Both the electric and petrol versions are £2599 + vat @ 25% (Swedish sales tax) = £3248.75. If you are VAT registered you can claim it back but as its from Europe I did read that this is not quite as easy, extra forms to fill in.
  13. You have to be Euro VAT registered if you want to claim the VAT back.
  14. I was also looking at the Woodlands Mill but after you factor in the Swedish VAT at 25% its not quite so attractive. This looks very similar, works out cheaper, and is from a UK importer: How to Order - Timbersaw But after seeing the TrakMet at the CONFOR show I would try and stretch your budget to £3995 + vat for their offering which has a wider cut, a longer bed and much more heavily built. TTP-600 Standard That's what I'm saving my pennies for.
  15. Don't buy the Ryobi blower, my father in law has one and it would struggle to blow the skin off a rice pudding!
  16. The Trak-met one is only £3950 + the Vat new.
  17. Have you tried putting a straight edge on the edge of the wheels when the band is tensioned, it would show if your frame is flexing or twisting under load.
