  1. Cheers for that, I ordered mine about 10 days ago and according to the tracking it's out for delivery today.
  2. I think the idea is to keep it on the trailer as that way you don't have to keep levelling the bed of the saw. The one shown in the picture is not ideal as he has built the longer trailer* but has the short version of the mill without the track extensions. I am hoping to modify a galvanised caravan chassis to mount my mill on, I would need to cut and shut the chassis to make it narrower and mount some mudguards on it but it means the brakes and hitch are already sorted. *Plans are on the Woodlands site for 2 versions of the trailer.
  3. That's OK if you have a 3 phase supply on hand, a bit hard to find in most remote locations without faffing around with generators and inverters.
  4. Looks good, I ordered mine last Saturday and I've had a tracking number but it just says 'Shipped From Terminal', how long did yours take to arrive?
  5. Might be of interest to someone but note it's located in Germany: Insolvency Sale: Kiln Drying System For Wood - GoIndustry DoveBid
  6. The Woodpile in Highbridge sells 8x4' sheets of 18mm Phenolic ply for £35.
  7. I bought a used SCM universal woodworking machine and the motors for that were 440/715V rather than the usual 230/440V that we normally get in this country, could be that you have a mis-badged motor intended for a higher line voltage?
  8. Done a like for like swap on a Ford D series, used a beam fixed to the tipper body to lift the old cab off and the new cab on.
  9. I use sharp granite chippings, road sweepings are good. A handful in the tank with some water and make like a cocktail shaker!
  10. What about selling direct, at least you would save on eBay fees.
  11. Large insulated box and a domestic dehumidifier. No heating heating as the heat from the dehumidifier provides enough.
  12. There is a whole section devoted to it!
  13. Thanks for getting back to me but I think I will give it a miss, the show is not really my cup of tea but it would have been nice to see the mill in the flesh.
  14. Hi, I'm really interested in buying a sawmill and its handy that your demonstrating locally but a day ticket for the B&W show is £22 on the gate which is a bit pricey as I only want to view the mill, cheeky I know but do you have a spare ticket? If not I will most probably wait till I am working up in Wales and try and arrange a visit to you then.
  15. I used to help run a Forestor Tom Sawyer horizontal bandsaw and after a disastrous event when the idiot who ran the saw decided a pair of Mole grips* made a good replacement battery clamp I made several trips to the factory in Andover to collect replacement parts. *He overtightened the battery clamp and snapped it so rather than admitting what he'd done and getting a replacement he bodged it with a pair of Mole grips, it stayed like this for months until one night as he sheeted the saw over he dislodged the Mole grips which shorted out the battery. We came in the next morning to find the saw a charred smoking wreck, a £30000 saw ruined for the sake of a £2 battery clamp.
  16. Our tip shop always has a couple for sale so I have always assumed that they weren't much cop if people are chucking them out?
  17. Be wary of the customer wanting a diagonal herringbone pattern as you will need to cut loads of 45° bricks to finish the perimeter.
  18. I was of the understanding that seasonal had been defined as a year and a day and once that had expired the dwelling had to be moved?
  19. Dowel plates: https://www.classichandtools.com/acatalog/Miller-Dowel.html Cheaper ones are available!
  20. You need to work out whether it's fuel or oil smoke. Oil smoke could be bore/rings, valve guides or turbo. Fuel smoke is likely to be carbon build up on injectors.
  21. My Mother In Law is after a few loads of woodchip, easy access any time, located in Kingston St Mary. PM me for the exact address. Cheers. John
  22. I agree totally, it narks me off when I here that someone bought xxxx from a car boot at a dirt cheap price, either the seller didn't know what they were selling or, more likely, they want to shift it quickly because it's hot. Just to add I am not implying that the OP has bought a nicked saw, just that it would be prudent to check.
  23. If buying from eBay you ought to check the serial numbers if you want to do the right thing!
  24. Is there a reasonable amount of time for the owner of the fallen tree to remove it from your property? We are in a similar situation as when we bought our woodland at the end of 2013 a very large beech tree had fallen across the boundary from an adjoining garden onto our side. I spoke to the elderly owner who stated that her gardeners would remove the timber and repair the fence and to be fair they did start ringing it up but it's on a very steep slope which makes access awkward for them from their side and since then nothing more has been done.
  25. That made me smile but I am confident that nothing can be stolen from my workshop, what I cannot guarantee is that my truck will not get stolen with my gear in.
