  1. Just wondered if anybody has milled any Wellingtonia? I was wondering if it would be any good for roof shingles, if so would they need treating with anything? Thanks!
  2. Yes we're in Rutland, great part of the country!
  3. Just wondering what experiences people have with the budget Mills? I've seen several on the market around the £3000 mark. We're farmers so we have some of our own timber and we also buy cord in for firewood so there are usually a few decent bits among them. It's probably going to be as a hobby more than a business but it would be nice to utilise our own wood without spending a fortune. Any comments gratefully received!
  4. Good afternoon, Please can anyone quote me for a pallet of kindling (bagged). Delivery is to near Stamford (PE9). I'd also be interested in where I can get firelighters in bulk if anyone can help?! Thanks Andy
  5. Good afternoon all, We've got some large black poplars which are due to be felled next month. They're lovely straight stems and vary from 60-120cm dbh. We are currently planning on sending it off to be made into pallets which seems a bit of a waste. Just wondering if anyone is interested in any for milling? Could perhaps exchange some for some milled up for us. Open to any suggestions! Trees are based a couple of miles from the A1 near Stamford. We can get them to the roadside or they could be milled on site.
  6. Just wondering if anyone has had a go at making their own kiln for drying logs? I'm guessing it must be possible. Any ideas photos would be great!
  7. Presumably if you're VAT registered you can claim all the VAT back - or is it different with it being VAT from a different country?
  8. Hi, I'm thinking about getting a small mill for projects on the farm and have seen the woodland mills advertised. They look exceptional value for money. Just wondering what your experience is of these mills and if anyone has one I can come and see in action?
  9. We've started doing a small amount of logs this year and haven't been able to keep up with demand. I was wondering if I would be better buying split logs in rather than buying a better processor and trying to find the time to use it. Any thoughts and would anyone be able to give me an idea of prices please? We're near Stamford in Lincolnshire. Thanks!
  10. I'm after anything up to and including an artic load, plan is to get it in and split ready for next winter. Thanks for your help!
  11. Hi, I'm after a supplier of hardwood, preferably ash or similar. Can anyone help and give an idea of prices? Cheers
