  1. My main line of work is Gardening Maintenance but I do the odd tree job, been thinking of doin more tree's myself.. But the rains puttin me off the idea... I ain't workin in no rain.. Just a question, why isn't your arborist friend doin tree's for himself..
  2. I used to go to bed with Paul Sellars... Thats to say, I'd put a long vid on and listen to him, fast asleep in five minutes..
  3. Seen it all now, what next, taking the car for a walk, tucking it in before bed?...
  4. Paul Sellars Utube [ame] [/ame] I went through a woodworking phase last year LOL
  5. Yes, loss of rights to be compensated, due in no small part to reckless foresight..
  6. Kveldssanger The root of the problem is with the person who planted the tree's without due consideration of their future impact on the neighbors quality of life.. It wouldn't matter if its new owners, as they would of also bought the responsibility of the actions of the previous owner...in this case anyways.. in effect they own the tree's, they own the problem.. Now if a third party had suffered damage then I suspect the fella who chopped the tree roots might be held to account. but if its just these two neighbors and no other party is involved, then its all down to the owner of the tree's.. I suppose it comes down to degree's of damage and fair reparations.. The root of justice is fairness, who planted the tree's?... Oh an just because its legally allowed to grow conifers as a hedge stretching into the heavens, doesn't make the law right.. Theres an old adage that aught be taken into account, good fences make good neighbors.. Perhaps reckless tree growers might want to think on that..
  7. allowing the tree's to grow so big their root system trespassed into the next doors property.. The size presenting a potential blight to the neighbors.. undue care and attention on the owners part so to speak... It might just be that both parties are goin halves to the costs, maybe they get on and no one seems to mind that the tree's blew over. But if they're at daggers drawn over the costs, then I'd have to side with the party who was potentially suffering from blight..
  8. Yes, but is there really a skills shortage at all, considering they can hire continentals from eastern Europe an all.. who commissions these polls?...whats their motive/agenda?...perhaps trade unions fabricating research to get their employees a better deal.. I mean, how many times over how many years have I read similar stories..
  9. Been thinking on this for a bit now, but heres my take.. As a judge trying a case like this I'd have to put it down to an unforeseen accident due to an act of god... The fact that those tree's had obviously been neglected would abrogate any intended or unintended damage to the root system trespassing onto the neighbors property.. Any costs should be borne by the owner of those tree's, and not the neighbor.. In a word, the owner deserved what he/she got.....
  10. him as well, and a handfull of vids from TAMB.. very well done in my opinion..
  11. arboristblairglen nice easy manner, easy to listen to... not to mention some good educational vids... you won't find any vids of him chopping a branch off to Iron Maiden aswell..
  12. Chop it down, tell the fella your doin it for that if anyone asks, he's to say some fella turned up in a van an asked if he wanted any tree work doin, so you told him to chop off a branch or two.. Only the fella, with an irish accent of course had chopped it all down and wanted three hundred quid for his troubles.. explain how you was threatened if you didn't pay up..
  13. You should investigate more.. I don't care how much any of the tracked equipment can pull tow or jump on top off.. I'd rather die than stand behind one of those things crawling at 0,09 MPH.. get a compact tractor or quad, I'd even stretch to a cart horse before I got anything tracked..
  14. Kev After much consideration, I decided to take you out of my little black book...
  15. Well I don't mind foreigners working for the NHS, but for it to be as many as it is is disgraceful.. In fact I'm almost tempted to say Managers of the NHS are giving preference to foreign applicants for political motives.. Though knowing British attitudes to work, I'm just as surprised theres not a lot more foreigners working for the NHS.. Give me strength, you don't know which way to turn on these things..
  16. Left wing trash from left wing sources.. An exercise in damage limitation.... The underlying message, immigrants are good for you....
  17. distracted.. damn this spell checker trips you up sometimes..
  18. It was being felled, not pruned.. I was wondering if the fella on the bike might of been detracted by somethin before he happened on the scene, maybe listening to an Iplayer or somethin.. I mean he must otherwise of heard a chainsaw.. maybe its a case of the fella knowing it was gonna fall but attempted to outrun it.. a game of chicken gone wrong..
  19. No, if you can do it the next day get on with it... tell em you have a big job comin up at the end of the week and they're lucky they happened to phone then.. get it out the way for the next job...
  20. LOL seen it happen, well I was once worried it might happen to me.. But thankfully it hasn't yet... See the thing is, I might do that if its an old lady who looks like she's a bit worried. wouldn't try in it on some fella with a range rover in the drive.. An I don't suppose the good people in the North West are much behind your Scotish breather-in when it comes to spending money as well.
  21. Nope, tried this tack on loads of people, though not all.. Pick an choose see, if they look decent an genuine sorts, but you can tell they don't want to get ripped, then I roll out the "if your not happy, don't pay" card.. People want to trust you see, just give em a reason to do that..
  22. Heres what you do, you tell em that you don't exactly know how much its gonna cost because your new to the job.. But you'll do all you can to keep the cost down, two people will be workin the job, you an your mate.. forget a chipper conifers are easy to pile up an shift as it is.. Tell her its gonna be in the three hundred quid mark give or take fifty quid... an tell her if she's not happy with the work at the end of the day she don't need to pay nothin, its gonna be free... she'll like that!!!!... Now next time you go to a job an do all that, 100% success rate...
  23. why don't you google tree surgeons in your area, phone em up and see what they have, are getting and who they might know... research the subject on the net, more than likely only take half a day before you're an expert in the field LOL..
  24. can't advise about saws, but I can give you a tip. Subscribe to Paul sellers on Utube... fella knows his business, no need to buy expensive anything as well.. He bought a set of Aldi Chisles, claims to be as good as anything after sharpening... [ame] [/ame]
  25. wee chipper club.. plenty opinions on there.. Oh pros, easy to move about, get in most back gardens.. Cons, none where you're concerned.. seein as you're keeping thicker wood for the fire..
