  1. I'd dig round it, as far out as you can get then chop at the roots, might take an hour or two but hard work never killed no one.. Tools... a good spade an axe an a farm jack if you can get hold of one... if someone comes, I'd pay no more than sixty quid... from my limited experience, those stump grinders charge by the inch on the circumference, get it measured before you call one..
  2. The population is aging.. that aging population needs workers to pay em their pensions.. Hence immigration is encouraged, no matter what any politician might say..
  3. What if,,,,, we leave the EU and end up broker?... What if,,, after promising to clamp down on Migrants, we get even more?... Did you know.... That Britain's economy is projected to pass that of Germany by the 2050's... I wonder how that was worked out!!!!!,,, because we are going to import more people than them.. Back to that silly woman on question question time. Gordon Brown "no more boom an bust".. David Cameron, we wont touch tax credits.. Gordon Brown was a complete moron, David Cameron isn't the Chancellor.. when asked if tax credits would be lowered, our dave should of told the interviewer to ask Mr Osborne seein as its up to him what happens there..
  4. Erm, I like that.. I wish I'd come across that before.. would of saved a lot of confusion over the years LOL..
  5. what do I do?... Wind the clock forward an hour or backwards an hour?... I wish they'd leave things be and stop confusing me...the set of *****
  6. Not sure woodchip laid down is much of an idea as a place for the dog to crap on, you'd be better with concrete or, taking the dog for a walk twice a day..
  7. Ha, I'm not an arborist/tree surgeon or what ever you call yourself.. So don't have an arb truck.. I do enjoy this forum and the community on it though... I have an Eliet pro 4 old version and a bearcat 5in that's god knows how old and showing. I was thinking about getting into tree work some years back, this forum has sort of rekindled that somewhat... Then theres the phone to take pics, no idea how to get any pics on here even if I had something to show.. But,,, If,N, I did use my tranny pickup as an arb truck you'd more than likely see it decked out in a couple of ply boards with a piece of wood nailed across the top to give it a bit of strength for the day... just enough to stop the thing blowing off.... Unlike someone I once knew who bodged a horsebox onto a 7'5 tonner, went out in on the motorway, came back without his roof... "wheres the roof", I said. F*ed if I know, it was on when I set off......
  8. Damn, get back to posting up some pics.. I like seeing what people have or how they get by with stuff.. who gives a monkeys about insurance? its not like they send people out to investigate accidents is it..
  9. Watched this a month ago as I had the same problem as you on a bearcat.. [ame] [/ame] If you can weld, you can fashion your own bearing puller, I'll be making mine when I can be bothered to get back to my stuck bearing..
  10. Tax credits!!! they should sort out housing before owt else... and immigration, and stop lying about that as well. Government has a secret agenda to bring in millions more immigrants, Labour and conservative.. shysters both..
  11. that's exactly what I'm talking about... Find a use that makes economic sense... in your case it did makes sense, with a great big power station it has to be subsidized.. I'm in the middle of burning a bunch of woodchip on the rayburn, got it for free so it makes sense to me...
  12. Oh dear, the problem isn't the value of currency, but the economics of burning woodchip... At the moment its being subsidized.. throwing good money after bad,,its like buying diesel from some bodger down the road for 2 pound a litre, rather than buying from the forecourt for 120p a litre... If woodchip is going begging in Britain, then perhaps someone might look into what else can be done with it that makes economic sense..
  13. might as well as power this power station with brand new fifty pound notes for what good burning woodchip does...
  14. Seems you got it tied down there Maria. doin the same stuff is a bore if your askin me, better to have a couple of bows to your string... I dont do many tree jobs myself, but after joining this forum I think I should attempt to do a bit more.. Idleness seems to be my Achilles heel, see a bit of rain an it be like kryptonite to me..
  15. I was doin a privet hedge not long back, an some scum bag nicked my blower an chainsaw. I wouldn't mind but I was working not ten yards away grinding some rusty steel rail from inside the hedge at the time.. I was livid to say the least.. Heres how the little scroat did it, walked past casual like and if I was bent over grinding, took a chance and grabbed my stuff.. walked a few yards up the road and his sidekick drove by picked him up or he threw the tackle into the van.. At one point, I saw them in action but didn't realize what was goin on till I was ready to clean up an couldn't find my blower.. I nearly accused my customer of nicking the stuff till I remembered that young blonde haired lad crossing the road then veering off.. Anyways, I always takes my stuff into the back gardens now, lessons learned an all that... addendum,,, if you see a gypo passing by slow, double up on security...real fast...
  16. the clue is in the advertised application, tow paths an such.. Places were a really good finish isn't really expected..
  17. Jeremy Corbin's brother Pier's Corbin has his own weather forecasting site.. Recons he gets better results with his forecasts than the MET, trouble is, you have to pay to see em.. Welcome I wouldn't trust any of em myself... but I did notice one thing on Corbins site, according to him, the gulf stream has been more wavy over the past thirty years. which made me wonder, the gulf stream might be right over London one day, gone the next.. Gone with any chance of snow to boot... who said you're better off voting on the weather?..
  18. Post a review after you've had a go... I was thinking of getting one of these little chippers, but have to wait on finances improving first.. But its a choice of this chipper and a CS100 or Joe Bue thingy
  19. Of course it did, but is it an excuse?... who else has killed their wife because knott Weed was growing nearby?... Its a simple case of a crank doing something dumb because his mind wasn't right... bear in mind a woman is dead, and somehow someone talks about knott weed as though it aught be relevant to her demise... I know we default to looking at cases like this as tragic, but really, we aught look again and see it as murder and suicide... His suicide, her murder... Contempt for him, sadness for her...
  20. This wasn't about Knott Weed, its about some numpty murdering his wife over the value of the house..
  21. I'm not sure whats being got at here.. I too was puzzled with the mention of safety implications. I suppose you aught to tell us why you want to know.. Are you buying one, have one or other.. Are you worried about safety?.. or has someone you know chopped their finger off on some broken down chipper?..
  22. Tattoos are a fashion accessory, like lipstick or high heels.. That's it, that's all there is to it...
  23. As an over fifty year old, "just about", I can't say sex is high on my list of priorities.. But I do love to chat with my customers putting the world to rights... Nothing like a hot cup of coffee a couple of bickys and pronouncing judgement on all and sundry... Or, by way of a change, discussing our aches an pains, those we have and those about to come...
  24. You know I spent the best part of fours hours reading this thread about wee chippers last week. I must say, I enjoyed every minute of it. it got me to thinking I should start doing some more tree work myself, nothing fancy, the odd conifer once in a while .. Now then, where can I get a nice wee chipper?...
