  1. 4 or 5 small stumps?.... One Axe, One Spade.. trade your own time for the money saved on hiring a stump grinder..
  2. When you get goin, its as important to learn to say "no" as it is yes... Nothin worse than takin on jobs you wish you never took on...
  3. I'd stick the mini chipper in the trailer with the logs, use the back of the pickup for chippings... I suspect the only real difference betwixt a mini chipper and 6inch towed affair is time saved chipping.. You could buy a ten inch chipper then you'd need a much bigger truck all of a sudden.. Best to keep it simple at first, take your time as you learn your craft and build your equipment base on your experience and needs..
  4. But is the chancellor behind his Prime Minister?... a cat fight brewing maybe.. She's been handed plenty!!.. she's only gettin on with it because her hand was forced in the first place by Boris and his troup of clowns.. Lets face it, she's at the startin line with all eyes bearing down, and she's loosening up, flickin her fingers breathin heavy and askin everyone to give her a minute as she psych's herself up before the race... Lets just hope she don't fall flat on her face as she crosses the startin line... And, I'm not tryin to make the land fit the map, so much as mapping out events as they unfold....
  5. If Buckinbilly says its OK, then its OK.. I subscribe to his channel, the man knows his stuff..
  6. well thats funny, only read this morning about some big wig in Europe havin to abandon a press conference on the subject because he expected her to invoke clause 50 yesterday... Sounds to me, its matter of to much happening all at once for her to handle.. what with the chancellors uturn and Nicola Sturgeons indyref 2..
  7. I'd be makin the same point about the EU and Brexit... Maybe Theresa May is doin just that as we speak.. she was due to invoke article 50 yesterday.. what happened?.. Is it all getting a bit real now she's at the starting line?.. the knee's knockin the nightmares keepin her awake?..
  8. Wondered what you was gettin at at first LOL,, Yea, you might have a place reading the tea leaves.. though the timing of the change of heart was down to Nicola Sturgeon... Always a good time to bury bad policy decisions during a media storm about somethin else..
  9. I wasn't havin a go at you, ya numpty, just the odd post I've happened on over the last year or so... The saftey nazi's an such....
  10. Good job Mick, listening to some on here, I'm gettin the impression some would rig up every bit of kit to hand to take down one limb rather than have the job done in ten minute's with a bit of improvisation...
  11. :thumbup1:
  12. Yes, Thats the one I have..
  13. well I was thinking if you weren't a fully kitted out tree chopper.. You might have a rope an a chainsaw an nothin else, so needed to think what could be done with whats lying around... I mean, its been said many a time on here that tree surgeons aught to use cranes and heavy lifting gear to get a tree down as best practice.. Who does that 24/7? no one.. My point being, the wheel thingy is better than nothin at a pinch... Or, the pics mean't to be funny as a redneck method, but its not really such a bad idea when you think about it... given the limited resources that someone might have...
  14. Yea well, I realise things have moved on, but that wheel would do at a pinch if you had nothin else to hand.. bearing in mind if the load wasn't to great.. I'd of doubled up on the ratchet strap mind.. And why I'm about it, the circumference of the wheel would be better than today's bollards in some regards due to the size of the thing.... less friction on the rope..
  15. I was going to say, whats wrong with that?.. seems like a good idea..

Oh thats what they are, now you've explained it I can see they're cartridge cases, couldn't imagine what they were before... that pink plasticy thing made me think it might be something toylike... havin said all that, I can't for the life of me understand why anyone would get exited about shootin a gun, real one or air rifle... Seems like a complete waste of time... each to their own though I suppose...

Not sure what your gettin at, as I'm not even sure what type of gun it is nicks got... They all look the same to me... though the accoutrements in the pic made me think its a toy gun of sorts.. So basically I'm a bit confused, why not put me out my misery... and explain all...

Is that an air rifle?.. if it is you'd love a friend of mine. get him talking about air guns and he'll rabbit on so much you'd think he could talk under water..
  19. Funny because I just watched the vid again and seen the stump move with his little tractor in view... now, instead of comin up with a mad conspiracy, you might want to investigate the use of mechanical advantage... Surprised me what can be done with a snatch block and good ropes...
  20. Just for the curious, I watched this a year or two back... surprised what can be done with a few bits of equipment.... [ame] [/ame] years back when I did a big root removal for the first time, all I had was a bow saw, axe and a few trench spades... spent a week digging round and under it to get it free.. then a local farmer dragged it out with his tractor... Looking back I'm shocked I didn't kill myself digging under it to undermine it..... It looked like a FWW trench system in the making LOL.. never again!!!..
  21. Is this a Brexit tax?.. Making preparations for the new economy to come... When the economy tanks, those that can, figure a way to make ends meat through self employment... Hammond figures he can get his blows in first.. better to have the higher tax in place before a crash, than after one.... I expect NI will rise for all next time round, easier to jack that up than income tax.... Still, Brexit's gotta be paid for somehow, might as well tax those who voted for it hadn't we....
  22. When its quiet at the station I suppose a tree choppin job might not seem a bad idea. But in an emergency, they aught phone a tree surgeon up an get them to remove any fallen tree's... Tree Surgeon, chops down tree's Fireman, puts out fires.... A brain, somethin we use to see where a reliable tree surgeon might be contacted, I'm sure firemen have them like everyone else...
  23. Yea, I'd say its not far off the mark, and less time figuring what lifes all about and more time livin it.... Now, if only I might follow my own advice. Trouble is, I'm only happy when I'm miserable... Damn...
  24. Heard that quote a few times over the years.. Whats being said is the oil age isn't going to end when we use the last drop of oil, but when the oil thats left isn't enough to satisfy demand.. In fact the new buzzword in the industry is just that "peak demand".. The push for renewable's is all part of the process of conserving whats left in the ground.. It might be dressed up as an attempt to address climate change, but its not really, its about oil scarcity in the coming decades and trying in some way to prep for its impact...
  25. Not so fast, about Peak Oil... I've done hundreds of hrs of investigation on the subject, and what I found terrified me...
