I find big ladders helps with throwlines. I throw like a girl so i gave up on those bloody things... Luckily the others can throw so i hate myself cause they make it look so easy.. Still prefer ladders and throwing ahead

Yeah ive seen some needles on jobs but it was before i was doing tree work.We are provided with a sharps container and just use litter pickers to pick up any needles we come across.Tbh id be asking the gaffer to be pulled off site if i came across any

Ok so pulling down 2 willows over the last 2 days on a plot of rough land next to a path just behind a row of houses. We took 11 bags of litter out that plot! Granted it hadent been touched in donkeys years but wtf is wrong with people? Theres 2 bins on this path one at either side.. Whats even more annoying is the amount of alcohol containers we took out the place-every possible alcohol vessel you can name we picked it and bagged it many times over. We found the obligitory pair of nasty undies but alas no porn mags which is the norm hidden in bushes. We often get our fair share of litter pickin once an area has been opened up but f#$k me this was unreal! I just dont get people at times Pisses me off

Not in my experience.If its as a subbie climber then its definetly a nessecity to have all your own gear but you've just started, so for me its a wee bonus but most firms have extra kit lying around unused anyway.

I really dont get the big bar syndrome,ive crosscut big stems and felled fair sized trees with a 22 or 25" bar. Its not the size its how you use it... Just ask my wife..

Im pretty sure most big gardening stores will carry some arb equipment.Some may even order some gear in if your in and out the shop regular.

Yeah its very frustrating there are plenty down south but just a few up here.Ive got one on my doorstep-Hamilton brothers in Bishopton.Theres another Hamilton brothers in Tarbolton in ayrshire and another in Campbeltown. The one near me has a fairly decent selection of arb gear but its not really competative in price or selection of stock with the big online suppliers down south.

Subbing for different companies is dicey. The few ive worked for have been decent but one sticks out in my head,the job was in edinburgh,nowt dodgey just a row of connies to come down,me and another climber and 2 ground guys,i turned up to find 1x 17 year old lad with a couple of weeks experience draggin and chipping. The boss had dropped him of with the chipper and took the other lads to another job. I walked.. To be honest i only work for the companies who i know to be decent but its getting to know whos good and who are shadey barstewards-thats the tricky bit.

I know very few on heres names or where they live. If i know there name its because they use there name ie mark bollam, joe newton or steve bullman. There are others on here who use different names timber cutter dartmore,silky fox or difflock...i dont know there names and i dont care.
