  2. Agreed. Too some, who are prone to,or even in positions that are overly exposed to the modern worlds facination with political correctness, its inconceivable to imply men were the ones who made nations great. Dont let historical facts get in the way...
  3. Are you saying if we were governing our former colonies they would be peaceful, prosperous and stable? We cant even do that in our own country kevin
  4. We should really conscider changing the name of this thread to "arguements with matelot..." Doesnt matter if you agree or disagree with him,its good reading.
  5. Ooh thats clever... All work and no play makes johnny a dull boy... Creepy as f##k!
  6. Ok if wanker IS a sweary word can we use serial masterbator? Or is that takin the piss.. Ooh damn my swearing tourettes.. Hold on is damn a swear word too? Im confused and my heads starting to hurt...
  7. Whats wrong with wanker then? Ive seen worse on here recently Wanker Wanker Wanker... No ones offended.. See..
  8. Simple answer here is mewp. Clearly you have doubts climbing and rigging it down and imho its completely merrited,id be the same. Take the safest option and use a mewp.
  9. I dont use eardefenders in summer just a lid with earplugs and visor/safety specs
  10. Doesnt look as though there's ear defender attatchments but with all that ventilation it looks like a good summer helmet. http://www.skylandequipment.com/petzl-boreo-helmet.html?options=cart&utm_source=Skyland+Newsletter&utm_campaign=4270a5805a-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_2018_02_23&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_f5514cc113-4270a5805a-98480569&mc_cid=4270a5805a&mc_eid=52571b75d6
  11. I dont climb srt that often, mostly for access so i use my 12.5mm everyday rope(yale xtc i think) I use my zigzag and rope wrench. Tried a prune with srt last week and found it less of a challenge than i thought,no friction around the tree made for getting out on tips alot easier than on ddrt.
  12. Always book mines in for a pre mot check just incase something crops up. My neighbour does all my vans mechanical work, picks it up drops it off. Great. Cheers for sharing that though eggs always good to know of legal changes
  13. You've gone way down in my estimation mark. Think he's good wait till you get toe to toe with my good friend matelot...oooft. Actually matelot has been known to talk some sense...unlike vesp...just dont mention cheddar man or immigration to matelot...
  14. My first saw was a seesaw... I was about 5 i think... Fell off the first time... I'll get me coat....
  15. We need a wanker button on here.. Pronto... Vesp i dont think he was highlighting the fact he was leaving the forces just filling us in on his back story.
  16. For saws look at the 3 main brands stihl husky and echo.Dont be tempted by any of the chinese shite thats out there just now. As for ppe well thats a very personal choice. Some will recommend a certain brand or type and others will slate em. From personal experience ive had good and bad trousers from stihl, husky and breathflex.Only trousers id recommend that i really couldnt fault are pfanner gladiators.Very expensive but the only trousers ive had that have lasted a couple of years.Look at getting a pair as an investment. Boots are the same and are dependant on whether your doin ground work or climbing.2 types id say were my favourites-ground work meindl woodwalkers or hiax forestry. Climbing-andrews cervino woods. If your climbing then you want an all round boot and my andrews have been faultless so far.Rugged, chunky, lots of support, maybe a wee bit on the heavy side but i love em and are decent in spikes aswell. As for helmets ive yet to find one that fits my weird shaped head but most folks go for the petzl vertex vent and its a pretty decent helmet but there are lots of others out there. Im currently wearing a kask but that will get sacked when the summer comes in for my vertex which is a cooler lid to wear. Prepared to be confused as some other will recommend there personal favourites. Good luck mate
  17. Whats the issue with zz and ivy steve? Never had a problem doin ivy covered trees with mine so far
  18. Everytime zigzag is mention someone brings up the recall issue. To be clear that was the zz mk1,no problems with the zz 3,the current device. Great bit of kit,can also be used in srt if your brave enough. Cant comment on sj3 but id like a go on one
  19. So did i...army cadets, lee enfield 303. Quite a kick if i remember right. At the end of the shooting we had to hold our hands up and swear an oath that we didnt nick any live rounds... Can you imagine that nowadays lol
  20. Yeah theres a couple of ways you could do it just depends where the best area to have the branches on the ground is. Ideally you would rig the redirect over the desired drop zone although that might not be possible. Is an adjustable speedline with a tag line an option?
  21. Im on my 2nd pair of andrews and love em,hated meindl airstreams. Someones getting a pair of really good boots.
  22. Could u set up a rigging pulley on the tree your working on with a redirect pulley on the tree next too you ty ? Obviously it might mean some branches being tagged lined to keep them out of the drink but at least you can take big sections
