  1. Got teufelberger dragonfly think its 11.1mm with Art positioner, works well no creep.lanyards still pretty new though and its part of my personal kit for subbing homers etc not my "main job" kit.I use a petzl zillon at work...wouldnt recommend that. Only good thing about that CE lanyard is the little thimble prussik-very handy
  2. Aha thats not what you said though is it.. You said name 1 invention to come out the middle east in the last century... Now your sayin few inventions... Im not being defensive im answering your questions. The only truth is your makin an ass of yourself AGAIN and attempting to spin it round on those who disagree with your..well bollocks seems very apt here. Im tired of proving you wrong, its boring, your too easy matelot too easy. I like a challenge..
  3. Im surprised by the amount of climbers who dont like spiking stems. When i did my rigging course one of the guys refused to wear spikes and dismantled part of a massive beech stem with out spikes, just girth hitched 2 taped slings together wrapped around the stem as footholds...took him ages of faffing about too take down each section. On skinny stems (i hate skinny leaners) i double lanyard 1 wrapped around couple of times and onto the rings on my bridge and a wire core flipline on my D's.
  4. Heres an idea... Do what i did. Google search inventions from the middle east in the last 100 years. A long list will appear. Read the list.. Absorb the information. Adapt your opinion inlight of the new information you've taken on... Breath...
  5. Just too prove your an idiot heres one The powerVR graphics accelarator card was invented in 1996 by Iranian Hossian Yassaie. Just one of many i could find. Thanks google
  6. You asked for inventions i gave you examples. Dont get prissy because you've made an arse of yourself AGAIN. Perhaps if you could use google you wouldnt make an arse of yourself
  7. Just looked at nptc assesment schedule for cs 31 small tree felling. Candidate must be able to indentify risk assesment for the work to be carried out. If the candidate needs to know the risk assesment then they will have to know how the risk assesment is formed through the 5 steps. I had to on my cs 31 course and all courses thereafter
  8. Coffee was first brewed in Yemen. The first recorded hospital with free health care was in cairo in the 9th century.(not middle eastern i know but muslim) The toothbrush was a middle eastern concept although they used urine to clean there teeth...
  9. Were not electing officials here though are we,we were asked if we wanted to stay or leave the EU. Majority voted to leave,we leave-its that simple in my mind As much as id love another crack because- as you do- i think the vote would go the other way, but i think its wrong. Imagine being asked a question You answer, only to be asked the same question over and over till you change your answer. Politicians and officials could use this as a precedence to demand more elections if the didnt like the first result. If it starts here where does it end?
  10. Whether your a remainer or leaver is irrelevant here.We had a vote, the majority voted to leave and thats that. If we start to have repeat referendums/elections because the powers at be dont like the result then our democratic system is a complete arse.
  11. Nope thats too easy. C mon lets pretend were at the pub and i asked you this question. Whats a hardcore racist?
  12. Yeah yeah we agree on something blah blah... Whats a hardcore racist?
  13. Guarenteed its the one thing you will definetly be asked..the 5 steps of risk assesment.
  14. Granted taking a skilled surgeon away from a hospital will mean a loss in skilled personell for that particular hospital which just happens to be in a third world nation. But the key word here is choice. That skilled worked CHOSE to leave and go work abroad, as you did. It freed up a position that will be filled by another doctor. In my opinion most foreign nhs staff train here then decide to seek employment here as its a better option..its that simple. How many doctors and nurses from 1st world nations go out to third world countries to work for aid /charity organisations? Can you explain to me what a hardcore racist is? In my mind your either racist or your not I dont understand the term "hardcore racist"
  15. You missed the point completly! You use words like poached, most come here of there own free will. You paint a picture of us colonial types goin over to a third world nation and cherry pickin all the "useful" johnny foreigners puttin black bags over there heads and kidnaping them to use in our own country, leaving the third world nation to crumble in ever increasing poverty and degredation. Thats just not the case! That aside,i find it a bit bloody rich you calling anyone a racist... Come on! Your constant theme is one of racism and bigotry. Im not judging you,i couldnt give a toss what you think, but i enjoy reading your posts as they conjure discussion and entertainment. We all have a right to express our opinions irrelevant of how anyone else feels but at least be honest about your opinions.
  16. I wish i had the skill of being able to unread something... Once you've read it-its in your head... Thanks difflock! Matelot....your arguement seems to be were taking all the doctors and nurses from 3rd world countries, thats not the whole truth really is it? Its more of the case that they WANT to come here to work.We wouldnt need foreign NHS staff if more our younger people werent put off getting into the NHS by shite wages, long hours and constant restraints of performance targets that do f#ck all but put more pressure on a system that already at breaking point. How many foreign students come here to study medicine then go straight into our NHS as junior doctors or trainee nurses? Id wager a bloody high percentage because its the more attractive prospect. Ive seen hospitals in africa and the middle east as im sure some on here have too ..theyre woefully under resoursed and under staffed by qualified personell. If you had the choice where would you chose to work?
  17. Good reading as always... Best quote goes to kevinjohnstombe for this belter... "As slippery as a slippery thing"
  18. A good 2 and a half foot here in glasgow this morning.Lots more snow too top it up today.Snowed in! Bored already...
  19. Cheers joe. Ive been using it mostly on prunes so im not fighting against friction constantly, but clipping in the ct for even little ascents feels weirdly lazy haha Working for my la we dont do many big dismantles,30-60 foot trees, prune, pollard or removals is our bread n butter. Still not great at goin out on limbs yet but i think im still thinkin on ddrt technique rather than thinkin about redirects to drop down onto limbs. Being more upright on ascents is a big plus, ive had ascenders for ages but i was guilty of just hip thrusting and tending slack on my zz goin up on ddrt. Im tryin to persevere with srt and hopin one day it'll click
  20. Never walk under a hung up tree or walk in front of the tree when the fellers doin the back cut. These are the only instances where ive heard people fail a felling course. Learn 5 steps to risk assesment aswell. As stubby says relax enjoy it and hope the tutors not an arsehole... Assesors are usually great but you do get the odd tutor who's a total bellend Good luck mate
  21. Funnily enough i was watching a mark bingham(srt & rope wrench) video on youtube earlier and he does the same which seems to be the opposite to what everyone else does. Im still finding srt a challenge and my elbows dont seem to be gettin a break...
  22. Ive been experimenting with liros hitch cord and a pinto in hc setup rather than the zz in srt.If i leave the zz on im tempted to go ddrt up the tree. Still easier to change over to ddrt with zz rw setup though
  23. I started off grounding for a mate of a mate and built up from there. I now get regular work from him,but i completetly understand its a slow process to build a rapport with tree companies as most are wary of new guys/climbers and have there own guys. Unless you've got 10 years experience with knowledge and experience of big technical takedowns your on too plums! I get more work from gardeners than tree companies now but that comes with its issues as most of em dont climb and wont pay for a groundie/rescue climbers. I can charge more though cause i bring all my own kit.
  24. Go part time subbie, once you make some good contacts the work will roll in. First 2 years are always the hardest. Ive known a couple of guys local to me go belly up in the 1st year. Its a hard industry to get a foothold in. So much competition
  25. Problem is the press(isnt it always) making out like snow is the biggest ball ache in the world...chaos will ensue....public transport will suffer....people will have to stay home. Its snowing...it happens in winter, big f#kn deal!!
