  1. Makes you wonder why it failed loler if it can still pull chippers about..
  2. Best way to deal with gorse it get someone else to do it I find its really easy that way
  3. Hello all,Since im grounded just now, weathers horrendous in scotland right now,i was wondering whats the worst thing you've done too your rope and still climbed on it. Ive seen lots of rope abuse, pulling tops of,lowering on the end of your climbing rope, pulling chippers out of seriously deep mud, nicks with silkys just to name a few, funnily enough most of this abuse has been in the subbie work ive been involved in. Im not guilty of all of the above but i admit ive cut some corners to get the job done on time. Anyone else guilty of rope abuse...?
  4. Very true, ive worked with a guy with a treehog harness with 2 rings on the bridge and the clinking is very annoying!
  5. Ive never bought a saw online and never will. I like to give the buisness to local dealers and i like to see the saw, feel its weight in my hand before i purchase. Local dealers i find will give little extras into the deal aswell, some 2 stroke stihl shot bottles, some files or a new maintenance kit. Maybe its just the tight arsed scotsman in me..!
  6. Hi joell,Ive had the same conundrum myself, ive put a swivel on my treemotion bridge and left the ring on.It just my preference and gives you the option to use the ring if the swivel isnt required. To be honest you could go both ways with this ring on or not its personal preference really. As for the ring not goin to the right,i dont quite understand your point mate:confused1:
  7. Nice lippy jon,not sure if the red does your eyes justice. Go for a rich pink...you go girl!
  8. Buy crap item made by crap company get crap customer service. Trading standards or citizens advice id think. Next time use a reputable dealer. Hope its not an expensive lesson learned mate
  9. Ive seen people get work because its one of the most expensive quotes. I think some people believe the higher the quote dictates the quality of the job when thats just not the case. Perhaps its how you are presenting yourself thats costing you work. Difficult to price any job on pictures alone with no clue as to logistics, wage demands and running costs, but 2 men approx 5 hours is 400-450 job lot.
  10. Merry chrimbo to you and your family jon.Dont overdo it on the turkey and cider mate
  11. 50-60 mph gusts and heavy rain here in glasgow. On call over christmas, hope its calm!
  12. Just some quality time at home and being able to switch off for 4 days will be greatly appreciated.
  13. The wifes got a hog roast..im not quite sure as too what cut it is but i love pork.Im sure it ll be great.
  14. General rule is if it sounds too good to be true then it is. That chipper looks like it should have donkey ears to me...no offence meant stefan but a better chipper would be an investment.
  15. I think to the untrained eye pollarding(in the UK anyway) is looked upon as being lazy. People expect the tree to be specifically pruned and shaped to enhance the appearance, most people are ignorant to the benefits of pollarding in some species.Just my opinion. Im just not that experienced in the tree industry yet to know if its a trend or not.
  16. Cant even picture that in my head.Whats the benefits even if its possible...?
  17. Phone round your local tree surgeons, ask if anyone is taking on staff.Be prepared to work hard and start at the bottom, its a dirty job, drag and chip brash, banksman, assist the climber etc. You might be better putting your money into driving with trailer licence and a basic chainsaw ticket than goin to college on an arb course. Obviously this advice isnt location specific but is pretty generic to anyone in your situation. Good luck
  18. Haha yeah jon but 880's dont crap all over the kitchen floor.Seriously though pigs are smart creatures, loyal and easy to train ive been told.
  19. Seriously though get your basic chainsaw ticket, spend a couple of years honing your skills becoming good groundie, then aim for the sky
