  1. Hey all,Just looking for some advice on the best way to clean my zigzag,it was pretty bad with dirt and grime etc. Ive blown an airline around it removing most of the crud, however some seems pretty solid. Would it be ok to wash with hot soapy water and a old toothbrush..? Any advice gladly welcome Thank you in advance folks
  2. Impressive piece of kit.Wouldnt think it would be cost effective on smaller jobs though
  3. Yeah just clocked that joe,i was talking about the hitch climber set up as in my photo-as homer would say-doh!
  4. I find hitches are down to the individuals requirements and sayin one hitch is not good is an opinion and not a fact. I know climbers who use hitches but adjust them acordingly eg add a braid,a turn or even simplefy them slightly according to there specific requirements. I run a two wrap distel on my lanyard as 3 wraps bites to hard, this would be considered wrong by purists but it works for me. I agree the VT needs tending often but ive found it to work better with my own adjustments.Again it comes down to the climbers preferences and climbing style.
  5. I take it you mean hitch climber set up? If so.... What hitch do you run?,if its VT it needs another braid or sometimes if you spin it around 180 till the back end of the hitch faces you,i find sometimes that works. If the hitch cord or the rope is new, that might be a factor too. Ive found in the past not all types of hitch cord and ropes "bite" well.Experiment with different types of cord and hitches, try distel hitch or michoacan.
  6. Even cheaper version👍
  7. So what makes it retractable...the gaps?
  8. I use a prussik on my climbing line on the stem,if your still unsure- as above figure 8 your flipline.
  9. As long as they get me in tree,on a friday when im goosed and cant be a#@ed then they're a godsend!
  10. Husky 360 x torq-4.8 bhp would suit. R u lookin for new or 2nd hand saw?
  11. Avoid the new-ish stihl range,im not impressed with the ones ive used.Husky might be the road to go down. What do you intend to use a new saw for?
  12. Something with some grunt might be nice..?
  13. So yours is bigger than mines..
  14. We only use em to get to 1st limb on friday afternoons lol
  15. Telescopic jobs,extend to over 12 foot
  16. By the stubs on it ,def coniferous-may well be leylandii. Hard to say for sure, pics not great.
  17. cheerz darrin, maybe santa will bring me one!
  18. Does that have the barrell at the bottom like the dmm revolver? I try to use my revolver at the TIP combined with zigzag as often as poss, really smooth.
  19. What about these ? Good on lanyards, another triple lock version
  20. Being reletivley new to tree work, the dmm triple locking are the only ones ive used.Never had a problem with them. Ive seen the ball locks but i couldnt say which on is safer in tree
  21. Ive picked up chainsaw trousers on ebay,2nd hand but looked and felt like brand new on ebay for half the retail price. Its worth a look, especially when trousers are so expensive. As for gloves, boots helmet etc buy new is best.
  22. Telescopic ladders take up minimal room, down side is they ll only get you to the 1st limb
  23. Who said it wasnt? In the right circumstances of course
