  1. Hello all, I- along with a lot of others -love climbing on the zigzag, its so smooth and easy to use, however the only down side i see is its not midline attachable and for me it kinda annoys me that such a great product is just slightly let down by this. Im no expert or engineer but surely the boffins at petzl could come up with a design that allowed the zigzag to be midline attachable...possibley a swing cheek version. Anyone any other ideas... Thanks all stay safe
  2. Im always wary of any saw being promoted as a farm saw, homeowners saw or landscapers saw...a good quality saw will do whatever is asked of it time and time again...no need for all that specialist saw bollocks
  3. Enjoy your job weather in glasgow today, sun shine, wee bit frosty but...NO RAIN....yipeeeeee!
  4. Theyre all good saws so get any one of them or get them all...
  5. Yip its a pollard alright,is it a repollard?
  6. Totally agree, sucks the enjoyment out of the job and productivity goes down the toilet.
  7. Some peope prefer a chainsaw but if i can i'll always use the silky,i use a 330mm zubat curved blade which ive even used to chog down some skinny stems. If the curved blade puts you off then the gomatro and natanoko which are also good. As said before they can inflict nasty cuts be careful
  8. Absolutley awful this morning, heavy rain and bloody cold. Seems to have brightend up now...even a bit of blue sky on the horizon.
  9. Looks like interesting work.thanks for sharing that matty
  10. In a word no,its not teeth more like cams forcing the rope to zigzag back and forth against them locking the rope in position.Had mine lolered recently, inspector wrote monitor for stress fractures...how many mk 1's actually fractured...very few,ive got the mk3.
  11. Be careful if your using 13mm rope with a spliced eye as it can interfere with the hitch
  12. It depends on your hitch cord and rope combination imo,ive used distel with tachyon rope and viper eye to eye hitch cord and found it too bitey, espescially in the wet. VT is a good hitch but in my experience needs tending now and again,as for knut this with the michoacan are great hitches ive found work well with tachyon rope and teufelberger hitch cord. Try different combos and see whats best for you.
  13. Check serial numbers and cross reference them with stihl online services....??? Ive got a 038av and ive only ran a 20inch bar on it but im sure it could go up a couple of inches if its still pulling well
  14. Buy one of the new stihl chainsaws...it'll be broke in no time...
  15. I didnt mind the length of the video, nice tree killing my man.
  16. If it was my choice the 024 simpley cause its tbe oldest, but its difficult to let the older saws go as theyve been with u so long and always done wot u asked of them...its a pickle good luck
  17. Towing ticket is preferable than using a chainsaw off rope and harness ticket for me and many others i know.
  18. Losing hiviz vests is my pet peev...how hard is it to leave it in the van when ur finished...hmf!
  19. If im understanding you right, when you use the HC system you are ascending and after 3 or 4 pulls you have to hold your bodyweight to pull the slack through the hitch and pulley. Its actually easier to attach a prussik loop to the bridge on your harness and on to the caribiner on the pulley. This means you are underneath the hitch and slack will be self tending. There are many threads on this system and other variations just look up hitch climber on the thread search. Good luck stay safe
  20. Im in the same position, minus the chipper,im just biding my time till i go it alone...go for it,if you dont you'll always question why you didnt.
  21. As tommy said best use ovals, thats why they sell them with the HC kits.It is acceptable to use other biners but if u do id recommend those little rubber stoppers on the biner to prevent side loading.
  22. Yes 038 av is a good saw,the mag is better. Fix it run it you"ll luv it
  23. If your climbing best with type c all round protection chainsaw trousers...all trousers will bake your nads...but pfanner gladiators are my recommendation
