  1. I understand and have been in your situation. Don't chip anything you haven't cut yourself. Never let the machine out of your sight on a job. If it sits there for a few days not working, don't worry, it's not depreciating either. I've had a tw150 for 13 years, it stopped owing me money after 3 years.
  2. We had one of those years ago when we lived on a dairy farm. When the moths hit it was like the Green Mile.
  3. Look to the right of the screen for the site sponsors. Unless you're looking for shin pads.
  4. I hired a 2.5t machine for 333€ Delivered and picked up. Unbelievable value IMO.
  5. The other thing to remember re. Diggers/chipper is that a digger will last maybe 5000 hrs, maybe more. A 35hp chipper, a lot less, these things are factored into hire costs.
  6. About the same here for a TP of a similar size, weekly is a better deal.
  7. Thanks for the clarification, How much can one be hired for? £100 quid a day?
  8. A lot will depend on the size of chipper of course.
  9. If you're chipping all day you'll use 30 quids worth of fuel, blades, etc. In short much too cheap for a chipper AND operator.
  10. The whole green waste question has changed over the last 20 years. You used to be able to pay a farmer to push it up in a corner of his yard to burn for a few quid a month. Those days are gone, as Gary says, adapt, find someone to take the chip and logs and get with the program.
  11. You'd think that wouldn't you? yet many Americans think the answer is more guns, everyone armed, everywhere.
  12. I won't comment on the charges. As a presenter I've always admired his willingness to take risks in his career, even if they don't work out. Taking over after Wogan was a risk, many wanted him to fail but he did very well. Top Gear was another risk, I watched it, he wasn't very good, Matt Leblanc was. I'd hope (prolly in vain) in life I'd be more like him, a chance taker, not scared to fail rather than a sneerer from the sidelines, willing him to fail to make me feel better about my own lack of ambition.

    Euro 2016

Sensational header, he's taking them to the final on his own.
  14. French horse flies Mark, their tastes are very.....singular.
  15. Yesterday was a bad one for us, by a stream in a hollow, they were biting through my sweat soaked shirt. Unpleasant!
  16. Large oak stump from a tree we did earlier this week.
  17. I can't imagine anyone not doing a bit of weekend work on the side, good way of supplimenting income. You're far more likely to injure yourself playing rugby or football. Like to see an employer stop that!
  18. I'm on it, but never post. I like pumpkin the raccoon and various dog pictures. Twitter is my favourite social media ATM. Especially in the last 10 days.
  19. Congratulations on buying the house Ian, I remember you saying that's why you were working so many hours. Good feeling.
  20. The big guy with sign written vans could not tip, the little guy with magnetic signs who popped in every now and then could.
  21. More that you look like a home owner rather than a professional.
  22. I guess one has to delay the jobs where you need a chipper where possible. But at the same time you have to keep the scoreboard ticking over. I had the same thing happen recently with my Forst. Luckily I've kept my tw150 as a back up. We did a 3 grand hedge job with it while the Forst was "off the road" I was going to sell it, but I'll keep it now. It's already repaid its value as a back up.
