  1. I thought it was dislocated from modern life, but after googling I see what you mean. Can't see the point tbh.
  2. You having a giraffe? You're as techy/social media addicted as anyone.
  3. The vids do make it seem a bit clunky, three pot Isuzu.
  4. Very true, access is usually easy. We had a bit of an experiment yesterday used the tractor grab on a measured 350kg (we've only ever guessed at it lifting power) it had no issues at all. I may have underestimated it.
  5. Good spot Josh, thanks, the Cast/Pixy company seem to originate in Italy. I'm calling the guy today for a looksee.
  6. So, the plot thickens. The Giant might be out of the equation. Distance to dealer, waiting times. Hé put me on to this though, a "pixy" 35t with a 38hp Isuzu engine, 1200kg, 840kg alleged lift, telescopic. It's a few grand cheaper, but available right now. Anyone have any experience of these machines?
  7. All good stuff but why do people use the word "comfortable" all the time. It's not a word that ever comes to mind when I'm up there.
  8. Agreed Use some ratchet straps to hold the stems together as well.
  9. The CL was an irrelevance, the prospect of relegation was too real to ignore. They were in a tailspin, he didn't seem to have any answers. It was a magnificent achievement though. The money in the PL is so great, going down is unthinkable. It's a tough business for sure, he seemed like a decent guy, financially I wouldn't worry too much for him.
  10. Simon, I sympathise, genuinely, but the buck stops with you.
  11. I had an efco topper as my first saw 20 years ago, utter rubbish. Surely you should be telling us what it's like?
  12. A bitch she may be, but she brings money with her. 2 Douglas, birch, maple, cedar and a H. Chestnuts. Good job, went well.
  13. Yes thinning of the regrowth would be normal. The sap is rising at the moment, so it may bleed a bit. I've done them all year to no ill effect. Some might say wait till it's in leaf.
  14. Anything whatsoever to do with security or crime. All child rapists to be burnt at the stake.
  15. Thanks for the vid Domino. Great tool, but I think I'll pass on the tree shear. I think my mind is set for the Giant 245 telescopic.
  16. Any half decent tree surgeon could trim that sympathetically. You'll never go back to a truly natural form but taking it back to above previous cuts leaving a leader on each one would be doable. I'd guesstimate £200/250 to do it and take the arisings away.
  17. http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/chainsaws/92799-540-xp-rear-av-broken.html Bottom of page one on this thread. Skylands keep the new spring in stock.
  18. Ha ha! (No idea what my ropes name is btw, although judging by its appearance it could be Nick)
  19. I tried the zig zag, I didn't like the thin rope. Honestly, I don't find myself thinking "i wish I was more mobile around this tree" I do pretty much all take downs these days mind.
