  1. Maybe back it on and rest the arm on the loading ramp?
  2. Thank Rich. I honestly know less now than when started the thread!
  3. They're both brand new out of the box chains. The middle one of Dave's drawings seems to be it.
  4. Thanks Darrin, I can never be arsed with ordering off the Internet. Far too lazy
  5. I'm looking and looking and saying to myself "why isn't this hazel?" Then I'm thinking "who would not recognise hazel?" Maybe I'm nuts.
  6. Cheers Stubs, I figured there was a different file, guy didn't know anything about it.
  7. It's a fair question, as stated the pompiers here are usually fairly competent with "rural skills" Surely a two day course in basic bucking/compression/chainsaw basics would help the urban firemen, keep them off the porn for a bit anyways.
  8. Hi Mark, I popped in and he told me that they buy it in the boxes from Stihl already cut to length. He said to use an ordinary round file, is that right? (Chain cost €18 ex vat) As for the cutting, very nice indeed, very fast, doing a series of oak and acacia takedowns ATM so got the last loop they had in stock. What's this black art about sharpening these chains? If I'm honest I'd give myself a solid 7/10 with a file, I'll give it a go, but if it's a balls up at that price I'd throw one of these chains on for a couple of days if I had some bigger stuff to TD then bin it.
  9. We're not "destroying" our bodies. That's overdramatising it to the nth degree.
  10. Tbf agrimog, you're right, the industrial athlete thing is laughable.
  11. I've moved some decent sized leylandii, they died after two years. People always bleat on about instant hedges, truth is they don't "need" an instant hedge. They'd like one. Don't get caught up in it. Quote removal and replant.
  12. Looking at work, been a bit blowy to say the least!
  13. That's interesting, I've always thought hedge cutting was bloody hard work.
  14. Thanks for chipping back in Mark, I'm guessing they're making the loops themselves, I will ask though. Trust me, they're the same two chains in all the pictures.
  15. Thanks Sawchip, if it's ok with you Alec I'll pass on going out to the barn again! Spurs/Everton just got interesting.
  16. Yes they're stihl chains, I don't really ask for a specific sort but yesterday I asked for ones with the little lines on the top plate, they help me sharpen. Normally they give me Carlton. Here's the boxes they came in, might help. Although I don't know which is which now!
  17. They are definitely different chains Stubs.
  18. No, I've never seen it offered, let alone ready made in loops, interesting to see how it goes. I took one more picture as best as I could with the iPad. Square ground on the bottom.(or top! As this ones upside down)
