What's a good price for a good condition low use one?

Anyone know much or have any experience about these saws? Seem to be similar to a 660, but 5cc and a 1/2hp down. Could a 660 pot and piston go on if the need arise?

Yes. 18" bar that came with the saw, an oregon pro-light 24" and a husqvarna 28" with a standard semi chisel chain filed to 10 degrees. Would prefer a proper granberg chain, but hey-ho. You won't regret getting a 7900.

I use my 7900 for milling. It is fine on softwoods, cutting 18" plus boards running a 28" bar is no problem to it at all. I have cut some dead elm boards that came out as 22" wide and that was fine also. I recently milled an ash tree and it was the first time I felt I was being a little unkind to the saw. If you could find another £160 I would go for the 90cc makita for milling. As a saw though, the 7900 is a cracker. Light enough to use as a general saw and runs a 24" bar with ease. Where in Devon are you?

I thought I read somewhere that if the wood was cut in the summer the bark would stay on and likely to come off if cut in the winter. Or is it the other way around??? I have just made a little stool from summer cut cherry and the bark is still on the legs and I couldn't peel it off if I wanted to.

Horrible jumpy stretchy chains and they seem to really eat bars and drive sprockets. The cutters on the 3/8 chains seem way larger than on oregon or stihl, which is what makes them jumpy imho.

First one looks a bit like iroko, that smells quite distinctive when cut. Second could be well seasoned cherry??

I have a powerful stihl shop vac that would suck the face off of a henry or a dyson and that had no chance of dealing with the waste from the planer, hence the up-grade to a chip extractor.

Ended up getting one of these https://www.machinemart.co.uk/p/record-power-cx2000-compact-chip-collector/. Suits my needs fine for occasional use with my planer and bandsaw. As in reviews that I had read, I had to cut out the plastic screen on the fan housing to allow the chips to go through. A safety feature that stops the machine from working, whatever next. Sucks in the chips off of a 10" planer no problem. Not one for you professionals, but fine for a hobbyist.

I mill with a 7900, so the 9010 should breeze it. I'm deffo a makita convert and just picked up an ea5000 to go with the 7900.

Why not reject the delivery? If it is not as stated, don't pay, turn it away on the spot. No one learns if you except it.

The saw is brand new, so a little worried in sending you the standard in case it needs to go back on to preserve the warranty. How much are the standard ones and in your opinion does it make a big difference? Is there a standard zorst for the 7900/price?

Is there a non cat exhaust that will go on the ea5000 and is there really much benefit in going that route? The videos I have seen of the ea5000/5105 seem lke they have plenty of go in them as standard.

I found that if someone used to using stihl saws or just not familiar with the new husky switches would always try to force the switch down to try and switch it on. This results in the plastic catch that spud mentioned being moved slightly and needing a slight re-adjustment.
