  1. I did think twice about posting a link to them as I knew there was a supplier on here (Rob). I always try to support local suppliers and happily pay a few quid extra for things. Being on a limited budget does mean that sometimes the difference between having and not having means going cheap (as in this case). If they break up in a few months time you can all throw rotten tomatoes at me and say "told ya so"!
  2. I think they are the right money for what they are, a few bits of metal bolted together to make up a frame! I haven't seen a "genuine" one, but struggle to see how they are worth so much more and is the reason I never bought one before.
  3. Thanks guys. I will find a little barn space to split and stack a few loads. Some of it is large, so will be milling it as well.
  4. Is sitka spruce any good for firewood? Never tried selling softwood logs, do they need longer to season to allow the resins to come out? It is all free to me with good access, seems a shame to leave it to rot.
  5. I have one of these and a 12000lb winch. Portable Mobile Winch Mount Bracket Plate suits 8 - 13000lb winch WITH ADAPTOR | eBay If you have a multi-hole drop plate on your tow bar, you can leave the receiver part on there as well as your tow ball. You could also make a mount for the front to accept it. I just use a set of heavy duty jump leads to power it, suits me for a bit of log/tree pulling.
  6. Nine pages of feedback and you STILL haven't decided whether to spend 6 quid or not Your decision section of your brain must be well backed up:001_tt2:
  7. Thanks for that Rob. Will see if I can get a picture up, prefer nuts and bolts than techno-trickery I have offered up a stihl bar to the maki side cover and the adjuster peg fits the hole in the bar fine. The husky must use a larger peg. Thanks for your help, Jim.
  8. Oh well, looks like I will have to make my own
  9. Looks like a nice bit of kit and if it works for you that's great. I really enjoy filing freehand, fiddle like.
  10. Thanks, but I would prefer the ones in the latest video [ame] [/ame]

    Dolmar

Does the bigger cover and filter cost much? I bought the saw to do some light milling with. So with the extra fine dust that produces, it may be worth doing at some point.
  12. Feel like I'm talking to myself but are these listed on your site anywhere Rob?

    Dolmar

What's the benefit of the HD filter and is there any advantage in fitting a non cat exhaust to these saws, if that's even possible?
  14. Used it today with no problems. Only cut eleven 7' spruce boards, but nothing came loose or fell off and I can't see why I won't get good long term service from it.
  15. Is Rob away at the moment, anyone know?
  16. Hi Rob. Just seen your latest vid on bar spacers. Do the ones' that fit on the huskys' also fit on the dolmar/maki range of saws? I'm wanting to run a stihl 25" bar on my maki 7900. Thanks for any help.
  17. Will try to find time at the weekend to use it. They do seem well built and sturdy. I was expecting it to have that "budget" feel about it, but it hasn't. It all goes together accurately and the depth gauge measuring marks are pretty spot on. The company seem good to deal with and when you think that they mainly make ramps for wheelchair users, they can't afford to use low grade materials.
  18. Does the FREEPOSTAGE code still work when just ordering the spacers Rob?
  19. Can I run stihl bars on the makita if I install those little rings from Robd? 25" stihl bars seem to be cheaper than oregon and I have always liked stihl bars.
  20. I'm after a 24" bar and chain for my 7900 maki, anyone know anywhere cheaper than chainsdirect? Come to that, has anyone got a usable 009 mount 24" bar knocking about looking for a new home?
  21. Are there any cast metal parts on the real thing?
  22. Just using a metal rule, they are a smidge over 2mm. Not put it together yet, will do that tomorrow. Doesn't appear cheap and nasty on first impressions.
  23. I was hoping to be able to use the 18" bar on the new makita, but if the minimum is 20" it looks like more expenditure
  24. With all the business I have put their way from you lot, I think I should ask for a discount
