  1. Thanks for that, I will give it a go.
  2. Very nice, like it. What finish have you used? I have slabbed up a dead elm and am going to make a coffee table and like the look of your finish.
  3. Why not reject the delivery? If it is not as stated, don't pay, turn it away on the spot. No one learns if you except it.

The saw is brand new, so a little worried in sending you the standard in case it needs to go back on to preserve the warranty. How much are the standard ones and in your opinion does it make a big difference? Is there a standard zorst for the 7900/price?

Is there a non cat exhaust that will go on the ea5000 and is there really much benefit in going that route? The videos I have seen of the ea5000/5105 seem lke they have plenty of go in them as standard.
  7. These are little rippers and I'm 99% sure your small mount husky bars will fit https://www.radmoretucker.co.uk/product/Makita-EA4300F45C-Petrol-Chainsaw-18
  8. You left home without your tractor??
  9. I found that if someone used to using stihl saws or just not familiar with the new husky switches would always try to force the switch down to try and switch it on. This results in the plastic catch that spud mentioned being moved slightly and needing a slight re-adjustment.
  10. Those logs are a bit smokey, you sure they are below 25% mc Had a KK for years, must dig it out and start using it.

Is there any difference between the makita ea5000 and the dolly 5105 other than colour? They look the same on paper.
  13. Don't think I will use these again and will keep the second chain that came as an emergency back up only. I have found they run the bar hotter and are wearing the rails down by the nose sprocket at quite a rate. I now need a new rim sprocket because the chain has really eaten into it. The bar was new and the sprocket only had light marks on it when I installed the chain. At just over half worn there are bits breaking off from the drive links and depth gauges. Shame, because the cutters do seem to hold sharp longer than other chains, but they do seem to be made from a harder metal which I think is brittle. Just my opinion and observations, back to oregon for me.
  14. It will really only be on the planer as I have a decent stihl workshop vac whick I tend to use on the bandsaw etc. Can't stretch to £350 for a unit. Have to keep my eyes open for a better secondhand unit.
  15. Testament to how strong that roof rack is, what make is it?
  16. Am thinking of getting an extractor like this Axminster Hobby Series AWDE5002 Extractor | eBay it will hook up to my planer, bandsaw and table saw etc for light diy use. Does anyone use a similar size unit and find it up to the job? Don't have room for anything bigger really.
  17. Hhmm, not sure when a comparison to a 660 came into the conversation:confused1:, think it was more a comparison to a standard 550 running a .325 chain.
  18. These look like the blades that come fitted to petrol powered saw benches. I have a 28" blade on mine and I find that because the blade is quite thin, they do shimmy a bit. I thought it was a faulty blade at first and had the seller send me out another blade, but that is the same so just accept that is how they are.
  19. Must have changed the design then since the first ones, mine is a 2012 550 and the 3/8 sprocket went straight on. Run oregon bars and full chisel.
  20. Both. I changed my 357xp to 3/8 as well, transforms it in my eyes. You will need to get a sprocket for a 560/562 as they don't list one for a 550, fits straight on with no other parts to alter (bar and chain obviously).
  21. Have run 3/8 on mine for the last 4 odd years, normally on an 18" bar. Runs it fine and anyone that has used it says what a ripper it is. Chain speed is increased as the sprocket size is larger.
  22. That will be a mk1 trooper. If in good clean solid condition you might be surprised how much it would make on ebay. They were prone to rusting out chassis wise. Sounds like a good buy.
  23. PM me too please Si.
  24. Did you get the parts from the place in your link Humpty? I am after similar parts for a jonsered 2036.
  25. Are you still on the look out for help SWP?
