Yep same here with the screws, then to buy a new pack was a fiver for ten but I only wanted one! I was mid climb when the left hand side of my lid was sliding down my face... Not an issue I can abide or should have to worry about.. Chains stretch, I expect to have to tighten them. I don't expect an essential part of my safety kit to fall apart due to poor design.

I wouldn't think so, it's a soft wood so can imagine when it's dry it will burn very quickly. But at the same time any wood is good to burn really. I know a guy who heats his small home solely from his fireplace and he will burn anything he can get his hands on.

Get a solid anchor, other than that just another day in the office mate

But you don't get that much in a cup when you buy a regular.. It's a void test because there wasn't a 'regular' serving to compare it to. To really test it you'd need to measure in millimetres how much you get in a regular and how much you get in a large. I could probably fit a 'grab' bag of Walkers crisps into a regular pack if I tried hard enough.

Just googled an image of the kaaz mower... Is it a rip off of the lawnflite or are they the same thing? And just to add, the lawnflite mowers are like tanks. Weighty but stand up to a lot of abuse.

I do get the OP's stance on this, but this is an Internet forum. We come here to get away from the mrs, to learn something,, to have a laugh or whatever. We're only brought here by the fact we have a common interest; chainsaws and trees. All work and no play would make for an uptight forum. Maybe not, but I feel there are perhaps more rascals in this industry who proclaim to be able to prune a tree and charge full whack for it. In fact anyone with a ladder and a bow saw could attempt to dismantle one (a small one maybe!) Put me in front of some pipes and a sink and I may as well be trying to build the international space station. Point being, I'd say there are more chancers in our industry than in the plumbing or electrical world. Training to be a good plumber or electrician may take years; for this you pay a premium. I done my 30/31/38/39 in 2 weeks. Has what happened on this job reinforced this belief? It doesn't matter and I think this is probably the second time it's ever happened, and I've cocked up far more! I'm sure I will continue to get work from my neighbours but just wondered whether this type of scenario could have negative repercussions.

Totally agree. Though I am now wondering/worrying if it has damaged my reputation, especially amongst the neighbours whom I do a hell of a lot of work for.

On Saturday I had 1 job to do and didn't really know how long it was going to take. It was 2 - 3 hawthorns mashed together by ivy to bring down by around 30% retaining the ivy as it acts as a screen from the houses behind. It looked like a nasty job and no matter how hard I tried it wasn't going to look pretty. But it wasn't a case of style over substance, she was worried they were getting big. I digress. She accepted the quote of £330 and I booked her in. We had the kit in the back garden by 8am and it was back on the van by 10.30!! I smashed it in 2.5 hours but was left feeling rather bad when she handed over the cash. After paying my oppo and dump charge I walked away with about £250 for 2 hours work. Great, but it left a bitter taste as she's a bloody neighbour!! Her house is spitting distance from mine! Don't get me wrong, that's the value I felt the job was and obviously so did she. It also makes up for the cock ups I've made on some quotes!!

And if you add more to the quote to cover the finders fee, you may end up pricing yourself out of the market.

I offer my services to garden companies as a climber. Let them take on the job, deal with all the crap I don't want to, take my day rate and go home Sometimes it's been less than ideal in the sense that some are numptys, but on the whole it's ok. Send out a few emails explaining your quals and your day rate. You might be surprised at the response. If they feel they can diversify to earn a bit more money they might just bite. And 20%? What if it's a £1000 quote? You're gonna hand over £200? Sod that!!!

16mm Marlow 3 strand lowering rope per metre This stuffs pretty good Will. It's cheap and effective. I've got this and used it a lot until I bought some English braid. Cheap, effective and versatile. Think the max load is quite good as well.

Haha! Look mate, in my experience they come down to what you know. I know my way a round a stihl machine therefore 80% of my saws are stihl. Go with what you like/prefer. Neither are going to let you down anymore than the other. They're both top of their game and market leaders. You won't go wrong with either.

Utter rubbish. The new 201 is not gutless. You prefer the husqvarna and that's fine. I have both and alternate the saws. The husqvarna is the one I reach for but the 201tc is still a great machine.
