  1. Mon dieu!!! just looked at R&T, can get new for a little over that with warranty
  2. Nice looking one on the bay in cambridge, BIN £500
  3. Missus says its on facebook, dumfries and galloway police bit
  4. Aye, the police have been told, the junior stockman got stopped by the police on his way here this morn in an identical landrover. So they are on the ball.
  5. Our farm contractor had his landrover stolen from yard between 3am and 7am night afor last. And another farm up road had 2 quad bikes stolen last night.
  6. I dont lend anything out, learnt the hard way over the years. When working on a stud farm down south, ride on mower broke, said my socket set was in the lock up and he could use it, went up half hour later to find he had gone off cutting grass and where was my snap on socket set, scattered across the yard, not impressed. And definetly would not lend out any of my chainsaws, old maybe, but there my pride and joy. Get their own.
  7. If you go onto ebay and type in sip wood lathe, someone is selling one like yours, mouse over pic and you will see the part you want on the head stock where your faceplate is. You may be able to get one from sip. Or on another listing is a sip chuck for £70 inc postage and get a steb centre and you will be able to do spindle work. But if you take up steves offer he can explain it better to you.
  8. Yep, your gonna have to see it somehow, right up your street. And why do they put credits so small and fast that you cant read em, dam. Hansel and Gretel witch hunters. The missus seems to think ch5 have their own version of i player thingy. Rumpy-pumpy before or after cabbage broth:biggrin:
  9. Well its got Jeremy Renner as hansel and Gemma Arterton as gretel, hunting and killing witches and some horny lookig woman as the witch, who i have got to wait till the credits to see who she is. Dressed in leather, fantasy figures, trolls, blood and gore etc all running and flying around in a large forest.
  10. Stick with the faceplate, but you will only be able to do bowls, unless you can get a cheap chuck and adaptor from ebay. I bought a supernova 2 chuck, adaptor and stub centre, not cheap, twice the price of the lathe.
  11. Aye! If your desperate for some chisels i think i spotted the cheapy 3 that came wth mine in the draw you can have. Must say i am watching hansel and gretel on ch 5 at mo and images of TVI keep coming into my mind:lol: Got to wait for the credits to see who the horny looking witch is:biggrin: You may find you will have to put some pressure on the drive belt when tightening the bolt. I took the faceplate into agri shop and got them size the thread so i knew what it was. They do tend to vary from models. And you should have a spindle head which screws on in place of the face plate so that you can do spindle work.
  12. Probably not a moving song to most, Everyday by Slade, apparently i texted the entire lyrics to the missus just after first date.
  13. or more sinister:biggrin:
  14. Hey! TVI watching hansel and gretel on ch5, is it a bit like that in your world:001_smile:
  15. I should imagine there are hundreds of turners who have had similar as a starter lathe. I still have my workzone one in the garage. Once i had worked out what thread it was (3/4 x 16) i bought an adaptor and a chuck for it, me and the missus turned quite a lot of bowls etc on it before upgrading to a better lathe.
  16. Put em part way through the harvester head, legs first
  17. The missus goes to burghley horse trials every year, says there is some really nice trees there. When we were at kings walden, we had a row of sweet chestnuts across the deer park, reputed to have been planted to celebrate the battle of waterloo. We had some tree society come to measure the oak trees a couple of times. The eldest was dated back to 1066 if memory serves me right.
  18. should fit engelberts. Try punch hole top l/r hand corner and use one of them split ring thingys off a keyring to keep them together. Put me down for one. Colour would be a nice touch:001_smile: It could be called Steves felling cut aide memoir. Part no 001
  19. Had a look at one last sunday, thought the keypad was a bit small. Otherwise would have bought one.
  20. I have a echo 280 and a 360 for carving only, both brill
  21. Has anyone thought of using flexi type plastic land drain pipe on the end of their chipper heads to direct chippings, just a mad idea of mine, i dont have a chipper to try it out on.
  22. Nothing will deter a vixen feeding hungry cubs. And its getting to that time of year. We lost all bar four last year and that was at midday. She was facing up to the very large cockeral until a .22 put paid to her little game.
  23. Gamekeepers of old used to pee regularly into a jam jar and hang it from a post near their pheasants. I just used to pee as i went round the pen each time:001_smile:
  24. Bought a solar panel to attach to a dry cell battery unit for the horse fence and around a partridge pen a few years ago, and think i may have tried it on a 12v wet cell, was not overly convinced that it lengthened the battery life. Wouldnt rely on it. They may have improved them. I would invest in a good unit, caravan battery and a tester that hangs on the fence to show battery life. I used to switch the unit off during the day around the pheasant pens. Also, and i cant remember where i got it from, a battery operated ultra sonic cat deterrant thingy, which i switched on at night.
  25. I think its marine blue. Try google. Or your local garage/motor factor/halfords should have access to colour charts. You should have a VIN plate under the bonnet and it will have year etc, and colour code
