  1. Not sure I am up to date, maybe not as I am getting old, but shouldn't this occur in the warmer months? More a question than an answer! Pollarding in general though assuming this is a repeat process then yes above not below. PS every day is a school day
  2. Yep I would say start with a domestic company with a good rep and then learn the various skill sets over a few years. Develop over time.
  3. Has anyone actually ever done this, returned i.e. tipped green waste for unpaid work? I wonder about the legalities?
  4. The answer is there's no answer, absolutely every job is different.
  5. Refusing shit jobs (when in a position to be able to do so is great! I don't like to refuse jobs but when I do I am happy.
  6. Yes at times. Though it's really important that the guys in the tree work well together. Their height levels are similar and that there's a good guy on the ground (ideally overseeing the guys in the trees safety and general positions in relation to each other). Just my opinion, not and everyday thing but certainly fairly often this happens.
  7. Testing an anchor should occur at every change over, simple as that. Its not just the anchor you are testing its also that you have clipped into the gear correctly etc. Everyone makes mistakes. Also the test should occur whilst you are clipped in to the old anchor point. Sadly people get slack, it takes a second, this second could save your life etc.
  8. You are not in the driving seat as you say, you an employee/subcontractor. Not sure how long you have been subcontracting yourself out but knowing your own value/worth is one of the most important factors to setting your daily rate. I would suggest allowing others to set your rate if you have plenty of experience is the wrong thing to do.
  9. Its under R.I.P.A I believe. It's the law so a complete minefield. So legally you can do some things that's most consider strange and socially awkward! For example record video footage in a public space etc of the public etc.
  10. Well I am pretty sure unless UK law has changed that pictures cannot be taken on private property (without the landowner/property owners consent) Was this picture was taken from outside the property boundary looking into the property which you are in? If the answer is no to my question and it was therefore taken from within the property perhaps you could contact the customer directly and ask them to request this picture not to be published? Just a thought
  11. Not a royalist at all, but am a son who's actually has a mother (currently in hospital) whom will be not around much longer. Its basic think before making idiotic posts, you know who you are as we all do.
  12. Also I would not invest anything major incase if successful because if suddenly the customer changes their mind you will be out of pocket ! If you can afford it and you are going to do it anyway then yes. Or perhaps a non refundable customer deposit? Build up slowly kit wise and when bigger jobs come along you will be ready. Sometimes it's good to say no.
  13. All change apparently the works can now go ahead!
  14. In my opinion both the publisher and author are equally irrelevant as each other, zero time for either. Standards in life and in any profession start and end with the individual. When the day gets tough, long and when he/she/they get tired does everything go out of the window or do standards remain the same? Whilst I am one for accreditation, PC predictable responses are simply base and as I mentioned, predictable and annoying. Ps Happy Friday and Usyk to win in 10 rounds!
  15. Swing can't be moved seriously!! Have you consider adoption, problem solved and money saved?
  16. Hi All, Yes I agree inform and not request. Been doing this for many years now, never had an issue (other than me not filling out the forms with enough detail at time which caused delays). Speaking to the planning department next week. Basically though I filed an online application as per normal, Maps photos detailed description, reasons why etc. Will see what's happens.
  17. As above we have had an application rejected in a conservation area. What next!
  18. UK Power networks will need to cut the power however notice for the home owners is required. Speak to them its pretty straight forward, have done this a number of times.
  19. John Lewis card is better than you will get plenty of vouchers!
