  1. No ones moving a ton about on a cheap compact tractor either. Be better off with a saw and wheelbarrow! If budget tight as said originally and you want something to lift and move heavy things as said originally a telehandler is the best bet I’d say.
  2. You’ll get a lot of telehandler compared to Tractor for the money, a lot less to go wrong and cheaper to run/own if you get the right one and should be fairly bombproof. But as said already you’ll be probably looking at 5-7 t plus whatever load you’ve got on.
  3. Looking for a load to ease costs on a trip I’m doing Friday, basically near Newcastle up to north of Dundee. I’ll have the 3.5t plant trailer on but won’t need anywhere near it’s capacity size or weight wise. So if you need something moved on route let me know cheers

  4. Awesome!
  5. Forgive me if someone else has already said it but do a trade with a cattle farmer who can use the chip to bed cattle and start the process of composting and add ended nitrogen for you. Straw prices are high so should be an easy trade to get them to move it and deliver the muck back if local enough
  6. Wire a switch up to the stop solenoid would be simple enough, but not sure how you’d route the cable easily.
  7. Wise words that should be told to all young men! Always a tough lesson that one ?
  8. Kids are grown pretty much so cash in an envelope, wife wanted some hazel fence panels..easily done and I’ve asked for a new mig welder when I’ve created some space in the workshop and got time to go buy one. i do miss the kids ripping wrapping paper off mega excited one minute, crying and fighting the next! Always made it a fantastic day. Obvs everyone gets a chocolate orange and new socks and pants!
  9. Makes you laugh all the mad shit dogs do ??? my terrier does things like this all the time and just makes you laugh lots and love him more! But weirdly I wouldn’t let the labs or collie get away with it, they must hate him.
  10. When not entertaining sheep ?
  11. What makes this forum so ace (most of the time) Good people!
  12. Cheers for the comprehensive list...Certainly sounds well thought out and lots of plus points over my woodland. Definitely like the chain adjustment. Although the cable looks consistent it doesn’t feel very precise and would imagine it’ll be worse in years of use. Was it much dearer? What bed length you going for? Would love to see it in the flesh, hopefully I’ll get to see it when I come up to get the stove ?
  13. What made you go for the Logosol in the end Andy?
  14. Spot on Mick, and when they come in you know others went higher too! Weirdly the ones you don’t want and price accordingly nearly always come in. Sometimes though I think people actively choose the higher quotes. It’s never a rip off if you quote, meet the spec you agreed to and bill the price you quoted in the timeframe you said you would. (If something has been really quick maybe because the customer has prepared well for example, I may offer to do something else with a machine whilst I’m there) Otherwise people would be going back on deals constantly, I’ve never had someone say ‘oh I only think it’s worth x’ after I’ve done a job and don’t give any indication that I might haggle, it’s a business not a tourist stall at the Turkish grand bizarre!
  15. Cheapest to own/run or cheapest to buy?
  16. Looks good Andy, are you going for a Norwood?
  17. Same as me then, definitely easy to deal with.
  18. Just put some cameras up outside and inside the workshop. If you hand over proper evidence the police and cps will actually be able to do something. Insurance will pay out if you’ve got cover. Saves anyone getting hurt and gets the scum put away.

Awesome, looks properly built. Love seeing stuff built to last!
  20. You can use it definitely. I used a structural engineer to get through building regs on ungraded timber, he’ll do a visual inspection on a good sample of the timbers to sign off. He’s local so could pass his details on if you like but he may be too pricey if it’s just a few choice timbers your builder wants to use for the aesthetic value.
  21. They pointed me to the any trailer, trailed implement or otherwise attached implement or machinery used in association with my business in the policy wording.
  22. @agrimog who are you insured with if you don’t mind me asking? Did they ask to see any paperwork for the mill? Be interested to hear what all the other mobile millers are doing.
  23. Thanks again for all the info, sound like I need to email vosa, dvsa, dvla?? To try to get an answer. Rang the Nfu who already insure the mill, my farm, my vehicles and my businesses. Told them what I wanted to do and they’re happy to insure it without any type approval and can’t see why I’d need it but I’d prefer to get something in writing from government as to what I need to do about this.
  24. What’s the IVA test and c&u regs please? Any chance you could post a link up to the regs.
