  1. Doesn’t that mean you’ve paid interest on five grand you never really borrowed?
  2. As previously said I was told I’d need it over 25k, first phone call just to enquire about terms/price.
  3. It’s what I was told I’d need to send in by arblease when looking at a new multione, didn’t take it any further as bought a second hand one. But over £25k plus vat they needed accounts.
  4. Couple of years accounts showing affordability too I’d imagine
  5. If it’s a big rise or fall it’ll be another strainer or just knock a post and staple in to run the wire if it’s not big doesn’t make a difference to line
  6. I do bottom wire in strained, chalk the depth on each post as you pace them out and stab in, chain hanging off the headstock as guide for plumb if I’m on my own, easier if someone else is with you doing that and double checking with a level. I use mine on digger and tractor and think digger is quicker alone or two man.
  7. Definitely second the zero tail being less stable, my knocker is very dubious on new zero tail compared to old conventional machine despite weight chart looking almost identical. Knockers about 300kg though so big for machine too.
  8. At some point they’ll need doing anyway so if you’re planning on keeping it, it’s reasonable to do it. Or stick a replacement engine in but you may have the same faults or worse. Plenty of them about. I love mine so much when I get problems I’ll hopefully put a new/remanufactured engine in if I can find one under £4K. When the body/chassis goes I’ll swap the engine into the next one I buy. I’ve also got a v8 3.6 TD but when anything expensive goes on this I’ll cry, sell it for what I can get and take a massive hit! Turbos are about £3k, engines about £6k.
  9. The risk of going to prison if something goes horribly wrong puts me off towing illegally, it’s just not worth the risk especially if it’s something that looks like a regular thing.
  10. Excavator and/or timber trailer I’m sure would be safe places to put the money and get use on your jobs without masses of depreciation, definitely safer than a disco ?
  11. Could you just buy an older vehicle with less tax implications and pay off your Valtra finance if you need spend some cash. Maybe most efficient way of doing it?
  12. Could be vanos, tensioner or guides...could be low oil pressure possibly due to seals even. It is the v8 petrol isn’t it? Vanos and chains etc kit aren’t dear imo but I wouldn’t want to do it myself as imagine timing tools will be rr only and dear as hell. But if the kits £4-500 and a good mechanic can do it in a day £1000 would be a good investment if the cars clean otherwise and doesn’t stand you at anything. Or break it and I’ll have the amp and radio modules off you ?
  13. +1 for ifor. Most of the dealers seem not to care but there are good ones around so don’t just go local. Easy for bits, easy to resell and loose very little money, easy to use everyday. Check it’ll work with leds on your motor first, some don’t or need relays fitting.
  14. Really useful info that, thanks for taking the time to post.
  15. Doesn’t look like a scam. Same phone numbers on the machine, price looks on the heavy side to me, can’t see why it wouldn’t be genuine.
  16. We started proper mob grazing cattle about 7 years ago and have seen a huge improvement in grass species diversity and quantity. When we first bought the farm 12 years ago it had been undergrazed with just 12 ewes and was mainly rushes and poor grasses on heavy clay. We introduced cattle, pigs, more sheep and poultry into a rotational grazing system over time and the same area now supports 44 ewes and 10 cows and all the following stock. I’d say we’ve improved soil carbon but the tests are expensive so we’ve never measured. Anecdotally we’ve got more, diverse grass, better drainage and healthier stock on it
  17. I do think if you’re towing plenty the cost of fuel doesn’t really come into it. Running the kids to school fair enough it’ll be expensive but for work they do just work. Cheap as chips for bits and because they’re not so highly strung there isn’t much going to wrong with the engine. A good buy I reckon!
  18. Which flail did you go for Stephen? Let us know how you get on with it. Looked at the cheap ones bucket warehouse are doing but imagine they’ll die quite quickly at that price compared to the ‘proper’ ones. But not being able to see/try any makes it difficult to know.
  19. Driven my defenders the same as all my other vehicles, had brand new and old. Always been shit at most things. Great fun though and wouldn’t want to be without one, just not as a work/drive everyday truck. Fancy building one up from galv chassis with top spec parts but will have to wait for lottery win and retirement for that. Current defender done about 1000 miles in 3 years and cost me about £2000 and days of working on it, there’s Lamborghinis cheaper to run than £2/mile ?
  20. Got two rangies yet it’s always this in the workshop!
  21. I may sound like a stuck record here but Range Rover petrol v8 every time for me, beats anything I’ve had for towing/off road etc on comfort, ease, parts, real cost of ownership. Beats 90,110, navara, hi lux and Isuzu’s I’ve had hands down.
  22. You’d really want a digger with two sets of auxiliary lines if your hiring in as can’t see you messing about with pipework if you want something that’ll rotate as well as grab/cut. Think approved hire them for about £300-400/week depending. I’m after a shear myself for the odd job but couldn’t stomach £4000 to have lying round the yard most the time when I’ve got a grab anyway. Shame there’s no Arbtalk machinery ring! Shear and a stump grinder head would be handy but luxury really for the odd thing here and there.
  23. Impressed they’ve got the power to dig out, what depth are you digging down? 250mm?
  24. That’s a hell of a week Conor! It’s shite when it all comes at once. Handy having a pit pit for working on the mog I bet, wouldn’t fancy getting that on a two post lift.
  25. Not sure about defender but my Range Rover constantly pings the tail lights on and off as part of the test cycle with less on trailers so I stuck with old style bulbs on new trailer lately.
