  1. Waiting for approved and fliwfit to come with prices, but want it sorted so I’ve just put into the shop anyway. Two may be useful!
  2. Private sale, contacted but he’s saying it was ok when it left so no comeback
  3. Whipped the motor off, no need to run it up. Looks like oil seal onto output shaft blown. Just looks like sealant though rather than a seal. Also looks like someone’s been in with a chisel, which is never a good sign. Bit of a shock for something that’s had little use and is only two years old. A day messing about, time lost on machine and probably couple of hundred quid to get it rebuilt I imagine. In real terms probably already cost more than the new equivalent, sometimes you just can’t win ?
  4. I like idea and try to be like that but I always seem to be more of a ‘tie it up with string for now’ guy at home. Always best value doing in right in the long term.
  5. Nice work ratty, looks built for life that.
  6. Yes but it’s not true, by spreading these lies your pushing more people to believe this. If I went on a farming forum and said all forestry contractors got grant funding at 40% for machinery I think farmers would look at them in a different light and possibly deal with them in a different way. We all have a responsibility to stick to facts in this day and age where so much ‘alt fact’ stuff is in the media.
  7. Farmers aren’t paid not to farm, the opposite is true. In order to claim any subsidy the farm must be in agriculture order. This is a fact.
  8. I can’t be arsed to back through all the posts but I’m sure you’ve said in this exact thread that you’ll go for grant funding. You want to take on a small plot of land. This will subsidise your distortion of the good life. I don't know you from adam and a lot of the stuff you put up on here is very useful and I admire what you’re doing work wise but on this subject you are being a total hypocrite.
  9. Ha, now that’s my life Kev!
  10. Those are cracking bob, if was spending 4-6 grand that would be the way to go and get a nice truck in at that price rather than chopping a 30 grand motor up to put it on. Theres a nice low mileage 62 plate hi lux (ex waterboard I think) on internet at 6k with an already bashed up tub...be the perfect donor.
  11. Permitted development rights for ag used to be 4800sq ft per two year period, not sure if that’s accurate today. It still goes to the council to make sure it’s not within 400m of a dwelling other than the farmhouse, you have say where drains discharge, etc and that is total development so might be a shed half that size then the associated hard standing around or access to. I've put little sheds and hard standing in that way in the past. Sometimes it goes through and is quicker as basically they have to object or ask any questions within 28 days other times I’ve had to go full planning ap..more time, money and expense for same result in the end but at least everyone gets a say in it.
  12. Thought he sounded sharp on the radio last week! ??
  13. It’s probably not what he’ll get on his headstone but he was a proper gadgy, hard as fuck. sharp as a tack right to the end by the sound of it
  14. It could provide the same for less but unfortunately the big retailers absolutely control the market and would swallow any money saved and so it won’t happen. Big business is just as unhelpful as big government.
  15. Joking aside though it’s easier than ever to buy food direct from producers. Most people don’t bother. We try to have open days often. Had one a few weeks ago and we put the figures of subs the biggest claimants get and then what we get. We also make sure people understand this is only how the food they buy of us is produced, if they buy cheap chickens from Tesco go and have a look at a 25,000 bird broiler house not a few chickens scratching round the grass.
  16. When someone turns up in my yard I try and sell them something...that just turns the tables if there driving a transit ?
  17. You genuinely think the farmer would get 80% and the retailer 20? The subsidy at the minute just makes the material into the supply chain cheaper. The retailers sell for the maximum prices they can get. The price wouldn’t change. The tax payer would benefit from less cost in, but the retailers wouldn’t be dropping there prices. Producers get shit on because most folk don’t care where or who produces there food. If they did and built a relationship with farmers they’d both have a much better deal.
  18. Exactly this, obviously everyone would have to buy food direct from farmers and there’s not many avocado farmers in the uk so most of the vegan wankers would still be shipping them in from Peru where some shithead drug cartel own the plantations and take all the villages water but it is possible to get by without government intervention if the consumer supported it.
  19. I get single farm payment and thought it might be handy to have s few facts here. For that I, like every other claimant has to obey the rules on animal management such as welfare, movement registrations, animal identification, keeping the farm in agricultural order, for arable crops there may be regulation on rotations that can be planted, we have to keep plenty of records and be available to be inspected every now and again by RLR, RPA, trading standards, animal health teams, etc.... but single farm payment is made related to nothing other than size of entitlements. The rate per entitlement is set for all. The entitlement you have is based on what was previously paid. No headage, no set aside etc anymore. You can buy and sell entitlements separately from the farm. Some farmers have no entitlements and do without sfp or some rent entitlement for a percentage of the sfp. Some entitlement owners don’t farm and need some land to partner there claim with in order to get paid. The system is very poor value for money to the tax payer and the sooner we get rid of them the better it will be for everyone other than the farmers who’ve relied on them for decades. Farmers who can’t farm without sub will move on. New entrants and those farming without needing sub will carry on and pick up the vacant land. Land prices, rents and machinery will all fall and become more affordable but I genuinely think food prices would only rise a small percentage. This would be the retailers and pack houses adding a bit of extra margin for themselves and blaming it on the subsidy for farming being taken away.
  20. I think you may be right, the bolt just holds the motor through the tinwork into the backplate that houses the bearing/rotor mounting and I can’t see why the hydraulic fluid would be coming out of that. Was hoping it was something simple that I was missing. It has a heavy guard on the motor and was sold it in good condition. Can’t see the thing taking a knock that would get past the guard during pallet transport. its looking like it would have been cheaper buying new, but I’m short of time and didn’t want the hassle hence buying one set up ready to go!
  21. It’s seeping from this with no pressure, hammers out when you fire up the digger. Tried nipping it up but it’s already tight as hell. Can’t really see what it does, the body of the motor isn’t going to it, it just looks like it goes into the back plate but it’s obviously getting fluid from somewhere. any ideas appreciated!
  22. Can’t see anything obvious. Guess I’ll have to take it to bits in the morning and have a closer look at unions
  23. Not sure?? Flails spins in right direction so assume so
