  1. I got the waste license as its better to be safe and all that, I phoned council when I first started and they told me that I should be taking all a risings from people's property and not using green bins as if I have created the waste its commercial and not allowed in the green bin as that is for domestic waste only!
  2. I think property depends on how much you buy for in the first place. If it a £30k house then rent is going to be cheap and the tenants may not be brilliant, if you have a place to rent for £1000 per month then you should in theory have less problems( doctors on 2 year contracts etc) but it's always going to be a risk. If you don't want risk risk leave it in a current/savings account losing money(inflation wise) Or better still buy something nice with it!!
  3. How does it last all day? Is that just spot spraying? How good is it over bigger areas? Sounds too good to be true, I don't doubt you its just surprising.
  4. Charge by the job, you will struggle to get away from it if you do charge by the houe and as others have said there is no incentive to work hard. Never use their kit bad move!
  5. The last thing I would want as a homeowner is someone knocking on my door asking to take down a tree. It would make me think of "traveling" people just doing a bit of tarmacing in the area who happen to have a bit left!" Put a card through yes but knocking on the door is a big no no for me. If people want work doing they are capable of looking online /yellow pages etc and getting quotes.(and the people who aren't are probably vulnerable and should be left alone imo. A bit rogue trader ish if you ask me.
  6. I don't see how anyone can justify doing it when it's frozen. There is always other work that could be done in a garden. And if there isn't any in that garden there should be somewhere else. And you are not helping yourself by doing it as it will ruin it and probably lose you the customer. You need to be charging enough through spring summer and autumn to set enough aside for the winter. Just my opinion.
  7. Thanks for that you learn something new everyday as they say
  8. http://www.haheley.co.uk Being really thick here but what is crown cleaning? Like the site by the way👍
  9. Don't think so but may be wrong. Why would it help you if you've got to be in there anyway?
  10. Just say it will be done in "a day" or 2 days whichever fits the job
  11. I think that if you want to be a h and s person then you should at least have formal training and at least 5 years working experience in whatever field you want to judge on. I don't see how a one size fits all approach can work without the consultant just p******* people off.
  12. I just thought I try it as that is how I would look for it here in lincoln if I did not know where to buy from cheers Richard If i wanted a strimmer I would use the same search though on the assumption that if you sell mowers you sell strimmers .
  13. I see what you mean because that then goes back to cost, when I wrote that I was thinking about energy output per kilo or m3 or something along those lines. Maybe how much useable energy per unit. That sounds daft even as I'm writing it:blushing:
  14. I just tried lawn mower repair sidmouth And lawn mower sales sidmouth And you came out as 1st not paid for result(ie not in googles top bit) If that helps cheers Richard
  15. What's the cost of 1 of these? I'm having a new pick up in May/June and it looks interesting
  16. Can you not just put it out there anyway to start as a comparison tool and then see what traffic you get and then go back to the suppliers, maybe not as a price comparison but as a quality comparison?
  17. I'm trying to do more work for less customers this year. More time on fewer sites, less traveling so hopefully less stress
  18. It took me too long to realise that 10 good customers are better than 30 bad ones(just a percentage rather than actual numbers if you know what I mean) And anyway a £1 a metre is not bad money in itself imo
  19. Probably would chew it up just a thought Another thought could you not process in situ then at least you're not having to lift huge great lumps 3 times?
  20. If it's for a good customer then do it for best price you can, if you're getting a nice maintenance contract for it after it would be good to know it's been done right (ie by you) as then the maintenance will be easier:thumbup:
  21. Can you pull it out on chains with the truck
  22. Snowing here in lincoln well a bit anyway!
  23. How wide are the straight runs?
  24. Oh that would be far too much for him he could/does use some chip but nowhere near that amount. But I'll give him a ring later and see what he knows out there for dropping chip off, you never know might know the right person
