  1. Just like to say Stefan that I think the majority here admire your work ethic and what you have done so far but have concerns for your well being and relationship with your partner. Some of the posts are harsh, some tongue in cheek but if you look deeper they all have a message. I can see you are a good guy as I'm sure your lady can, growing a business from scratch is hard work, but spend a little more quality time with her if you can.
  2. Disconnect one or both I can't see any difference. However assuming a piece of electronics has its own ground then that theoretically could cause you grief. Might be a risk of damage unplugging anyway so either way it's a chance you take. Welding earth as near to the weld as possible is the best advice I can give you.
  3. Certainly safest to disconnect the earth ( -ve) terminal. If you can unplug any electronics easily then even safer as there might be some voltage induced across their ground connection and outputs/ sensors etc. Being a welder I'm sure you know to keep the welder earth as close as possible to your work. This also helps of course.
  4. Her new boyfriend might have dropped her home. If that's was the case would you really be surprised Stefan?
  5. She might already be thinking about an upgrade.
  6. I'm certain you did the wrong thing Stefan. We all know you work very hard at your business but you need to work on your personal relationships too.
  7. Use the spare otherwise it will be too old to use.
  8. Suction control valve is a common fault on transits.
  9. Get the fault codes read and go from there. No point guessing as it could be many things.
  10. Plenty of wasps around here if anyone wants any. I had to move a nest that was in the way of a stone wall we were building a few days ago. My lad split a large log today and there was a large nest of wood wasps in the centre, walked out the gate just after and was harassed by several wasps that had made their home in the stone wall. Wood wasps I can put up with even though they have chewed out a bucket of saw dust from my firewood, however definitely not impressed with the aggression of the wasps in my gateway.
  11. Failing that any conveyor belt supplier that joins belts or services conveyors should be able to help you out. Our local company is vulcanising south west but no doubt there are similar companies near you.
  12. I have a car on my drive that had petrol in 08 still starts first time over so petrol is a really long shot. Take the plugs out and clean them, check you have a spark, check you have petrol getting through. Presumably you have an electric pump so carefully crack the line or perhaps the plugs are wet.
  13. Metal/ rubber drive dog on each piece of equipment, a few mounting brackets and away you go. If you keep a standard slide on the engine and mount everything to that then build the mounts for the different units from that it should be quite easy.
  14. My original question referred to them as an indicator of strength in a climbers arms, so do you not agree strength and stamina have some bearing on climbing and speed of working? I appreciate modern aids help but I thought strength and fitness, both physical and mental was what this thread is about.
  15. Obviously not the only asset needed but if he could pull himself up with one hand would that not help him climb faster?
  16. My guess is most of the replies are tongue in cheek, at least I would hope they are. Going back to the fitness question, as it must be an indication of the useful strength in a climbers arms I would be interested to know how many climbers can do a one handed chin-up.
  17. Anything containing phosphoric acid will work eventually. Many colas contain a small percentage ( presumably they have to put in on the label now) but if you want quick results then one of the proper rust treatments will work in minutes rather than days.
  18. Jenolite for removing rust
  19. Chances are that yours will be the same as my 58 cc Chinese saw. Most look very similar so presumably they copied the same saw. Mine is a straight swop with the bar and chain off my 450e so a husky small mount?
  20. Probably cost more in tyre wear with twins. We needed to keep the tyres even on our old transit as any difference in tyre height seemed to wear the lower one quicker. The lighter loaded one will tend to scuff presumably.
  21. Mine came with the saw and looks like the 21 splined version but with a few gaps in the splines. It might be the screws have solid areas that fit in the tool's gaps. Another anti tamper system perhaps? The dealer set my saw up before I bought it and I've never had to touch it so far so I couldn't tell you if the cutouts are needed. It might pay you to have a look at your screws before you buy a tool to be safe.
  22. Assuming it's the same as my 450xt then you need the special spline tool to make any adjustments
  23. Too light an extension lead will as said cause a volt drop. For a given load the motor will then draw more current to achieve that power. Power= I V current x volts. Your motor windings will overheat and burn out prematurely. Get a better lead or you may be buying a petrol machine sooner than you think!
  24. That sounds like you might need more throw forward from the gear lever. When you say impossible to select are they not going far enough to mesh or just grating and kicking out? Purchase a bit of expert diagostics before you change the clutch.
  25. If you get a grinding when you try to engage a gear (with the clutch down obviously) then the clutch is dragging. Heavy clutch is also a good sign that it is worn.
