  1. To me, looking at the damage it looks like one of the needle bearing has come from some where.?
  2. Had a good day today milling ash and sycamore 22 boards in all.hopefully will manage to mill the rest tomorrow.
  3. Granburg chain is very good but you will need the granburg sharpener to sharpen it. see chainsawbar .com

  6. No this is all I have Steve just the two photos. I just don't want to wast the man's money milling it . from my experiences it just does not look right with all that sap wood.

    I have beeno asked to mill this oak that's fine, but I don't think it is English Oak I think it is turkey oak what's your thoughts on this.
  8. I cut at 2 1/4 or 2 1/2 to allow for shrinkage and planning and 10 ft long as I can manage to carry that on my own .
  9. It was back in the 1980 s over a large band sawmill with a six inch wide band largest mill I have ever seen.
  10. This was just a zinc canopy the length of the michine but over the exhust of the engine about 6 inches wide on to a what looked like a 9 inch flue pipe centre location.
  11. Seen this sort of set up before and it had a canopy much like a snooker table with a chimney on.enabling the mill to travel.
  12. 18 ton on ebay in Southampton says fire wood but some of it looks quite nice.worth a look.
  13. Sussex model centre surply some good quality two pack resin. usually surplied in setting time 5 min 10 min 30 min etc.
  14. Would two clutches of a chainsaw make suitable bearing. cut the wall off and use the back plate and needle bearings.
  15. It was last run and used about 18 months ago. looking at it,it's in a good condition.engine turns over very positive on the pull cord,nice compression.

  17. Thanks Alec. I put a offer in on some oak on ebay and was told it was poor offer and by what you are saying it was a good offer. I can hold my head high.

  22. Very Sad news, very talented man .Rick was also a very good craftsman,and was a good Rc model flyer.I learned this many years ago looking at a quarter scale model stearman which Rick had built.
  23. Unusual for me to buy a bowel, as I usually trade with people but liked this so much,turned by Pete fox of fox furniture it is a 19" platter in lyme.
  24. Quality and looks is everything with the oak boards,I would cut the boards at 2 1/4 to 2 1/2 thick allowing for shrinkage and finishing. A really nice board at 8' long 30"wide I would expect to get £80 to £100.
