  1. Exactly.
  2. Exaggeration would be the charitable word for it.
  3. Got your calculator Hodge? 4.1 cube or 3.8 if you subtract the tool box.(assuming every inch is full which in practice doesn't happen. So where did you get 4.5 to 5 cube? I'm not picking on you or trying to be clever but I knew your claims of cubic capacity were bogus
  4. put your prices up.
  5. By the time you work out the costs of assessing canopies, calculations of localized topography etc, you could have felled it, run it through the chipper, ground and replanted. Plus as DH said the locations wrong.
  6. Tough times don't last, but tough people do. Keep going Sean.
  7. It seems to me that the whole jockey wheel / hitch thing is due to keeping it under 750kg and as such must be tolerated. I've been keeping a close eye on this thread as they've been around a little while now, there's been no real complaints from owners. Got to be a good sign.
  8. If you buy a decent one and it doesn't work out you can always sell it. Sad that you don't have your brother to talk these thing through anymore.
  9. Yeah, don't suppose I'll ever go now, enjoy.
  10. Nice pics John, I love a hero shot!

Quite right, when I left college I was full of stuff I'd been taught, desperate to show the old hands their foolishness. Some things they took on board, mostly they snorted their derision and got on with doing it as they had for years. There is very little really new in this game. A few gadgets that make life easier, different ropes maybe. I see very little on here that differs fundamentally from what was being done 20 years ago.
  12. I've seen a lot of Stihlmadd's vids, very good. I can never get my head round "reccy climbing" but each to their own. Glad it's going well Nathan, keep the pics coming. Some more non tree pics would be good as well.
  13. True that, the older Rayco/Vermeer with the single rear wheel could be manhandled and moved anywhere that was less than 36inches. You could also place the wheel on the floor, lift the body and twist it around.
  14. It was a protected tree, then it wasn't, presumably German tree consultants decided it's fate.
  15. Because it was hollow.
  16. How to Use Fewer Emoticons: 8 Steps (with Pictures) - wikiHow There you go Huck, there's help out there.....
  17. Here's what I have to say about digging/winching stumps. Medieval
  18. Is there a word for a condition where someone believes that the equipment they have is all that's worth owning, be it truck, grinder etc. If there isn't i think it should be called Hodge's Syndrome.
  19. Good picture!
  20. Sunday morning Biggarlogs? Not very neighbourly.
  21. All depends on the machine. But in answer to your question, by the job. Client "how much to grind these stumps?" Me "150 quid" That's how I do it anyhow.
  22. What did you say?
  23. Mines a 2005 so might be different.
  24. Did mine this week, undo the bolts to free the unit, unplug the electrics and twist. I used mole grips on the narrower bottom part of the filter and a mate to hold the metal bit to get purchase if you see what I mean.
  25. Google Nene Overland, but make sure you're sitting down for the price.
