  1. I suspect (without any evidence whatsoever) they could be goat willows. I can't speak for grey, don't think I've ever knowingly worked on them. but they hybridize with Salix caprea so prolly react in a similar way. If it's goat willow, yes, you'll get a fuzzy mess all over. Cut the bottom ones, they should get shaded out, for the most part.
  2. Ok, easy to remember, it "skips" a link.
  3. Weeping willow?
  4. Good move. That'll make some money for you, year after year.
  5. Sloth is right. In reality you can hat rack it and it'll come back a treat. You're looking to make an omelette, prepare to crack some eggs!
  6. I was too tightfisted to buy a 560xp so I bought a stihl 271. Hated it, still do, which is why it's the Saw of Shame. So I had to fork out for a 560 in the end. Muppet.
  7. My brother in law did that, condensation on the glass was an issue if I recall. I might be wrong though.
  8. Ok, I also await with interest it's pros and cons. (I'd guess it's better in softwood)
  9. Ok I'll admit it, I don't know what "skip chain" is.
  10. I'm curious to know, where has LGW been anti Islamic?
  11. Cheers Woodyguy, it's not a thread that has legs anyway. Don't sweat it.
  12. Good thread, nice weather, feeling good, no back problems, walking the dog with my wife. Roast beef in 30 mins, Man U losing to the hammers!
  13. Ha ha! very true, have to admit my viewing of vids has diminished a lot. What with many more people getting go pros and the like the novelty value has worn off. There's a couple of posters I will make a point of watching. It's getting competitive out there! TBH normally I prefer good quality still photos.
  14. Ive had some success with petrol, try and get it in the hole, it liquifies the hard grease a bit.
  15. Well I reckon you are volatile but it's not such a bad thing. Tapping away furiously at your exclamation mark, question mark, and emoticon key, as you invariably do, makes you seem a bit angry all the time. You can see that can't you?
  16. On my iPad I get a flashing notification. Although all the reasons have been explained I can understand why Huck gets wound up. (Bearing in mind he's fairly volatile) There was a recent incident where New Guy Ti (I think) was wringing his hands about some cedar he was going to take down , turned into a decent thread, then Paul someone posts "PM sent" I thought, "well if you've got something to say about it then say it on here!" it wasn't a job or wood offer. Irrational I know.
  17. I was under no illusions, I knew it would turn into a "I'd rather listen to someone with bad spelling who knew what they were talking about......." Type thread. The original post was about the regular misspelling of tree names and industry related words. It's those errors that go on Cvs and quotes that could easily be addressed. Put "Ariel" in the search bar and see what comes up. I think only Mark Bolam really understood that.
  18. Closing your eyes helps:001_smile:. I was doing a decent size oak this week in high winds. Didn't seem to matter where I was, I got an eyeful.
  19. I've got a wood burner, so I don't get too much of the burning smell, mind you I've always thought robinia smells of runner beans, poplar smells of cats piss, any others.....
  20. Well I asked the question! Pretty specific answer.
  21. smell of what?
  22. Decent enough, I burn it at home.
  23. I agree, stump grinding for me is a good money maker, but a slow burner. To do it without actually felling the trees myself would be a struggle.
  24. Fair enough, I tried to buy then in HBs before Christmas, but they only had the rings "loose" which disappointed me.
  25. Why wear them at all? if you have a mesh visor that should be enough.
