  1. Oh just get on with it! Ladder, strop, poles , whatever, never heard such nonsense. Too small to climb!
  2. Yeah I'll need convincing otherwise.
  3. What a great picture! What sort of owl can not only take a rabbit but lift it away with out a trace?
  4. I would say swinging off and slamming into the trunk was something to worry about.
  5. How come it's in full leaf in the ladder pic?
  6. Well give a costing on the info given, that's the game we play isn't it?
  7. #27!!!!!!!!???????
  8. I don't think you're far off. 2 things, maybe the client is pulling your chain on the "other" price As someone pointed out its probably full of every conceivable thing that will ruin a few chains..
  9. Oh, I'm only playing devils advocate because as soon as people hear of a quote cheaper than them they assume they're cowboys.
  10. Did it the other day in fact, to cut off a branch from a neighbouring tree, saved a climb.
  11. All depends on access of course, species, (ie can it be used as firewood) and ....cough....methods of payment.
  12. 500 quid seems about right.
  13. I know we're all a bit sad anyway 'cos we're posting on an Internet forum but this thread takes some beating. I mean who is actually impatiently waiting for the release of a combi can?
  14. Could be. Never thought of that,
  15. I'm going to take a stab at oriental plane.
  16. Here's my take, branch walking is impressive, I remember at college watching the instructors go out to some very small bits. But it's not obligatory to do it at every opportunity. At the moment your job is to get out there and cut that bit off, if that involves crawling, riding the horsey with your strop round the branch or whatever then do it, the stylish stuff will come with experience.
  17. It's not so bad, especially if it's mostly downward weight. If you're pulling a really skinny top sideways you're should be a bit wary. But that goes for every wood.
  18. It's a primeval thing, men, fires, somewhere to put a log, plonk your arse and eat your sarnies. Plus you leave the site with nothing but your gear. (And a cheque hopefully)
  19. Can't beat a burn up!
  20. Ha ha, lazy git!
  21. I'm pretty sure that it's frowned upon because your putting the saw into uncertain stuff near your feet, plenty of scope for kick back etc.
  22. I don't think it will make any difference, now is good.
  23. We used to call it rashering.
  24. I know, it's the little triumphs that keeps us going!
