  1. I know a bloke!! Who machines the block surface drills and tap it and bolts on a plate coated with good quality sealant job done for good! Is it a chipper, is it a mower or another broken stump grinder who cares we'll fix it!
  2. Variable speed models don't like being pulled backwards when the engine is running Height adjuster are good when new! But the levers bend out wards and then just drop to the lowest setting with no warning leaving lovely rings on the grass your cutting!! Is it a chipper, is it a mower or another broken stump grinder who cares we'll fix it!
  3. Quote. I've changed my Lawnflite 533 for an Etesia after drive problems, too early to tell if it's the right move. It's certainly much better for smaller gardens and regular loading onto the van. If you're thinking of mulching I really recommend the Etesia. Collection is 90% as good as the LawnFlite but not as quick or 'hungry for foot long grass' if that makes sense! Plenty better than most other mowers though, and fine for for cuts every fortnight. Quote Etesia mowers don't like being pulled backwards, the variable speed pulleys are as reliable as the weather And the height adjusters can only be described as crap! Other wise a strong built thick alloy deck which will take a bit of stick good handle fold down system bit greedy on cables! Price is a little steep as well and they are French and not Chinese built! Is it a chipper, is it a mower or another broken stump grinder who cares we'll fix it!
  4. Anti fling oil is made for a reason!! Veg cooking oil will only make you hungry and in search for the nearest chippy! LOL! Is it a chipper, is it a mower or another broken stump grinder who cares we'll fix it!
  5. Daily check are normally done by the person operating the chipper on a daily basis The six month check is done by a third party impartial suitably experienced engineer/mechanic Then at least what ever has been happening incorrectly prior can be stopped and corrected then being left to continue! And a opportunity for operators to seek advise on maintenance You can go on training courses to operate chippers but it is a proven fact that the average person only remembers 25% of what taught on a training course a variable % was known prior and the remainder is forgot maintenance being the least of interest so the first thing to be forgot (owner operators will always tend to be better maintainers) The EA have I listed this practice simply on safety grounds as a preventive measure!! Is it a chipper, is it a mower or another broken stump grinder who cares we'll fix it!
  6. 35x would put out(or should of done if not made on a Monday morning or Friday after noon!!) 15 litres per minute at 2250rpm Relief valve pressure should of been set to 2500psi If you plan to use the internal pump give it a chance and change the internal suction filter this gets missed on services and can have a dramatic affect on the hydraulics!! Is it a chipper, is it a mower or another broken stump grinder who cares we'll fix it!
  7. The Environment Agency introduced a six month safety inspection to all their chippers after someone removed there finger tips spinning the flywheel after unblocking - the hand resting on the body while the other pull the fly wheel round!! The paddles do the chopping!! Now all chippers get a full safety inspection to ensure all safety devises are working and maintained correctly Is all of your safety devises working correctly!!! Is that stop bar a bit stiff ! Does your auto reset lock in the stop position every time ! Does your stress control even work! There is many a chipper out there which would fail one of them 3 On a inspection depending on model and type there's about 30 items to check!!! How good is yours Death prevention must be a first at all times so should this kind of inspection be made a requirement for all chippers like HGV's have six weekly (before anyone does it's not always six weeks I know!) checks should all chippers have six month checks? Is it a chipper, is it a mower or another broken stump grinder who cares we'll fix it!
  8. Interesting!! The larger the ram the less power is needed to operate it! But the larger the ram the higher the oil flow is needed to maintain the same speed I know I mentioned this before but if this can work off a 6.5hp engine!! Trailer Mounted Log Splitter 4 stroke 6.5HP petrol engine. 22T Capacity. Vertical and horizontal function. Cycle time =18 seconds. Hyd Tank Cap = 3.4 gallon (12.8L). Max. Log Length = 24" (58cm). What ya have here is a big ram driven by a little pump and a little engine turning round very fast 2800/3000 rpm high flow This baby will happily split logs across the grain!! So HP isn't the big factor it's matching the rest up which counts 35x unless it's had a engine restore is unlikely to be putting out the 44.5HP at 2250rpm like it did when new more than likely to be some where 35-40HP Is it a chipper, is it a mower or another broken stump grinder who cares we'll fix it!
  9. I have 2 tanks which I cut across the front about a third the way down from the top then cut diagonal up to the top about in the centre and about 2" in on each side on the top Perfect for log hinged up lid keeps them nice and dry ( leave the tap open just incase any water runs down the sides) Is it a chipper, is it a mower or another broken stump grinder who cares we'll fix it!
  10. Have you bought them yet!! I know a guy who deals in ibc tanks I could give him a call and see if he has any cages What ya using them for? Is it a chipper, is it a mower or another broken stump grinder who cares we'll fix it!
  11. Just thought I would add the full details Trailer Mounted Log Splitter 4 stroke 6.5HP petrol engine. 22T Capacity. Vertical and horizontal function. Max tow speed = 30mph. Cycle time =18 seconds. IoHyd Tank Cap = 3.4 gallon (12.8L). Max. Log Length = 24" (58cm). Is it a chipper, is it a mower or another broken stump grinder who cares we'll fix it!
  12. We sell 22ton 6hp petrol log splitter on a 5/10 mph trailer chassis which split vertical or horizontal £1500+ Is it a chipper, is it a mower or another broken stump grinder who cares we'll fix it!
  13. What is a splitter made of! Ram Pipes Reservoir Pump Control spool valve c/w relief valve Hydraulic return filter Steel work to make a substantial chassis The oil performance will deteriorate as the oil gets hotter so a large tank will help to allow the oil to cool before retuning into the cycle Pump type will depend on ram size, how strong you wNt it to be (10 ton, 20 ton) how fast you require the cycle speed to be. Is it a chipper, is it a mower or another broken stump grinder who cares we'll fix it!
  14. Interesting read!! I personally would advise going down the pto pump option for the more obvious reason - flexibility The pto pump will be like part of the splitter so it can be put on any tractor !! Should your 35x brakedown and you get the chance of using a mates tractor of hiring if need be you can drop it on providing it the same or more HP everything's the same. Convert the tractor and that option changes some what Speeding the cycle rate could be done a couple of different way - you could use a pressure beyond 2 bank double acting spool valve Providing you've got enough flow rate the second lever would enable you to increase the flow rate to the ram speeding up the no load distance. 15. This may help prevent some of the problem your having!! Briggs And Stratton Fuel Fit Additive For 2 And 4 Stroke Engines 30ml This product has been developed to help engines run smoothly in many different ways such as: Promotes quick starting Keeps Carburettor and fuel system clean Removes gum and varnish build up Improves engine Performance Stabalizes fuel up to 24 months Fully tested on a large variety of different european fuels Is it a chipper, is it a mower or another broken stump grinder who cares we'll fix it!
  16. Yeh the one which failed was the newer type Model. STC16-23 Is it a chipper, is it a mower or another broken stump grinder who cares we'll fix it!
  17. The best gun I've owned is a Beta grease gun about £15 6 years ago used nearly every day! Is it a chipper, is it a mower or another broken stump grinder who cares we'll fix it!
  18. Well I found there's mixed opinions on them some love some hate them!! I have one customer who after he had his Timberwolf pinched replaced it and that to got pinched both chained up to a floor anchor behind locking post Ect he then bought a Greenmech and now isn't even chained up and it's never gone walkies!! He likes it as it's still there in the morning lol They do seem to have a tendency to crack the front flywheel bearing housing the latter one has been running for 2 years with a cracked which cracked about 2 week after it was fitted ( not by us!) And we had one come in last year which do just that but more - housing cracked bearing jumped in the housing ripped the vertical anvil off and spat it out the side of the housing taking the Hyd return pipe with it and being tracked dropped all the Hyd oil and could be moved!! New flywheel blades anvils bespoke fabrication repair resulting in a costly bearing failure!! Out of warranty with only 280 hrs on the clock.. Ouch! But there's a story of ever make of chipper which is a night mare from hell.. Like most things in life personal preference has the most inferlence Is it a chipper, is it a mower or another broken stump grinder who cares we'll fix it!
  19. Brake cleaners solvent designed to clean grease, oil, brake dust and dirt from brake pads. Brake cleaner is available in both chlorinated and non-chlorinated versions. The ingredients in brake cleaners are toxic. Take care not to inhale the brake cleaner, and keep it away from automotive paint and plastic parts, as the solvent can be damaging to both of these. The ingredients in brake cleaners are a solvent Not all cleaners are created equal. As has been mentioned earlier Carb cleaner has an oil base and if used on brake systems, can cause pad/shoe contamination and grabbing. Brake cleaner is an excellent all purpose cleaner but, you have to be familiar with the brand you're using. Some will damage plastics, most won't. There is a separate Electrical Contact Cleaner that dries immediately, leaves no residue, is safe on plastic but, is expensive. Brake cleaner is also harmful to your lungs and well being. Avoid breathing it whenever possible. Is it a chipper, is it a mower or another broken stump grinder who cares we'll fix it!
  20. Yeh there is bearings in there and a special coated thrust washer. If there is a lot of free play there maybe a chance the bearings have locked up and the shaft has been turning on the inside race in which case you may need to change the shaft as well! Knock the roll pin out of the yoke and undue the grub screws and get it in a good vice, remove the paint off the shaft! First! To make them last longer you could drill a hole down from the top between the bearings, tap the top and put a grease nipple in ( don't forget to take the seal of the insides of the bearings) and only grease with light pressure or the outer seals will pop off. This done correctly will make the bearings last a lot longer.. Is it a chipper, is it a mower or another broken stump grinder who cares we'll fix it!
  21. That looks.. Ouch ouch bloody ouch! I heard from a good source that if you put honey on a deep wound it speed recover! ( honey has a natural anti bacteria element and feeds the reproduction cells which make skin/flesh!) When I saw the bone in my finger last week I thought that's not to good but fair doo's it seems like peanuts now!! Best wishes for a speedy recovery Is it a chipper, is it a mower or another broken stump grinder who cares we'll fix it!
  22. I've got the first tractor I drove as a kid (10-11) in the workshop for a few needed repairs now MF65 mk2 We also have a MF50B which needs the reverse idler gear looking at!! Not a job to look forward to.. And also looking for another 50B to buy if anyone has one for sale? Had a look at the 50B-4 that was on eBay yesterday ..... Needs a few things doing! .. 24. Accidents are just that and can't always be predicted or prevented we all do what we can most of the time to prevent them but it still don't stop them!.. In saying that I cut the back of one my index fingers with a angle grinder fitted with a 1mm cutting disc!!!! Interestingly it bleed very little but while cleaning the mere wound looked down to see the bone inside my finger!!! ( there's something not quite right about looking at your own bones!) a accident that shouldn't but did happen. Heal fast all injured parts! Is it a chipper, is it a mower or another broken stump grinder who cares we'll fix it!
  25. Hmmm they are good engines there's no question about it!! Did the customer give any story prior to the failure to give any clues? I've had a couple do the same one was never serviced from new 78 hrs later and the whole mower looking rough bang! The other had been over Erving by the story from the customer!! Where do you get your rubber matting from? Is it a chipper, is it a mower or another broken stump grinder who cares we'll fix it!
