  1. I would fit one of these Monoblock Hydraulic Control Valve 1/2in 1 Bank DA Flow capacity 60l/m Max pressure 4410 PSI 250 BAR fitted with pressure relief valve. Port markings P= Inlet, T= Outlet. 1/2 1 Bank DA. £58+vat This valve block has an internal relief valve fitted which is adjustable Is it a chipper, is it a mower or another broken stump grinder who cares we'll fix it!
  2. Why would you want to only change the oil and filter? If it's due an oil change then it's due a service Promote good practice not half job short cuts There's no room for kwik-fit style servicing in this Industry Is it a chipper, is it a mower or another broken stump grinder who cares we'll fix it!
  3. There's a fair chance it ain't being done right in ten minutes!!! Like I said before a service isn't just an oil change The engine isn't the only moving part on any machine! Reliability comes from correct operation and correct maintenance Is it a chipper, is it a mower or another broken stump grinder who cares we'll fix it!
  4. That's like say, is you can start a saw you can cut down a tree it's child's play! Is it a chipper, is it a mower or another broken stump grinder who cares we'll fix it!
  5. LOL!! know what you mean!! We have a few of them to embarrassed to ask how to do it!! Is it a chipper, is it a mower or another broken stump grinder who cares we'll fix it!
  6. That returns to my earlier point ! If it's due a service the it's due more than a quick oil and filter change!!! (Half a job!) What ever the equipment is it needs the correct maintenance the engine might be running but not much use if the rest of it fails ! It's not all about the ability to twist a filter and poor some oil it's about being able to spot things going 'Peat Tong ' before they do! Making sure the grease nipples which get missed day to day get greased at least at service intervals (and it gets high lighted what's not getting maintained) Prevention is better than cure ! And costs less in the long run ! Is it a chipper, is it a mower or another broken stump grinder who cares we'll fix it!
  7. Your right! We remove any material wrapped round the head and shaft but we don't rewind the head spool unless requested as a lot of our customers use different types of cord ( square, star, round, nylsaw or even bio cord) Is it a chipper, is it a mower or another broken stump grinder who cares we'll fix it!
  8. Sounds like the splines in the centre of the clutch friction disc have striped! Is it a chipper, is it a mower or another broken stump grinder who cares we'll fix it!
  9. Different place charge different rates ! We charge £35 +vat What you get Washed/cleaned Plug changed Air filter changes (foam filter washed) Carb' removed & cleaned if needed Fuel filter chanted if needed NB: grease gearbox head (should be done every 8-10hrs) Replace pull cord if needed Tune engine if needed Is it a chipper, is it a mower or another broken stump grinder who cares we'll fix it!
  10. Depends on which engine it is but parts & labour about £70 Is it a chipper, is it a mower or another broken stump grinder who cares we'll fix it!
  11. (Mountain man) I was merely highlighting that first the price you pay a dealer to do the oil change service is not just for removing the sump plug and fitting some filters Secondly the filters as stated earlier come to £41.26 that's before any labour cost incurred Thirdly a dealer should know and stock the correct grade/type of oil filters and follow the correct practice in fitting/installing these service parts So your not just paying some over charged labour costs There's two sides to most things!! Is it a chipper, is it a mower or another broken stump grinder who cares we'll fix it!
  12. We charge £40 per hour so must make us a true bargain!! Is it a chipper, is it a mower or another broken stump grinder who cares we'll fix it!
  13. Is that £30 inc vat? 5Ltrs of good quality engine oil is going to be over £20 Then if your doing the job right first time!! Are we just changing the oil here or an engine service Engine oil filter fuel filter (maybe a spin on or a replacement element filter) Inline pre-fuel pump filter air filter Somethings which are often over looked especially by DIYers Fan belt tension Coolant level inc anti freeze % check radiator core for blockage/clean When having your chipper stump grinder or what ever serviced at your local dealer even on just a engine service they would/should give the whole machine a once over, grease all points (we do and we carry out a curious steam clean and surface paintwork polish) and advise on any items damaged worn or in need of some attention these are the things which a trained eye of experience would pick up. These are points which are over looked when weighing up do i just undo a sump plug change a filter and bung some oil back in service done!!!! Thats my rant over for the day!!
  14. Chainsaw Oil Oil that is too thin will fly off the rapidly spinning chain, and thus never reach the bottom and back of the chain and bar. Oil that is too thick will become too viscous in cold weather to be properly pumped and distributed, increasing friction. One of the most common type of oil used engine oil. Purpose-made chainsaw bar oil is better, because it is formulated to stick to the chain. Some people use old oil (waste oil) either hydraulic or engine oil , recycling it as a bar oil for a chainsaw is not a good idea, as this old oil may have tiny iron filings in from it's previous use, and that will increase the wear and tear on your chainsaw rapidly not only on the bar and chain but also the oil pump To much friction can cause blueing which is noticed first on the bar normally. Bluing is oxidation of the metal surface which happens around 290C (550F) this will remove the hardness and wearing life span of the bar and the chain should this happen. The cutting edge of the chain teeth could also suffer from overheating and therefore cutting edges go dull earlier than normal! The longer the bar the longer the oil needs to travel to reach the areas under the heaviest friction with a high speed U bend half way!! Some who speak of years ago ' in he old days we just used any old oil' Times change tolerances have been reduced to a minimum, tuned, tweaked and refined. Modern oils are made for modern chainsaws (with the exception of petrol or should I say ethanol with a bit of Petrolum in it!!) 15. The choice of who you choose to look at your machine needs to be done with care!! Many electrical engineers have no or little understanding of the working of electro-hydraulics and therefore should your problem arise from a solenoid valve sticking or a activating magnetic coil pack braking down it could be over looked and result in your pockets only getting lighter!! Is it a chipper, is it a mower or another broken stump grinder who cares we'll fix it!
  16. Over run clutch on a tractor pto shaft is doing basically the same thing There are different ways of producing the free wheel motion in one direction And locked drive motion in the other direction but the overall goal is the same. Is it a chipper, is it a mower or another broken stump grinder who cares we'll fix it!
  17. The type of ratchet clutch in the video above would not be used on a chipper as the drive gear would be rotating to fats to engage - that type of ratchet clutch would only be used on slow rotating drive systems!! Is it a chipper, is it a mower or another broken stump grinder who cares we'll fix it!
  18. To put it simple a ratcheting clutch is a bit like a ratchet in a socket set - drives one way free wheels the other way When you turn the engine off it allows the flywheel to carry on turning instead of being slowed up by the engine stopping Less strain on moving parts and less wear on drive belts Is it a chipper, is it a mower or another broken stump grinder who cares we'll fix it!
  19. The Rockford Files up there with the A-Team & bionic man/woman not forgetting Wonder Woman !!! Not forgetting The Fall Guy now need to add Airwolf, Street Hawk, Knight Rider which leads to the unforgettable BayWatch!! The old ones are the best! TV just ain't the same these day To much special effects removes the reality element! Is it a chipper, is it a mower or another broken stump grinder who cares we'll fix it!
  20. All good dealers should and in most cases do stand by the workmanship if they don't they won't survive long term because unhappy customers don't keep coming back Search, ask & research dealers to find the good ones Don't rely on rants and here say as they don't print a true picture Word of mouth should only be taken if you have a good and time served relationship with a dealer Is it a chipper, is it a mower or another broken stump grinder who cares we'll fix it!
  21. Dedicated mulcher has a profiled deck to increase performance but there are a few multi purpose machines out there which are effective but I think a budget around £750 inc is realistic to get something worth buying with an alloy deck Husqvarna M53 is a good bit of kit mulching only front wheel drive! Easy to stop when you go over that stone brick dogs toy and the first thing you do is tip it back but fail to release wheel drive !!! Tip this back and drive wheel are off the ground John Deere did a 3 in one with castors on the front this was just an MTD rebadged not really up to heavy work Masports have had a lot of likes having a open back to the body help prevent blockages Active is another previously branded Harry mowers Is it a chipper, is it a mower or another broken stump grinder who cares we'll fix it!
  22. That is question best asked by PM Is it a chipper, is it a mower or another broken stump grinder who cares we'll fix it!
  23. Sound like your having a rough time with that stump grinder!! If you have no joy getting it fixed we would be happy to look at it for you on a no fix no fee. That is if we can't find and fix the fault we won't charge you a Penney for our time ( and we charge a lot less than other dealers anyway!) Is it a chipper, is it a mower or another broken stump grinder who cares we'll fix it!
  24. Are you looking for a mower to do all three - collect discharge mulch Or a dedicated mulch mower or a high performing collecting mower? This could narrow down the options a lot!!! Is it a chipper, is it a mower or another broken stump grinder who cares we'll fix it!
  25. No problem Tom any time. Is it a chipper, is it a mower or another broken stump grinder who cares we'll fix it!
