  1. This statement is so far from the truth! REDWOOD ARE STILL JENSEN IMPORTER AND PART SUPPLIERS They are just not the sole importers! So anyone saying otherwise should do there research before shouting out!!
  2. What's more worrying is the thought of trying to prove it wasn't you towing it if no one was watching!!! And therefore by default get the blame and the penalty to go with it!
  3. Don't forget on a hill with a loaded trailer the figures would be some what different!!!
  4. You must have a brakes way cable fitted if the trailer is fitted with brakes which is all trailers over 750kg but you can fit a chain as well! As the hitch on the trailer is only held on with 2 bolts!! But the chain isn't a replacement for the breakaway cable! I also know someone how towed a inflatable type lift boat up the motorway for about 60 miles Trailer being a little nose heavy stopped off at the motorway services, went over a speed bump in the carpark and off came the trailer!!! It had been sitting on top of the ball for the last 60 miles !!!
  5. You need one of these!! Safety Chain 400mm 5 Link 63mm ring for ball [ 400mm long with 5 Links & Ring 8mm. Ring ID = 63mm (sized to fit over tow ball.) ] Peace of mind !
  6. ! Standard 12v auto electrical circuit won't give you a shock !! Common faults with trailer lights are: 1. Bulb blown 2. Bulb loose in fitting 3. Bulb contacts corroded 4. 7 pin plug which plugs in to the towing vehicle - splay the pins slightly to make better contact 5. Connections in the 7 pin plug badly corroded 6. The 7 core cable is damaged between the front and the rear of the trailer 7. Bad earth connection There are more but the should fix most probs
  7. If auto reverse has been activated then you may have on a good day 2-3% drag on the non sliding shoe It makes no difference the area of contact if it has no force behind it it won't have any effect In simple terms auto release activated means you brake shoe pressure has been released and your brakes no longer work until till the auto release is reset! Also what some are saying the park brake works in reverse because a law states it has to have energy store?? This means it has a gas strut pushing your park brake lever up !! The auto reverse will still activate in a backward direction Trailer park brakes don't work backwards ( if fitted with auto release) If it does hold in reverse then your brakes are in poor maintenance and not working correctly and unpredictable !
  8. FORWARD BRAKING The actuating force for the wheel brake is generated during braking of the towing vehicle, as the trailer tends to overrun and pushes the drawtube in. This force is transmitted to the expander devices in the wheel brakes via the overrun lever, brake rod, compensator and brake cables. As a result, the brake shoes are pressed against the brake drum. The resulting friction from contact of brake linings and drum produces the required braking. On releasing the brake on the towing vehicle, the drawtube returns to its original position and the brake shoes are released from the drums by means of the tension springs. AUTO-REVERSE During reversing the drawtube is pushed in and the brake shoes press against the drum (as in forward braking). When the trailer wheels are in reverse, the reverse rotation, combined with the friction generated from drum and lining contact, causes the sliding shoe to slide on its carrier towards the adjuster. This displaces the sliding shoe radially inwards away from the drum. The drawtube may then travel fully to its end stop without applying further force to the brake shoes and the trailer can be reversed without any difficulties. Changing direction from reverse to forward travel results in the drawtube being pulled out, allowing the sliding shoes to be returned to the forward braking position by means of the tension springs. PARKING The handbrake, in conjunction with the energy store, is used to apply the brakes when the trailer is parked. As the handbrake lever is raised, its lower end makes contact with the lower end of the overrun lever and begins to apply tension to the brake linkage. As the handbrake is raised further the energy store mechanism moves overcentre and pulls the brakes on fully. The spring energy store is pre-tensioned with a force corresponding to at least the actuating force applied during normal trailer braking. If the trailer is rolling rearwards as the handbrake is applied, or if it is pushed backwards with the handbrake on, the autoreverse mechanism will be brought into action. To overcome this, a greater actuating movement is introduced from the spring energy store, expanding the brake shoes further so that full brake effectiveness is maintained.
  9. We have a customer who opted for a standard toothed belt ( like a cam belt) instead of the poly belt which was lasting about 3/4 of the life of a poly belt but cost about 1/3 the price, pulleys are the same its just the belt which is different which he said also the reinforced rubber belt has a little bit of give so works better than the non flexing poly belt ( but that's one users opinion!!)
  10. I had a chipper not so long ago which had a loose battery terminal ! Resulted in 2 relays 4 link wires and 10 wire connector all melted !! Electrical shorts cause ( terminal bad connections) power spikes and large power(voltage) increases causing overloading and over heating hence wire insulation melting and fuse blowing Bad battery terminal are best not left as increased damage can be caused!
  11. The box is a Kubota part and is pretty much the same on all models Cable ties - good cure, it does work well
  12. The ignition switch can cause starting problems sometimes There is also 2 fuses inside the ignition switch housing/box! (Your need a 3mm Allen key to get in there!)
  13. When you say "no power" do you me nothing happens or a total loss of power? I would be looking at you safety interlock switches! 1. Bonnet switch 2. If you have a folding hopper - mounted in the middle underneath The stress control box will not stop the engine starting !
  14. Use a rubber spark plug cap cut the plug end off and then slide it over the join to insulate it and wrap insulation tape round the ends!
  15. Is it just the key need Or has it snapped off in the ignition?
  16. Chippers and stump grinders are not like any other Grondcare machinery It's more like agri machinery powerful but requires precise setting up to work right and reliable
  17. Redwood are still very much Jensen as Forst And if Jensen have decided to increase there outlets in the UK it is somewhat unprofessional for those new dealer to run down Redwood to increase there sales! If you are good at what you do you will get the business you deserve If putting knives in backs and striking below the belt is what you have to do what does that say about your business?
  18. We are a service dealer for Redwood! In fact we were the first service dealer.
  19. Wessex Machinery was the sole importer of Jensen chipper, the chipper division separated from Wessex and became Redwood UK and things continued as before under the new name... Redwood UK then developed there own brand of wood chipper the Forst. This is a British designed, manufactured, and assembled chipper so Redwood now became Redwood Global . So now Redwood Global are currently the UK importer of Jensen products (machines & parts) and manufactures of the Forst chippers Redwood has a network of service dealers which can supply customers with parts, after sales service and repairs in both the Jensen brand and the Forst brand so where ever you are parts and service shouldn't be far away unlike many may think you have to pay for someone to come all the way up the country form Redwood own yard in fact there's most likely a Service Dealer near you ! Hope that helps clear any confusion.
  20. So the rumours are NOT true! And there also seems to be a few keen to confirm them and spread it further!... It has been said on here before now that it's only time, surprised it had not happened sooner! How many dealers sell Husqvarna and Stihl ! Direct conflicts can still work side by side! I would of thought the industry would be in more support of a well established company like Redwood continuing to import and supply Jensen products rather then it being at risk of jumping around between other company's or even cease to be imported like some other brand names in the past! Many would say the demand for parts would be to high for this to happen but this has happened in the past. Jensen is a well respected and liked brand and along with the Forst which is also evolving in to a similar status, These two could also work side by side and more importantly continue to provide the after sales back up that everyone needs Without after sales back a machine is only good till it brakes and that is only a matter of time!......
  21. Well we are going no where! And are always willing to in anyway we can...😊
  22. Brandishing the clutch should only be done once it has fully been assembled as your basically 'running in' the clutch in its normal running position so it needs to be in that position before you start!
  23. If it's bolted to a rubber mounting that should be ok as long as it has some flexibility
  24. Redwood are still the UK importers of Jensen wood chippers so any Jensen dealer would be a 'Redwood dealer'
