  5. I'm Clyde built and 21 stone 5'10 at 50 .gave up fags and put on two stone .can still juggle a 395 with 30 inch bar all day .as for climbing ......I know a man who can. Oh and not seen my pride and joys for a while so an accurate measure isn't available!!

  10. ideally the chain should be wet with oil after use.not spraying oil like a bike wheel in the rain and not as dry as the sahara.we used to start saw and point bar tip at a log or stump ,run saw and watch the oil droplets build up .i think this practice is no longer recommended now(h+s et all) but it worked jake

  13. I nearly got her to OK the big lasco splitter...most impressed....until she found out we had to buy a digger too....I lied saying they were only 5k mmm maybe lotto will be good tonight.nice to meet Nigel too and woodwasp.jake
  14. Wilson's is Friday and sat .yes you can jump the ropes and have a go if you wish .and all the machines are working all day .unlike Caledonian's which was last week where you need to find an operator and ask him nicely to start machine up.jake

Is the drop in kindling sales connected to the fact that us log suppliers are now selling a consitanltly dry product as opposed to years back when we sold wet wood to burn with coal in open fires?.and the use of firewood processors which produce free kindling as well as logs.as opposed to hand cut logs where the kindling element was small and generally left at the splitter?jake
  16. Mrs logs and baby logs are coming too.just in case I get a sudden urge to buy something .avoided spending anything at the Caledonian day.and misses still angry at me buying lunch in co op rather than gleneagles.oh well .........:thumbup:i
  17. The JCB will be a rebadged piece of Chinese junk.like a lot of the cheap JCB branded stuff.good diggers etc but avoid the small tools

    Filter oil

    I just use an ordinary engine oil.or suto .
  21. get a 365 x torq munch timber all day a no frills saw and reliable:thumbup:
  22. Get a 45 gallon drum or two and either call you oil supplier to get it filled or go and see your local farmer and wave drinking tokens at him.most big diggers come with self filling pumps so you can suck gas oil out of a drum at ground level.jake
