I grew up as an anarchist punk, went on all the Class War marches. Probably leant much farther left than you do right now if truth be told. After a while I started to see it for what it really was...The "freedom" that I thought I was fighting for just revealed itself to be another form of tyranny.

I think that not allowing people to have their own opinions based on their own personal convictions is very intolerant. At no point in that (heavily edited) excerpt did Rees Mogg say that he would force his own personal beliefs on someone. If holding to an opinion that "human life is sacred" is now classified as "extremism" then we're all in deep trouble.

I can understand that you have a different viewpoint to Rees-Mogg, Eggs.. But to label him an extremist? At what point does someone become an extremist? This is where I struggle with left wing politics. As soon as you step out of the "approved included list" (usually if you are Jewish or Christian) you get labelled an extremist or worse. Don't you see the irony??

I was surprised how hard the timber was when I took one down. I wasn't so surprised at the spines, like sharks teeth. The chipper didn't like the branches or fronds much either, and that was a pto chipper running off a Mog.

Just because someone has a lower IQ doesn't make them a bad person or more likely to commit crime. (Not that I necessarily agree with these sweeping statements that are pushed out as "stats" either) I know people with learning difficulties who are really nice kind people. All human beings are capable of being nasty, it seems to be hard wired into our makeup, regardless of our IQ.

I agree. Hard to believe that out of 300 million people he's the best of the bunch. Or as my American wife says, perhaps he's the only one crazy enough to want the job.

As far as I know, there is only one firm in the U.K. who have the licence to splice rope "after-market" and be able to apply a CE mark which is required for LOLER ing PPE climbing kit. The bottom line here is that in the event of a home splice failing and an insurance claim being sought, the insurance company would use the excuse of "No CE mark" to void the policy and refuse the claim, most likely. It is a very controversial subject. The main argument being: What is safer to climb on; 1. A bowline or similar termination knot with the resultant weakness in the ropes strength... Or, 2. A well spliced termination performed by an experienced person. ? Hope this is helpful. [emoji106]

A paranoid madman with nukes is one thing...... An expansionist, hardline, Islamic nation with global "messianic" designs already developing nukes and ICBM's is quite another prospect. I know hindsight is a great lens to view world affairs with.... But what did Barak Obama really think would be the outcome of his "strategic patience" approach to N Korea? Just an even bigger can to kick further down the road for the next POTUS? The key to dealing with NK seems to lie with China and they don't seem to be motivated to do very much. Up until now the question has been, how likely is it that NK would launch a pre-emotive strike? So far it seems that Kim's weapons program is purely designed to keep him securely in power. At what point does the threat become unacceptable and how much collateral damage would US/Japan/SK have to absorb in order to make an invasion viable? (The one silver lining is that there aren't many if any islamic fundamentalists waiting to fill any potential power vacuum.) It'll certainly be interesting to see how this is going to play out.

4 man team all climbing. That's certainly a squad with depth. Our experience has been that very often we put someone through their tickets and they leave. ( thinking that CS 38/39 = top lead climber[emoji849]) To keep 4 climbers going consistently on one crew is exceptional I would think. Fair play. [emoji106]
