  1. On a more serious note, what is the banter like. If you enjoy working with him then it makes it more worthwhile perservering. If he's a x who does your head in, less so.
  2. A tricky and complex bit of kit a shovel. I wish my groundie could master one!
  3. Aye, with your own kit and insurance, £80-100 is the right ball park. I paye my guy £80 and he's through my books. He does work hard though (if only for about 7 hours before he pulls up, no stamina some people!), but I wish he were more thorough.
  4. That's what I use, When I bought them, they were branded as Dampire, I know that the name of them has changed, but they're sold/stocked by SCUBA diving shops to dry out your dry suit. Effectively they're about £20, for two socks full of silica gel. Put them in, they dry out the boots. Take them out and put them on the radiator/in the microwave or oven/on the windowsill and they're good to go again when you next need them.
  5. Name it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Mines called Lewis (Literary reference), you got a good price (if that's with the VAT).
  6. Loose and a normal wash. I usually put the ends of my flipline in a couple of socks and cable tie them on to give the machine some protection/so her indoors doesn't hear the clunking.
  7. I'm intrigued by all this, I've been climbing on a rope and prussick loop for years. Are you guys saying there's an easier way?!
  8. I had an odd one last week, A guy I play circket with asked me to come by and tidy up his garden after a neighbour got a bit carried away with a chainsaw and a cherry picker. Needless to say it was like a warzone, branches everywhere, tree's mullered up to the hight he could reach. It took two visits to tidy it up, on the second one the guy who did the cutting comes out and asks the classic 'So, how are you actually meant to cut the branches off a tree then?' After the irresistable, 'not like that', I actually told him how he should do it, as you just know he'll be mullering some others at some point in his life. Oh, did I mention it was in a conservation area, and they weren't his trees.
  9. I've a standard SWB low topped transit with 3 tier shelf on the left hand side (from the backdoor), mower on the floor, saws on the second shelf, hedgecutter, blower, strimmer and other bits on the top. Knapsack on the righthandside of the side door (spanning both shelves, the top one's shorter), hand tools (spade, fork, axes, mattock rakes etc) on the Lefthandside of this door, strapped to the back of the seats. Climbing kigt hangs off the back of the cage behind the driver. Longer tools along the righthandside (from the back door) on a rack. Ladders on the roof rack. Space for 5 wheelie bins/numerous dumpy bags, or 3 bins and a cs 100 chipper. Obviously it's all removed each night and stored in a secure lock up.
  10. They own 95% of the island, they won't sell out, just start selling unseasoned wood. I've heard that they're trying to stop tennant farmers from proccessing fallen trees. My customers are becoming those with a chip on their shoulder about the estate and would rather buy from anyone but them.
  11. I'm on an Island, there's only a handfull of firewood suppliers, some right cowboys and the estate, who have a sawmill, and have recently invested in a firwood processor. They're now selling seasoned Softwood at £45/m3, Seasoned Hardwood at £65/m3, delivered. For me, I cut and split my arb arisings by hand, charge £80 for a m3 and last year sold out, I think that this year I may be sitting on a pile of logs in the spring :-(
  12. I prefer a curve. Zubat's my weapon of choice.
  13. Aye, no problems, give me twenty years! That's the one i was going to say.
  14. The wee roberts has a single speaker, but it's not that loud, I usually wear headphones as the ariel has snapped off and it gets better reception with them in!
  15. I have a wee Roberts sports dab that is great. Iven climb with it when there's a test match on!
  16. Ok, cool, it's kicking around now as the CS100 modifications suggestions or something like that thread. Add a like & dislike button as well when the upgrade comes. Thanks flor running an outstanding website
  17. Bungee's to hold it open, you just need to put it somewhere with places to hook them onto.
  18. Aye, tightening it up properly is the answer, my suggestion is just to make it easier.
  19. Cheers Pete, mines called Lewis, it's amazing what he can fit into a wardrobe!
  20. that makes my rigging look solid!
  21. Do I need to get someone from the council to nominate me, to do this, or can I just book on?
  22. Hi, I was just trying to send someone a message with a couple of small photo's, I ended up starting a thread, as I couldn't attach a photo to either message or email. Is that right, or should I be able to. It seems a wee bit of an over sight.
  23. I got my wee chipper a couple of weeks ago. It's great. There is one wee issue I would alter. The discharge chute is very hard to tighten efficienty due to the knob being to close to the chute. This has lead to it flying off and a shower of chippings on a couple of occasions. The solution is very simple. Two or three of these white plastic spacers on the bolt would shift the knob far enough to the side ( away from the metal) to be easily turned.
  24. From what people say, the tw has issues with the angle of it's infeed, but I've not used both, so I'm sure someone else could give a better opinion.
  25. It was the first, I'd not want to shockload the winch.
