  1. Aye it's been hanging around a few years now. I find keeping it braided keeps it out of the brash. As for the dancing, I was enjoying myself, although i did manage to launch a poor wee lassie a fair distance while stripping the willow, she started the spin all enthusiasm, and either lost balance or chickened out halfway through and did an impression of a bowling ball. It's instances like this that keep me from being allowed out too often:001_huh:
  2. cs100, wheelie bins and a load of dust sheets, but as said manage expectation, add a man to the job, and make it clear to the guys that care is required. where abouts are you?
  3. You call those beards!!
  4. I'm heading over to aberdeen next week, have work On Mull, in Glasgow, Cumbria, Lancashire and Sussex on my to do list. I try to fit it in with weekends away, but if you can include the travel/accomodation in the quote, leave logs and chip on site, and price the jobs from afar, then I'll cover Landsend to John O'Groats, wait a mo, I did some mewp work in Orkney a couple of years back;-) I keep meaning to advertise on Islay, to try and line up a works outing to the distilleries!
  5. Is that soil built up around the base? It looks like it completely lacks any butressing if not!
  6. It all depends on the neighbours, if you do try to go under the radar, be prepared to keep them sweet with free/cheaper logs etc.
  7. Call me crazy, but I reckon Russ may be the first to offer a sensible answer to the question (apart from the earlier call to refine the question). Was that the point, what are they doing, with this odd winter?!
  8. Quins win and Wasps lose, that's a good day by my standards.
  9. Where is that bent bit of metal when teh machine is supplied? I have a horrid feeling mine may still be there!
  10. Steve, do you want us all to be sensible and start a new thread, I'm sure we could try ;-) !
  11. I'd agree, knock it over!
  12. Great effort all, thanks Steve, I'll walk away with the great prize of another years free membership to Arbtalk. Not such a bad prize IMHO!
  13. What's the reason for sale? It seems a great opportunity.
  14. One word. Torridon.
  15. Needless to say that it was shut at 230 today after an hour detour. I'll call by clarkes next time I'm over that way. The old harness and hat'll have to do till then!
  16. Hi all, I was hoping to get a harness while I'm in transit back from the festive period. Does anyone know what alterations honeybrothers have to their usual hours over the new year? Thanks
  17. As with most things, if there's an easier way, I'm all for it. The gym isall good, but a winch on the front would make it a lot easier. I'm torn between the jockey/stop leg idea. I think the stopping ability is important, but the winch I've bought can go both ways, so I may try a wheel on that principle. I'm trying different things. My main reason with the winch is that I'm worried about asking staff to do it. I've got it onto my trailer alone before, and into the van with a winch, but I just think it'd be safer with a mechanised system. It's that simple.
  18. Years back I failed my cs 38 in an oak due to my anchor point snapping out. Where it had failed was about 6" and had no clear sign of decay on the exterior of the branch, but rot through the core. That's just bad luck, but I didn't fall to far.
  19. Aye, I doubt I'd get one on the island for that much, mores the pity!!! I would have expected it to be at least double that, but then it shows how much I know.
  20. In that case my hat is off to you. £400 for that crane seems a bargain. If i were close by, I think I'd sell my climbing gear and get a regular customer deal with them. You're right, definately good value for the big toys!
  21. I have done, cheers. Pete.
  22. Great video and a very good efficient job. Just out of interest, how much did the crane cost? I can see the saving in time taken, but surely it added to the price of the job. If you you had rigged it all down yourself over maybe 3 days, surely your cut of the price would have been much greater. The back bone looks like a good bit of kit. Similar to the Tree Angel Jonsie's sell, but it looks about ten times stronger.
