  1. In my experience local newspapers love this type of story. We all know that no one will ever be charged for killing the tree, but some karma would be served if the community knew there was a tree killer in their midst.
  2. Why not work a few months in arb before you take the course? you might not like the work.
  3. it seems you are a workaholic (for better or worse).why not get your fiancé to work with you? that means you spend time with her and you work as well?
  4. tbh, if you were a Saudi teen you'd think that was fun as well. They can't drink or get a girlfriend. But they can indulge in bum sex with their mates and drive like lunatics.
  5. if you're lucky conjugal rights might have been restored by Christmas!
  6. Lol, on the bright side when you get divorced you'll have all the time in the world to work
  7. Did you have a good relationship with the owner? If you did I'd contact her directly. Has the owner got family you could chat to?
  8. however not many people reading this thread know the ratio of short days to long days.

I think the problem is that it is too easy for multinational companies to move profits to the lowest tax country. All they have to do is get one part of the company to buy goods at an inflated price from another part of the company in a lower tax zone. It would type of make sense if all countries had the same tax rates.

Lol, the Irish authorities are unhappy about Apple having to pay them this money. The Irish have a low tax rate to encourage businesses to set up in Ireland. With this ruling it might push businesses away..
  13. Why bother with a top pond? Why not just dam the stream and have a hydro scheme there?
  14. As others have said this already happens. I think a drawback is that the process loses quite a lot of energy.... There are also limited valleys where you can have two dams.
  15. Tbh, this thread shows why Brexit should be a good thing. I'm surprised how little arb workers are paid. Anyone remember 20 years ago there was no hand car washes and cars were washed by machines? It was only when we got mass migration that hand car washes became economic again.
  16. Construction workers can work for years for the same client. It's what I do. Tbh, I looked at the criteria of when an sub contractor is really an employee reducing income tax. I thought I was clearly an employee, however I spoke to two accountants and they both said I was a sub contractor....
  17. I 100% agree we should invest in tidal. Solar and wind still have their place though. The main drawback of these power sources (unreliable power generation) can be partially overcome by storage and flexible pricing. Ok, there is no brilliant way to store electricity at the moment. However with smart electricity meters the price of electricity can be altered so that electricity is cheaper when the wind is blowing. At the moment wind turbines are switched off when there is too much wind... If the electricity price was lowered at these times people would do their washing etc when it was cheaper.
  18. I'd rather have wind power than import gas from the like of Qatar and Saudi.... Using gas and oil etc is basically like giving ISIS guns and bullets... I understand that no fishing is allowed amongst the wind turbines and sea life really benefits.
  19. Tbh, I don't think anyone has said anything to destroy anyone's reputation? I just saw a guy asking what the going rate for his job was.
  20. Does this guy stay near to you? I think the way a small claims court works is that it is held at the court where you lodge it. If the other guy stays miles away he would have to take a day off work to contest it. If he doesn't attend you win the case. In this day and age he could struggle to get a mortgage or loan if he has had a claim against him. IMHO, if you have a email confirming the order you've a good chance of getting the money through a small claims court. Does your local university have a law department that could help?
  21. Have you considered selling your system as a lone working tool? We have guys that work in remote areas. It's always a concern if they take unwell etc.
  22. I was breaking up old pallets at the weekend for firewood In all honesty pallet wood burns with a cheery flame and is roaring after 5 minutes It also adds a touch of class to any hearth.
  23. tbh, I think we are in the early stages of a world war between radical Islam and secular democracies. "Normal" politicians have their heads in the sand and lie to the electorate about the problems. Does anyone really believe that "mental health problems" are the reason so many European are getting killed by members of a certain religion? At least Trump admits there is a problem. That's the reason I would vote for him.
  24. I think he’s a bit of a buffoon and I think a President should have had previous experience as a politician. However he raises important questions about how certain cultures integrate in the West….. He’s certainly a lot better than the rest of the politicians that declare Islamic State has nothing to do with Islam…… I think we’d all agree that something is “broken” with politics when someone like Trump could realistically be the next American President.
  25. If I was you I'd be looking for a job with the local council. A lot of organisations like hospitals/ colleges etc employ groundstaff. How about trying them?
