  1. I damned if I do and damns if I don't!! You can't win can you, it seems some folk can do what they want and get away with it. Sod em! I burn nothing mate. Wink, wink. In fact I don't do anything. better not get me started.
  2. I wouldn't class wood chip or timber as waste anyway as all my chip goes to allotments, golf courses or people's gardens, where it gets used, if I take it to my yard it rots down to compost which I sell. The timber goes for logs. It may only be needed for hedge clippings or stuff that I burn. No doubt we will need a licence to fart next:)
  3. I got one just in case:)
  4. Donate a quid then mate:) ha,ha.
  5. Maybe everyone should give a quid? If we all did that then it would help the forum and help continue the good work!! Come on peeps donate a quid!!
  6. Well it needed to be said, we come on here and ask advice, bitch and moan and find out that no matter where you are doing tree work you still get the same old things, how much?? Can't you just cut it down, can you just?? , we all get it, and thanks to AT we know we're not alone out there. Then there are the regulars that Crack me up ( huck,Blair,Bowlam, mendipjohn,Mozza, slack,Andy Collins, easyliftguy, and all the others!!. Arb Talk isn't just a forum, it's a way of life.
  7. I've been a member on here for a few years now and I thought it was about time I said thanks to Steve for creating a brilliant forum. I have sold things on here, I have learned things on here, I haven't people who are sound, and argued with people, which is good fun, ha,ha. I think everybody on here owes Steve a pint!! The site has made me think about things and really has helped. Keep up the good work Steve. And to everyone else keep posting!!!!!!
  8. Heart attack fodder, mmmmmmmmmm
  9. 1 saw mate:) that's 2. Even though I love my 560xp, it wouldn't do for big stuff so I'm gonna go for a 372xp with 15,18,24 and 28 inch bars available. That covers most things really.
  10. I have heard the sandvic are very good but are quite expensive. Im very happy with the multi tip system I got. The teeth seem to last alot longer than finger teeth, they are easy to sharpen too. I carry a couple of spare sets so if it's a bit tough and the go dull I can just change them in about 5 mins.
  11. Cheers John but its a good 20 meters from the tree over the building to the car park so it wouldn't reach. I have just been at the job with another crane firm who have been great, they can do it, 2 hrs max, £200 plus vat. They do the paperwork etc. so job sorted.
  12. Huck, I'm in stitches after reading that mate:)
  13. I have noticed that recently on arbtalk there has been quite alot of freelance climbers/ arborists advertising looking for work, is this due to lack of work so company's are laying people off or is there lost of newbies coming through? I dunno if it's good or bad? Opinions please:)
  14. I wernt having a go mate, it's just I have been there and learnt the hard way. Graham at orange plant is a top guy and had helped me out a few times in the past.
  15. Have you ever changed the blades on a 150 mate? You have to be very carful not to round the star,If the star has rounded then you won't get a star socket to turn them as it will just slip.
  16. That won't help if he has mashed the stars.
  17. Drill them out until you can pull the blade off then get mole grips on? Or weld a bolt on to it? Just thoughts, I always re lube mine before putting them back in. And always clean the star out before putting the bit in.
  18. I am going to get them to do a contract lift, the problem is that the job will only take 3 hrs but they want a full days hire for it, £750 plus vat. That's for a 25 tonner. The tree is rotten, can't be lowered as no anchor points, no trees nearby, can't be felled as leaning towards building, and rotten at base, there are 2 large limbs over building roof, the only way to do it is by crane.
  19. If you have an accident and you have the windblown ticket cs34 I think, then your insurance will cover you if you don't it won't. An estate shouldn't be using you to do stuff you are not qualified to do, even if you have been doing it for years in the eyes of the hse you are not capable. If you don't have 30/31 them you cannot use a saw on sites etc or be covered by insurance, this is the same.
  20. cheers but its 500 quid more!! last time i used this company they didnt ask for a lift plan?
  21. Those 2 wanna get a room:001_rolleyes:
  22. please can anyone advise me on how to write up a crane lift plan? i have not had to do one before:blushing:
  23. good luck mate, if i hear of owt i will be in touch.
  24. I know what you mean, I took on a nice landscaping project for my mates sister to see me through, I have 4 days of tree jobs booked until the end of the mont and then nothing really, the phone has gone dead in the last 2 weeks. I looked at 2 jobs and put in a fair price and never heard back. I have noticed over the last couple of years that people are being more choosey with their spending and in a lot of cases the trees end up way down the list. I paid a company to get me to the top of google for a month after they were telling me the amount of enquirers they were having for tree work in my area, I have had no calls from this as the few calls I had I asked and they were either word of mouth or had seen my local paper add. I should have kept my money, I won't be going down the google line again! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
