  1. I seem to remember you need to mot the mot exempt car to transfer the number plate. Yet another random anomaly in the law, sure some one will be along soon to blame the eu/brexit/covid for the lack of common sense!

    Jokes???

It reminds me of he invisible man posters everyone had in the late 80s/early 90s
  3. Just bung it in and ride it/cut with it like it’s stolen, is a basic 2 stroke motor in either machine not a space ship! Decent quality oil is decent quality oil. Decent oil vrs cheap crap I would say spend on good quality and the machine will last longer but apart from that I stand by my first paragraph!
  4. Got to love a mk5 smiley face transit. They were the last of the proper transits in my mind, got a bit girly and soft after that
  5. Not cheap but are they good? I would rather spend on decent kit than buy a crap one for half the price that doesn’t pour any sense and leaks after a couple of months, if you do that on a £20 Jerry can from fleabay they suddenly seem expensive and yours looks cheap all of a sudden 👍
  6. What sort money are these? Our old can has a dodgy seal and these Look good.
  7. It goes to show sometimes nature does know what it’s doing!
  8. Seem to remember he said a single sheet of a4 paper could be used folded once to set and single to not tear, once set - but at that point almost everyone on the course had rizla so it was the easy measurement tool!
  9. Sorry Doug that’s as much as I can remember, the set the same I used i towed with a allis charmers model b and then promoted to a grey fergy about 30+ year ago, I was about 11 and I’ve slept since then!
  10. It’s easy to see the difference if you measure out from the shaft with a stick or similar. There staggered in 3 pairs, first pair does most of the work, second pair does a fair bit and 3rd pair just clear the crap out. when I had Predetor grinders I used to put a new pair in the leading pair, move the old ones to the second pair and them to the third pair. The old third pair used to go in the scrap bin. yes you can sharpen them but the time involved was never worth it, just price them into a job. Unless it was really stoney shit job, in which case I would sharpen on the machine with a batt angry grinder and diamond disc in between changes. I also kept a few in various states of wear so if I broke a tooth it could be changed with one in a similar state to it’s pair to keep the wheel balance.
  11. I did a training day with a bloke from ransoms years ago for a self propelled gang mower - a folded (4 thickness) rizla is a about right to set he drum to the static blade, once set you should be able to spin the drum with a single folded rizla but tear a doubled one. no idea to the gearbox but it’s not doing 100mph so I would just say any half decent gear oil would be fine and better than no oil! Use one like that as a yoof, Seem to remember they are just a chain driven over run dog clutch (plus release handle to take out of gear for transport) in the gear box so nowt that can’t be fixed by a ape with a lump hammer!

    Splitys

Original patina?, if it’s factory paint and not been welded it will make that upwards all day long!
  13. Funny how yew get preconceived ideas, probably comes from me working with machines, if it’s got oil in I normally end up covered in the feckin stuff 🤦‍♂️
  14. I had always imagined a oil rig to be a basic place with sticky floors and inhabited by tobacco chewing inbred imbeciles that are the missing link from ape to man! That looks like any normal office! You have just shattered my illusions!
  15. It may be a few grams lighter but a sugi bar from Chainsawbars Will out last it by years. I’ve still got one that’s about 6 year old and has done a lot of broadleaf woodland felling. Think I got 2 seasons before changing the nose. The stihl light ones are made by Cadbury in comparison. It’s not all about the last gram for me but value for money.
  16. In fairness 90% of ours is this end, try not to go past the middle, that seems to bring on a nose bleed, more to the point there a bit strange over ‘tuver side in the east!
  17. We cover the whole island, 26 mile long by 12 mile wide.
  18. We looked at the Nfu a few years ago, the small print said we couldn’t work on any tree that was within 2.5 or 3 (Hazey memory) tree lengths of any structure inc fences so you would only be insured for jobs you probably didn’t need to be! Needles to say we didn’t go with them! It may have changed since then to be fair to the Nfu.
  19. To add to Dan’s comment, remember once it hits the floor it will seem to get 3 times bigger instantly! it’s also poor to average at best firewood, I would chip the lot.
  20. You will make @Big J jealous he loves mud
  21. Check the brake band isn’t broke
  22. Normally with a clean saw they don’t want to touch or get dirty!
  23. It’s only to show you can do basic maintenance, you haven’t got to strip anything down you wouldn’t on site to keep the day running. It’s not engine rebuild it’s 10 min to prove you can do very basic repairs. If your saw is pristine it will be a piece of piss.
  24. Mental isn’t it, if your ever stuck for anything this side of the water just shout 👍
