  1. If you don’t like what what you read bugger off else where, this place has a huge amount of knowledge that is shared free of charge in exchange for respect and a bit a good humoured banter, it’s not a closed shop but most don’t suffer a fool gladly and don’t care to be insulted I for one am far from a non discript bender, some days I could give you chipper bitch but not today - Your boring me now!
  2. I made Mine in to a door stop, only time it’s been any good for anything!
  3. Hydraulics over sweaty bollocks every time!
  4. We have gone back to older vehicles for this exact reason. I don’t need or want a load of bleepy shit to tell me I’m going to back into something, I have a shiney thing that lets you see behind you stuck out on either side. We are all (or should be)perfectly capable of checking the oil, water levels and tyres once a week with out a computer. I can also fix older stuff with out some spotty computer geek needed to find out what unnecessary sensor has just shit it’s self and charging me silly money for the service I don’t want! The older I get the more I worry about where society as we know it is heading and I’m not exactly a grumpy old bugger - grumpy quite possibly but not so old!
  5. Gasket paper is super cheap 👍
  6. Wrong side of the Solent for me unfortunately, by the time we get the boat there would be nothing in it for either of us.
  7. Stop worrying about and expecting the nanny state to answer a simple question. Some trees work in a wind some don’t! Asses each job and call it as you see fit not as somebody who probably has a degree in the subject but has never climbed a tree dictates to you! I’ve climbed up to 60mph winds with gusts well over that that was the exception rather than the rule but 40mph winds are common here and just worked with. if we stopped every time the was a 19mph or over wind we would work about a week all winter!
  8. If it’s a fairly new machine I guess you have the operators manual? If so it should have a section on basic maintenance and servicing, have look at that, you might find another filter hiding somewhere. it won’t taste nice but if you take a pipe off the feed side of the filter and blow down it you should get bubbles in the tank. If you can’t blow through it something is blocked.
  9. Does it have a electric lift pump in or close to the tank? If so this may have a filter built into it.
  10. First off you need to add a location, forestry works on small scale tend to happen on a local level rather than by national companies. Secondly I hope you are not expecting to get rich from it, if you have adb the timber will hold far less value if it’s to far gone. Thirdly a forester and an arborist are two different things, yes many overlap (ourselves included) and cover both but not all so don’t count on this service for timber. good luck with it.
  11. I have seen some one cover the plug threads in chemical metal and wind it in. Saw was running fine after, what happened next time it needed a plug I would guess goes back to micks offering, cheap saws are disposable unfortunately (normally very quickly).
  12. Pay Peanuts get monkeys
  13. Un cropable it may be but in the days of battery angle grinders we are in nowt is safe!
  14. Fork that! I’ve seen it done but I can’t get anything from it either. Welding rods all the way for me. Knock the flux off and put a 90deg bend in them and you’re away. I find making sure both rods are the same length seems to give better results tho.
  15. There is no conspiracy about water divining. I’ve found many a pipe and land drain with them, the last one I marked on the floor before the cat and genie arrived, I was under a ft out and would of found it with digger in the same hole. That said some people can’t do it for love nor money, my missis reckons she has the wrong magnetic field about her compared to me!
  16. Mustard also goes well with chips
  17. This is probably the best answer, thread over 👏
  18. Looking at the last picture I would say soon dead from strimmer ring barking!
  19. My favourites are probably (in no order) Mac, it splits easy, dries quick and burns consistently hot. hazel, quick processing and good heat with little ash. Hawhorn & blackthorn, hot - I managed to melt the he riddle bars in a multifuel burner with blackthorn once!
  20. Will C

    Predator teeth

Much slower cut but much harder wearing. Only used them once for a job with lots of rock funny enough. Would be painfully slow to use all the time.
  21. No idea, I’ve only used the 2 tine ones
  22. I just use the stihl one. Before that had a generic Chineseium one from Amazon. You want the one with the ends turned down 90deg, they will smash most things to not much!
  23. Big brush cutter with a shredder blade will make 95+% of that blow able back into the hedge base, if you sell it right you can charge extra for mulching it 🤣
  24. Yes, to be fair they used to be quite good if you got lucky who was on the fone. Bit of a lottery on that tho, one or two in service were very good, the rest not so much. This may all of changed tho as it’s best part of 2 years since we owned one and I wouldn’t want to put them down unfairly.
  25. Looks like a saw log or fire wood to me, just as well get on and fell it now than have huge costs to then fell in a year or 2!
