  1. If it’s a pop there will be rot somewhere. Fluting or not, probably just fluted as it’s got big enough to rot!

That must have been gutting. Hope you get sorted.

Opps, guess that wasn’t part of the plan.
  4. We have had success with Cutting it off (burned on site) with loppers at about 8 inch high. Then stick the pointy end of a saw file down through the centre of the stem and fill with max strength roundup in a handheld sprayer - had ink in as well to see where you have been. we went back in the spring and sprayed roundup again on the few regrowth bits. it was time consuming and a shit job but it has never grown back since and was probably 8 years ago. I didn’t write the job spec just carried it out but it worked.
  5. A location might well help you get a better response. No good someone 300 mile away having space in a kiln next week!
  6. Unless you have fixed regular contracts it’s only worth the kit plus a few beers I’m afraid.
  7. Cheers, every day is a school day. I will save that one
  8. I can’t read the article, would you be able to copy n paste for us Luddite’s that can’t get round the paywall and refuse to pay to read the news!
  9. Ive used one on a micro bull. The actual grinding was slower than the Predetor but looking at the bigger picture it was quicker. Loader used for the tree, drop the grab and grind, then drop the grinder and pick up the blade/bucket and tidy up, over all only one machine to move, maintain, insure etc etc
  10. That one didn’t pivot side to side just front to back, was somewhat of a design flaw 🤦‍♂️
  11. Used an auger torque one on a micro bull, brilliant bit of kit. Only problem is if the loader isn’t sat level side to side the hole ends up pissed.
  12. You sure I wasn’t right on the cause of using engine oil instead of 2 stroke 🧐 I’ve ever seen one like that! Amazed it still ran at all.
  13. Why not? - states he has rescue climbing ticket, seem a fair request. @Steve Bullman how does the guy access the freelancers map to find who is close to him? Shirley this is what it’s for.
  14. Take 5 min to explain and show the younger/newer team members, a few min late home a couple of times soon pays back with a better team
  15. Partial seize due Neat fuel or a bit of 15w40 super universal instead of 2 stoke oil ( sorry only red as far as farm!)
  16. My little 1953 David brown has 8500 hours on and still has the factory paint on the head bolts and bell housing so never had major work! I paid 200 plus vat nearly 28 years ago. It has waiting to have a new radiator fitted but other than that only servicing costs and a new set of boots!
  17. Door knockers = scam artists. Get a couple of quotes from reputable local tree teams. If you put your rough location up you may get a recommendation on here.
  18. Evening all. I’m a few years out of date as been climbing full time for 9+ years but that’s changing again, so we have been having discussions regarding rates for cutters on self select hardwood thinnings and Coppice work. 99% is fire wood with the occasional saw log mixed in. No pissing about just 10ft lengths all the way apart from any saw log. Also interested in extraction rates for tractor trailer based forwarders in small ish blocks with fairly short extraction routes to road side. ideally piece rates per ton but open to day rates with and idea of average performance. cheers.
  19. I’m afraid giving a spec is beyond my pay grade! I’m a farm boy that can use and repair it! I can go to the hydraulic place and say what I need to do, pay the bill and bolt it all together but I don’t know enough to spec the parts! I’ve given you the best of my limited knowledge, hope it helped 🤣
  20. When I brought it the general consensus was the easy lift was the better harness, I can’t remember why! It has always done what it says on the tin! It’s only up for sale as work has since changed for us so it doesn’t get used any more.
  21. Unfortunately you can’t polish a turd, you may be able to roll it in glitter but it will still be a turd. Unfortunately they are cheap and disposable and in my mind a rip off as not fit for purpose 🤮
  22. yes, different tractors have slightly different ones, David brown use them before the spool block to control the 3 point linkage, if you work the external spool powered by it the linkage won’t work while the external spool is in use. On Fords you can switch between one or the other but I think it depends how it’s been plumbed, the above is only my experience and poss not completely correct! I’ve not much experience with fergys tho. @trigger_andy the other option you could have is to add a extra pump to the crank pulley, if you already have one you may be able to swop it out for a modern multi stage pump to increase the flow and/or pressure. If you haven’t got one you will need a extra tank, same set up as a PTO pump on a splitter.
  23. 50b is just a loader, some had back hoe, some had a big compressor on the back some just a weight. But no 3 point or pto as a rule
  24. Have you got any spool valve fittings at the rear? Show us a pic may help! but Yes it can be done from the 3rd service but oil flow may be slow. You may be bettor off having a port put in via a power beyond plate by the tractors factory spool block. I’m not familiar with the Massey setup but most hydraulic shops that deal with agri stuff will know what you mean by “power beyond plate” Its a plate that sits between the feed from the hydraulic pump and and controls you already have. By using one you will get full oil flow to the splitter but this could compromise the loader speed etc if trying to use it at the same time as the splitter
