  1. Thanks to all for your ideas and suggestions. Very much appreciated. Having looked up all the suggested trees and comparing them to the photos I have I think the most likely candidate is the Alnus Imperialis (black alder imperialis). Cheers!
  2. Hi, I was visiting friends in Shrewsbury, Shropshire last week and knowing my interest in woodlands they asked me what type of tree this is near their home. I was totally stumped. Have posted 7 pictures. FYI - the photo taken from across the river shows the mystery tree's size - its the one to the left of the seating bench. Does anyone know what this tree is? Thanks, in advance.
