  1. Chinese reckon there train will go faster: Chinese firm offers to build HS2 and save ‘tens of billions’ | News | Building WWW.BUILDING.CO.UK CRCC will work with UK government 'if necessary' Also UK scheme estimate for finishing hs2 is 2040 ( will most likely over run by yrs) chinese reckon all done by 2025.
  2. Whos is jez hunt? Googled name and some results about poppies...
  3. husky 325 X is .050 1.3mm [HUSKY3] BC2M-0H37P-A Sugihara 15"[38cm] Pro Lam [Quick Cut Small Nose Version] - .325 .050 64 drive links WWW.CHAINSAWBARS.CO.UK [HUSKY3] BC2M-0H37P-A Sugihara 15"[38cm] Pro Lam [Quick Cut Small Nose Version] - .325 .050 64 drive links e.g Matching this bar Oregon version is 95TXL Sthil take the same chain but different number of links for same size bar so can use same chain but need different loops for each bar..... Spear Cut

    Anyonr tried this: Clever
  6. I'd recommend some proper chainsaw PPE not really much point in masks or googles.... I'd start with a helmet the husky one is decent: Husqvarna Functional Forest Helmet
  7. Dredging channel straightening & upland drainage channels all increase the peak flow lvl so can all lead to more flooding ( as well as preventing it locally). Any river catchment should to be managed as a whole system from top to bottom. Hydrographs - Interpretation of hydrographs - Higher Geography Revision - BBC Bitesize WWW.BBC.CO.UK For Higher Geography learn how to interpret a hydrograph and explore the effects soil/rock type, slope, vegetation and... Taken to extreme the tradtional flood prevention measures in urban enviro and you end up with rivers as channels like LA storm drains, Altering the upland part of catchment requires probably requires less costly solutions ans less enviro damaging ones to slow water down rather than speed it up. Of course both can be combined on same river.

    Spear Cut

Done similar bit dodgy when the tree ends up vertical sometimes after several cuts then can then fall any direction, also end of hung up top can jump back towards you hence why standing far a possible bach like in that vid.
  9. Do they really move hedgehogs? ? 10k cost for each one moved? Would be interesting to see the costs breakdown & plans of the enviro mitigation stuff...always get the impression alot of it BS greenwashing
  10. How com the yankee makstar has a mag case them? Could be they think theere isn't the demand for the smaller professional saws coz everything is bigger in the USA, aad pros only want big saws , small ones being seen as for home owners? Makita USA - Product Details -EA4300FRDB WWW.MAKITATOOLS.COM 16" 42 cc Chain Saw
  11. Doesn't look to bad to just fell apart from hegde being in way.. ? Clear escape routes and don't stand behind
  12. London the great wen sucks all life in like a black hole
  13. Boris is going on about his bridge idea again (not the garden one that cost £53m to not build another more ambitious one) Might need some skyhooks for it..... Scotland-Northern Ireland bridge idea investigated WWW.BBC.CO.UK Number 10 says "a range of government officials" are looking at the idea of a linking bridge. So probably cost a few billion for the experts to decide its not a good idea ? 20 bn a bargin though compared to HS2?
  14. Got my chainsaw trousers patched by Patagonia when they were offering a promotional service to repair any "outdoor clothing" for free for 2 days at some local event. ? Hole wasn't that bad though but the did a really good job.
  15. I have one of thoose honda mountfields ok but abit weak on wet grass or longer grass as it can clog up easy. Thinking a pricey commercial machine would pick up and get though long grass better but dunno.... Gave someone my an izy that was bought new in 1989, its not had a oil change, or new blade and the engine still going strong though half the alu deck has fallen off now. They do tend leave it outside in the rain for months and mow/scalp a 1 acre lawn and field covered in mole hills for last 5 yrs but it just refuses to die. ? Think new izy would of died but older ones were better quality.
  16. Might be right think there alot of rebadging goes on with tools also and shared parts, also husky was owned/still is electrolux though says was "spun off" in 2006. Makitas one is rated at 1.1kW so no reason that can't state power output like petrol ones do... MAKITA DUC353Z SPECIFICATION Voltage: 36v (18v x2) Maximum Output: 1,100 w Chain Oil Capacity: 200 ml (cm³) Chain Gauge: 0.043 " Chain Pitch: 3/8 " Chain Speed: 0- 20 m/sec Bar Size: 35 cm / 14" Net Weight: 5.2 kg I think is beign abit dishonest to state same as a 40cc saw but not give proper spec info one power? The husky I assume will be more powerful? Some spec for the husky Akku Kettensäge 540i XP - Tec-Profi - Ihr Technik-Profi WWW.TEC-PROFI.DE Husqvarna, Akku Kettensäge, bürstenloser Motor, leicht,
  17. Bit skeptical it will cut as fast as a 40cc E.g a Stihl MS 241 2.3kW All cordless lecky saws they never seem to tell you the kW rating of the motor seems very secretive?
  18. They must have better state subsidized child care?
  19. Running out of masks? Are there enough face masks in China? WWW.BBC.CO.UK China is reporting a shortage of face masks - what's the scale of the need and where do they come from?
  20. Global warming = Global weirding
  21. Does it have better power than the single battery mak topper version or just longer battery life? (& heavier) The one battery ones spec has faster chainspeed 24 m/s v for the dual battery 20 m/s - bit odd? But probably double battery has more torque? Would be good to test them against each other..... The single battery hedge mak trimmer is better than the dual battery one i reckon.....(not tried the dual battery one but the spec was not as good & it was an older model)
  22. Burning/charring could be to prevents rot old traditional method. May have used pine tar also.
  23. Don't piles stick up out above water lvl you think the tops would rot off as any alder outside rots really fast? Maybe if seasoned for yrs inside than put outside its properties change?
