  1. Was hoping genetic engineering programs will be used breed resitant strains of ash elm and SC unsure how realistic that is or wether its just something that needs more funding to happen. They managed to make a blight restitant potato....and wheat resitiance to mildew etc
  2. I think trees look better than barren hills Alot of different feeback loops in climate change.... How Feedback Loops Are Making the Climate Crisis Worse CLIMATEREALITYPROJECT.ORG If you want to understand how our climate will change in the coming decades, you’ve got to understand feedback loops.
  3. How bout stuff like SC coppice (could it be machine harvested?) useful product but don't think its makes much money so they are often neglected? Alot of stuff softwood is used for SC would last better.
  4. Think i read somewhere nitens is only recommeded for south or coastal due to frost tolerance although there probably some alternative euc species better suited to up north? Tempted to try a half dozen to replace some ash that has ADB....just as novelty to observe thoose mutant growth rates
  5. Think it must of been be looks kind of freaky as a single tree
  6. Odd for a single grown tree to have such a thin diameter trunk and narrow butt. Almost looks narrower at the bottom 😏
  7. I reckon euc may make a a good nurse crop and for shelter belts for broadleaf plantings, as often broadleafs seem to suffer on exposed sites you end up loads of stunted "bonsai" like trees etc.
  8. Found euc very high moisture % and slow to season.
  9. Won't the euc coppice also? What age is harvest planned at?
  10. So thats xmas dinner goosed then?
  11. What size Kw motor in msa120 versus the msa220 i wonder? Trying to find as out as big price difference.
  12. A special chapter on the re- topping of leylandi hedges that are 6m wide 😏?
  13. Inetresting didn't think that happened much unless you made charcoal but seem it maybe corect. https://www.nrem.iastate.edu/class/assets/for486/Readings/Emissions from Wood Drying.pdf
  14. Yeah noticed that from stacking hay bales a few times & shovelling a pile of woodchip nasty mould spores. Good to be aware of stuff and try minimize exposure etc.
  15. Isn't chainsaw milling bad on health also all the dust some species especially, worse dust ive had is from cutting ivy. Also pto log splitter people don't seem to mind getting gassed by diesel fumes....
  16. In picture mounds looked alot larger than a4......think your quote maybe low? Could do a test one see how long it takes? 3000 holes is alot to dig by hand say if you do manage 150 a day? thats 20 days solid of digging holes 😬
  17. Alot of that type info I think may be hard to put down in writing as its kind of intuition built up with exprieince and maybe quite specific too each situation. Good idea though.
  18. Wonder how it compares to using a gas hob? Gas stoves making indoor air up to five times dirtier than outdoor air, report finds | Pollution | The Guardian WWW.THEGUARDIAN.COM Gas cookers making people sick and exposing tens of millions to air pollution levels that would be illegal if they were outside Also find it dumb when have seen forest school and bushcraft types are lighting campfires etc and sitting around breathing in the smoke. Open cooking fires cause major health issues in third world countries.
  19. Thought it was .325? There is 3 different chains a full chisel one (square ground i think?) a mirco chisel and comfort version.
  20. Get a heli 2 carry a digger up there 🙂
  21. Piece rate for a job to prepare ground for tree planting. Looks hard work with a spade or mattock.... Or maybe this 50p sounds way to low from looking at that picture of ground full of rocks? Strimming patches first would make digging by hand easier.
  22. Watch out for lorry drivers falling alseep at the wheel? Temporary relaxation of the enforcement of the EU drivers’ hours rules: delivery of essential items to retailers - GOV.UK WWW.GOV.UK Temporary relaxation of the EU drivers’ hours rules for drivers carrying food and essential goods by road.
