  1. I have not used or seen it live yet, but from the video my thoughts are the following: the machine has no expandable tracks, so when on a slope or in the hole from a big stump to get out the last bit of the roots, I really doubt it's stability. From the carlton 5014 trx I thougt the same... a few months later the machine was suddenly available with expandables, while the hydraulic rod now seems right to be in the chip and stone flow, while expanded:stupid: but thats another story. There is no space under the machine for chips, it will built it's own obstacle in front of it. Power loss according to the hydraulics, it may be even weaker than a 1625 or a 252. Outstanding is the sweep arc! 99" is unique in this class and imho the most limiting factor on small grinders, a killer pro feature. Best regards Marne
  2. I would pass sorry.
  3. I switched to Multi-Tip on my 252 and my predator 350 and overall am really happy with it, really aggressive cut. pros: -it really cuts faster -cuts smooth -less drag in the chips -seems easier to the drive strain -you can change teeth really quick on the site, no comparison with hammering the old style teeth with an impact wrench to 200Nm -maybe a bit cheaper on the long run negative: -carbide seems too soft, this is annoying -you got to take care, that both leader teeth are installed exactly with the same depth in the wheel, if not, one tooth wears faster and the cut is not as smooth anymore. A torque wrench with the same torque on each tooth will not solve this, I have to switch between different keeper blocks and use different torque on each tooth change, usually it varys within 1mm -wheel shows wear after a few 100 hrs Overall the pros made it for me, would pick it again, go for it! cheers
  4. When my kohler goes I'm considering getting one of those subaru engines from ebay usa, seems like a proper upgrade. Whats wrong with your Kohler? How many hours did it last? Thanks Marne
  5. Finally a pocket chipper!
  6. Only until the first serious fault or wear and tear does it.
  7. Similar here.
  8. Be prepared, I found no one with a used set available... worldwide! In my country Vermeer charged 475GBP inc. vat., still searching for the platinum ornaments on these tin-rims. The loops that hold the bolts cracked after 50hrs, so keep your welder prepared. But their service regarding other stuff is really outstanding. cheers
  9. I bought the one quoted above, works great on my Kohler 27hp CH740 twin. 10. You grind metal with a stump grinder?
  11. Would be of interest for me too.
  12. My teeth need sharpening after about 2hrs, otherwise the cutting performance is not acceptable and I waste my time and machine, even when grinding in clean soil. Sometimes they they need sharpening after 5 minutes of grinding again when there was a 4" granite rock under the stump hidden .
  13. You need a decent mask, the tungsten dust is very toxic to your lungs. I use this: Half mask SR 90-3. good luck
  14. Do sandvik tips fit on a Multi-tip tooth? They look so wide.
  15. No, but having the dual wheels is a must when dealing often with slopes. In addition: Hydraulic = no tired shoulders. If you unlock the drive wheels and the ground is even, you can turn them on the spot. But already had some places where only my pred 350 fitted in, while I had large and/or many stumps where I was very happy to have the 252 instead of holding a (propellered) pedestrian all the day in my hands. cheers
  16. I'm with IC TREES. Heard that a guy with such a chinese stumpy had a cracked engine on the customers drive way, big oil mess. Look at the wheel, what to do when it's dull? Just no teeth to change, only the whole wheel, hard to sharpen. I think it's a waste of money. Get a predator, Laski, Rayco, Bandit, Dosko or Vermeer used. regards
  17. Investigating the soil around the stump is a must. Due to their design, the nice thing on mutli-tip is, you only smash the 2 leaders, not all 16 teeth at once. My reason to switch both machines.
  18. My trailer is 78,5" long (2 meters). The trick is, to let the cutter wheel hang over the back or the front of the trailer, worked well for me. Be aware, the 252 puts much weight on the side where the cutter wheel is, so it is a good idea to prefer the driving direction for the cutter wheel. btw: Still looking for dual wheels, will pay well if anyone wants to part with em. regards
  19. Good evening everyone, as a silent reader now it's time for my first post. As I have to make a quick decission, maybe someone can help. As the title says, I need to know if a Multi-Tip wheel from a Predator 450 fits into a Vermeer SC252. I can get it slightly used for a reasonable price, need to decide if to go for it or let it pass. Both take 6 teeth and because of the design, I'm sure they have the same thickness, that's all I know. Maybe they share the same drillings and bore for the shaft too. Anyone has some info on this? Many thanks marne
